DCC's "Monday Moves" on the Capital Crescent Trail and through Rock Creek Park Join DCC and Conte’s Bike Shop (Navy Yard) for a fun ~33.5 mile and ~1,200 ft elevation ride to the: Audi Field, Titanic Memorial, Wharf, Hains Point, along the Capital Crescent Trail, Bethesda, through Rock Creek Park, WW II Memorial, The Mall, and U.S. Capitol. This ride will be geared towards our newer riders (with a chill pace and no one left behind), but all are welcomed. This ride will be on the streets, trails and sidewalks. We will go over things to help riders become more comfortable with riding in groups. We will meet at Conte’s Navy Yard Bike Shop at 10 am and depart at 10:15. Capoeira (capo-way-ra) is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that is unlike any other martial art. Capoeira incorporates flowing movements with kicks, dodges, and some acrobatics. It is often mistaken for a dance for those reasons. Since it’s origins in the 17th century, it has evolved from a secret fighting practice into an art emphasizing self-expression and community celebration. It is great for the body and mind! In addition to gaining strength and flexibility in class, students learn about Brazilian culture, history, and language (Portuguese). On November 26, 2014 capoeira was granted a special protected status as "intangible cultural heritage” by UNESCO.
