Odysseus: A Stoic Hero?

The hero Odysseus provided the Stoics with a rich subject for discussion. On the one hand, his epic voyage home offers insights into endurance, resourcefulness, and courage. On the other, the Stoics viewed certain aspects of his character in a more critical light.

We’ll read short passages by both Homer and the Stoics such as Epictetus and Seneca, considering what lessons we might draw today from Odysseus' story and the timeless masterpiece that is the Odyssey.

A printout will be provided. No preparation or previous knowledge is required.

**Please note the time and venue.** It is a simple meeting room, but there are vending machines in the centre, so you may want to bring some change so that you can get a drink.
