Borders Our host, Jenn, is looking for stories about borders. A physical barricade. A social stigma. A self-imposed ideal. What borders have you had to cross? We’re looking for true, first-person stories about getting past whatever’s in your way, or at least trying your darndest to. The *Borders* live storytelling show is on Thursday, 30th April. If you’ve got a story or just an idea in mind, come to one of our pitch workshops at the beginning of April. If your story is shortlisted for the show, our host will work with you as you polish and rehearse it. 📌 Story Requirements: * Your story must be true * It must be told in the first person—you are the main character * It should be between 5-10 minutes You don't need to have a completed or polished story ready - just a beginning idea is okay. This workshop is open to individuals at all levels, first-timers or old hands. The purpose of Hong Kong Stories is to help you become a better storyteller. Everyone has a story to tell, and everyone loves a story. Note: Please update your RSVP, ideally 12 hours before the event if you're unable to make it. This month we are having another moderator lead community discussion, this time around The Placebo Effect. As we previously did on the topic of plant based "meats", we will: 1. Poll the audience on their knowledge and attitude to the Placebo Effect 2. Have a quick introduction overview talk by our moderator on the Placebo Effect to get some common ground 3. Have a moderator lead community discussion to explore many aspects of the Placebo Effect 4. Poll the audience a second time to see if the discussion has changed anyone's answers (Noting as good scientific skeptics we should be open to changing our mind when presented with new evidence) Since this is a community discussion, you as an attendee will be a big part of the success of the night, so do come along prepared to listen and speak up! The Forge does have a full bar and kitchen. There is no cover charge but they do request all attendees to purchase a minimum of ~$20 per person. Soft drink refills are $1 each. Facilitated by hearing folks (with a connection to a professional interpreter) using Deaf-created content. People of all ASL skill levels are welcome!
