Techniques To Use For a Happier Life!
Techniques To Use For a Happier Life!
THIS IS A FREE IN-PERSON MEETUP EVENT. Unhappiness does not come from your good experiences. They come from your painful experiences. Some common examples include breakups, abuse, stressful relationships, losing someone, losing status, etc. People often feel different, less trusting and less self esteem after such incidents. Unfortunately, these painful memories can continue to affect a person's happiness, often for life. * Find out why your past is preventing future happiness and fulfillment. * Learn about an amazing technique that can release those past painful emotions. In this meeting, we'll talk about an effective tool to FULLY get over the painful experiences, so that you can be free of the mental and emotional impacts from them. After this meeting, if you need more help, you can also consult with a counselor at no charge. This group is created by the Dianetics & Scientology life improvement information center in Washington, DC.
The Happy Treehouse Social Club of Alexandria Presents a Wicked FUN Improv Night
The Happy Treehouse Social Club of Alexandria Presents a Wicked FUN Improv Night
The Happy Treehouse Social Club of Alexandria Presents a Wicked FUN Improv Night Under the Pavilion with The Ripple Effect OVERVIEW: Letโ€™s be honest. Life gives us plenty of serious moments. This night is not one of them. TIME: Join us from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM for a night of spontaneous comedy with The Ripple Effect, an improv troupe that travels around the DMV bringing laughter to places where people could use a little more joy. Hospitals, community events, gatherings like this one. Anywhere people need a good laugh, we show up and start a ripple. And once the laughter starts, it spreads fast. POOL: The pool (heated to 85 degrees) will be OPEN just no making noise during the actual improv show which will be between 9-10:30pm. Bring your own towel and note you cannot take a shower at the Happy Treehouse. WHAT IS INPROV: If youโ€™ve never seen improv live before, youโ€™re in for a treat. Nothing is scripted. No one knows whatโ€™s going to happen next, including us. The entire show is built in real time based on your suggestions from the audience. You might shout out a job. A location. A random object. And suddenly youโ€™re watching a scene about a dog therapist with boundary issues or a married couple arguing about who forgot to charge the emotional support Roomba. Thatโ€™s the magic of improv. Quick thinking, unexpected twists, and the kind of laughter that sneaks up on you. Why people love watching improv You laugh harder because you never see the joke coming. You get to participate by shouting out ideas that shape the scene. You watch performers build something hilarious out of thin air. And the whole audience ends up laughing together because everyone is experiencing something that has never happened before and will never happen again. WHY COME?: Youโ€™ll definitely walk out feeling lighter than when you walked in. And along the way you might meet a few new people who also enjoy laughing. Because honestlyโ€ฆ who doesnโ€™t want funny friends? VIBE FOR THE NIGHT & WHAT TO BRING: The vibe for the evening This is a relaxed BYOB potluck gathering under the pavilion. Bring your favorite drink. Bring a dish to share. Bring a lawn chair if you have one. If you forget a chair, no problem. You can grab one of the chairs here, relax on the in-ground trampoline, or find a cozy spot around the pavilion. Weโ€™ll have the fire going, sโ€™mores ready, and plenty of room to settle in and enjoy the show. Think backyard comedy club meets campfire hangout. Great people. Great laughs. A little silliness. And a ripple of joy spreading through the crowd. Hope to see you there. Your Happy Host With Southern Charm & North East Wit Janine Driver 202-271-0922

Capoeira
Capoeira
Capoeira (capo-way-ra) is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that is unlike any other martial art. Capoeira incorporates flowing movements with kicks, dodges, and some acrobatics. It is often mistaken for a dance for those reasons. Since itโ€™s origins in the 17th century, it has evolved from a secret fighting practice into an art emphasizing self-expression and community celebration. It is great for the body and mind! In addition to gaining strength and flexibility in class, students learn about Brazilian culture, history, and language (Portuguese). On November 26, 2014 capoeira was granted a special protected status as "intangible cultural heritageโ€ by UNESCO. No need to have a Capoeira background to join this class, just an open mind to try out a new way to move! Beginners welcome. **Please reserve your spot at www.piesfitnessyoga.com**. The session is offered InStudio only. **Sign up for sessions must be made at least 2 hours prior to class.** The address is 1322 Prince St. Alexandria, VA 22314. Our entrance is located on the side of the building, parallel to West St. **Street parking is available and additional parking is located at Shiloh Baptist church, spaces 3,5,7,9.** The church is located across the street from the studio, on the corner of Duke St. and West St.

REST, RESTORE, RECONNECT: When Slowing Down Feels Hard
This offering, *Rest. Restore. Reconnect: When Slowing Down Feels Hard*, was born from a truth I know intimately โ€” that rest isnโ€™t always easy. That stillness can feel unfamiliar. That slowing down can bring us face-to-face with everything weโ€™ve been carrying. **And yetโ€ฆ itโ€™s also where the healing begins.** **[REGISTER HERE](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/rest-restore-reconnect-3-week-yin-restorative-popup-yoga-experience-tickets-1988229785811?aff=oddtdtcreator)** **DROP INS: $20.00 PER SESSION** **ALL THREE SESSIONS: $60.00** **TWO FOR ONE ALL THREE SESSIONS: $70.00 (invite a friend)** **DATES: Saturday, June 13, Saturday, June 20, and Saturday, June 27** **TIMES: 10 AM - 11 AM** Over the course of three Saturdays, weโ€™ll gather in a space at the **Black Owned Teahouse: [Adjourn Teahouse](https://adjournteahouse.com) in Lanham, MD,** intentionally curated for softness, support, and gentle return. Speak Easy (Storytelling)
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for June is "Roadtrip" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
