【Sessions / セッション】
1️⃣ Inside libplacebo: From the mpv Renderer to a Portable GPU Video Pipeline (Plus Practical HDR) (30 min)
Speaker: Niklas Haas (Maintainer, libplacebo; Member, FFmpeg and VideoLAN Technical Committees)
In this session, we’ll explore libplacebo: what it is, where it fits in a modern media player pipeline, and the practical problems it solves. We’ll discuss its relationship to mpv, VLC, and FFmpeg, why it was split out of mpv, and what was redesigned versus reused. We’ll highlight features that matter in real-world playback—scaling, color management, dithering, and film grain—with quick quality/performance comparisons to common FFmpeg paths. We’ll also dive into practical HDR with libplacebo: tone mapping for HDR10/HDR10+/HLG/Dolby Vision, SDR-to-HDR caveats, and handling missing or incorrect metadata. We’ll close with lessons learned and what’s next.
※Available in English only.
2️⃣ An overview of VR technologies applied to Video (30 min)
Speaker: Vittorio Giovara (Vimeo)
This presentation will provide an overview on VR technologies, focusing on the video encoding standards that emerged over the last few years, including the new formats introduced for the Apple Vision Pro.
We’ll touch on the various projection formats and the codecs used to stream a stereo and spatial video, and the lessons learned implementing it at scale.
If you believe there is a more to Video then generative AI or ad Insertion and you are interested interested in an exciting new VR ecosystem, you’ll find a new and exciting… reality!
※Available in English only.
3️⃣ Talaria: A Sound-Driven Music Search Engine for Discovery Beyond Metadata (30 min)
Speaker: Shuen-Huei "Drake" Guan (KKCompany)
Talaria is a sound-driven music search engine that allows users to search using audio itself — humming, singing, or short clips — enabling discovery based on timbre, rhythm, and mood rather than metadata.
This talk introduces the core ideas behind Talaria, its segment-level audio understanding, and its product/UX applications, with demos included.
※Available in English only.
4️⃣ Lightning Talk (5 min)
RISC‑V for Video Engineers in 5 Minutes: Vectors, Current Devices, and the Road Ahead
