  • Do you believe in free will?
  • Is everything that happens determined, including our choices?
  • Is it possible to live wisely if much of life unfolds beyond our control?

In this session, we will explore Stoic ideas relating to freedom. To facilitate a lively discussion, we will read brief extracts from the ancient Stoics, such as Marcus Aurelius and Epictetus. A printout will be provided.

So, will you agree with the conclusions that the Stoics reached? Or is it already fated that you will disagree...?

Note: This event is completely free (financially, that is).

**Please note the time and venue.** It is a simple meeting room, but there are vending machines in the centre, so you may want to bring some change so that you can get a drink.

There is a waitlist, so if you need to change your reservation, please do so promptly to allow others enough notice to attend.

The group is non-religious and apolitical, focusing on practical philosophy.

No previous knowledge is needed. Newcomers welcome!
