TGDC: BIRTHDAY
Details
Pull up a seat at Tokyo Gaming Discussion Club, Meetup Tokyo’s (and all of Japan’s!) only recurring drop-in monthly gaming discussion club!
And folks we’ve arrived at a now full calendar year run unlocking a TGDC: BIRTHDAY event for the next session, celebrating a year of our amazing community coming together.
How TGDC works is that you have a chance to drop in and share what you’re playing, any thoughts about gaming, and even if you don’t really play games but are swooned by the ethereal nature of them in the zeitgeist, you’re welcome to contribute all the same.
Each month we do our best to host a regularly occurring, free-to-attend gaming discussion about anything you want, seating as many folks as possible in close proximity to a cafe’s beverages and treats. I tend to haul in free donuts these days too, so there’s a high RNG chance that donuts will appear.
Just to throw a few things we could try for TGDC: BIRTHDAY:
TGDC Legacy Members Spotlight: Usually we just start the clock and go wherever the conversation goes (and goes it always does), but for TGDC: BIRTHDAY we’re hoping to take a minute to give major kudos to the regularly attending members and let them take the stage to share at length their favorite games of all time. (Fun fact: this club is 99.8% powered by the participation of everyone who trickles in, with this overwritten event flyer filling up the remaining unmeasurable energy force.)
White Elephant Gaming Party: Members are encouraged to bring something near and dear to them to exchange with another attendee. It could be a 300 yen gaming-related gachapon or a loose Super Famicom game of the same value from Akiba. Or something you make yourself too, like a fan art drawing of your favorite character — or your least favorite one (that would be interesting).
Open to more (and better!) suggestions in the comments below or on our Discord here:
Now, as always, please read the below on how to attend:
The club has only two rules:
- Any level or background interest in gaming is more than enough to be a club member. Well, I guess that’s not really a rule, is it?
- Please be mindful to let everyone have their chance and space to talk. This is a newly minted rule as attendance is now reaching double figures from time to time, and it would be great if we can create a space where quieter members can more easily board onto the high-speed conversation train.
How to attend (please read this very carefully so you don’t miss our next session!!):
The Tokyo Gaming Discussion Club will meet at exactly 3:30pm inside the entrance of Italian Tomato Caffè Vigore, Komaba, at the University of Tokyo on March 29th. I’ll (host) try to get there about 20 minutes early so you can see me right there and know you’re in the right place for the right thing.
I will be holding a laminated sign of our lovingly human-made (non-AI-generated) logo.
Once we gather in front of the cafe at 3:30pm, we will go to a meeting room location on campus with caffeinated drinks and sweets in hand to guarantee side-by-side seating for 10+ people, so please gather by my held sign (and me) so we don’t get separated when we head off to our finalized roundtable! Apologies again if you arrive after 3:30pm you may miss this month’s session, as my focus as host will be on holding our session once we begin.
If all this sounds good to you, hope to see you on March 29th,
3:30pm! Also, TGDC: BIRTHDAY is free to attend. But please RSVP ahead so everyone can find each other in the cafe prior to the session.
Also, after attending, leaving a review is highly appreciated to both gather feedback on the club’s still evolving experience and boost visibility.
For any questions, feel free to drop a comment below on the event page or reach out on the TGDC Discord.
Thanks and hope you can join in!
