About us
Tongue & Groove hosts a monthly open mic in downtown Raleigh, NC, at Artspace in historic City Market. Every second Sunday, we welcome poets, musicians, and storytellers to co-create an afternoon of ephemeral creativity. (Sorry, no comedy.)

Why join us? Because you have poetry, music, or stories to share. Because you love local talent and want to hear what the artistic souls in your city have to say. Or because you think that shared creativity in the form of an open mic night just might save the world.
All shows free for audience and performers. BYOB.
Covers welcome. Originals encouraged!
If you want to perform:
- Drop your name in the hat anytime from 12:15 PM on.
- At 12:45 PM SHARP, we draw names for 15 seven-minute slots.
- If you're present for the drawing, you can choose your slot.
- If not, we will assume you've been waylaid by pirates and fill from the end of the list to give you plenty of time to chew through your bonds or parlay for your freedom.
- Halfway through the show, we draw 3 more names for our bonus 4-minute shim slots.
If you don't make it on the list this month, come back next month!

Tongue & Groove gets FRESH (ekphrastic challenge show)
ArtSpace, 201 East Davie Street, Raleigh, NC, USThis month we connect with Artspace's FRESH exhibition!
To play along, bring an original song, poem, or story written in response to something from the juried selections hanging in the gallery starting October 29.
We will draw names for ekphrastic performances first (essentially guaranteeing you a slot) and fill in the list from there. If we get more than 18 participants, we'll do some quick math and shorten slots so everyone gets to perform.
If you are performing an ekphrastic piece, PLEASE let us know IN ADVANCE the name of the artwork and the artist via Meetup message or emailing tng AT annaweaver DOT net. We are sharing the list with Artspace so they can invite the artists to the show.
As always:
- Hat opens at 12:15.
- We draw the list at 12:45.
- Show starts at 1.
