Screen Acting: Weekly Self Tape Practice
Weekly self tape practice for actors with Actorverse. www.actorverse.co.uk
What do we do differently? In this Self Tape Practice we will explore and tape the scene section by section. This means we will break the scene down into units and tape each one. Reviewing and reflecting on choices openly, we will test new tactics and at the end of the process we record 2 full takes. This process allows actors to discover nuance rather than just receiving broad notes after a long read through. It's a more immersive, practical and actor-focused way of working that helps each actor truly unlock the scene.
What to Expect:
Live Coaching & Direction
Reflect on choices, receive adjustments, and elevate your performance in the moment.
On-Camera Practice
Learn practical screen-acting techniques in a supportive, small-group setting. This is about growth and improving your skills as much as it is about walking away with a great tape.
Professional Setup
Film your scene using quality camera, good sound and right framing—no DIY guesswork, just results that look and feel professional.
Receive Your Footage off-charge after the session
Investment : £25 with own script (includes sent footage) | £29 with a provided script.
Need help choosing your scene? – Please choose the right ticket option. We’ll provide a script that fits well for taping and showcases your ability. Simply let us know your playing age at the checkout and preferred genre.
We encourage all actors to reflect openly on their work — what landed, what didn’t, and why.
Optional Extra :
Want a polished version of your best take? We offer professional editing that includes trimming, colour correction, and clean presentation (£10)
Please arrive slightly earlier than the class start time so we begin on time. Thank you!

London Bridge Writers' Group - Pub Meet
**The Talbot Room at the George Inn**
The George provides the room free of charge (they are awesome), and we encourage you to purchase drinks (and food – the burgers are great!). As it’s a pub and not a picnic area, please don’t consume your own food and drink there.
We usually meet in the Talbot room which is on the top floor on the left hand side of the pub as viewed from the courtyard. If lost please send a message here shortly before the meeting starts.
**We are sorry to say that there is no step-free access to the Talbot room, and it is at the end of three flights of stairs.**
**Format**
We start at 7pm and run until 9pm. We hear approximately six readings of 10 minutes (\~2000 words), then discuss the piece for 10 minutes. Email your work to: london60transmitter@emailitin.com as an attachment (It must be an attachment). A link for access to googledocs will be given at the start of each session to enable people to read along, which in turn enables more considered feedback. Work submitted will be automatically deleted after 10 days. We decide on readers/pieces at the beginning of each session.
**Safe and respectful space**
The group is run by volunteers, and we don’t have the capacity to read submitted work in advance. If there is anything in your work that might distress or disturb some readers, for example concerning any kind of abuse, please give a trigger warning before you read. Be specific and concise. If it becomes apparent during a reading that a piece is inappropriate, the moderator will stop the reading. In discussing others’ work, please be mindful of how you express yourself and do not use discriminatory language, even if such language features in the piece.

MEET AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE NATIONAL THEATRE.
If you are wondering what this group can provide for you, it’s above all else friendship with other like minded people, whether you are a screenwriter, director, cameraperson, actor etc etc.
With that in mind, on Saturday we will do the following:
1. We’ll meet at the National Theatre on Southbank.
2. We’ll split into two groups (or more if needed)
3. Each team will try and beat the other teams to a pub in EC1 in London and edit (maybe) the film.
BUT
4. Each team must make a 2 minute 30 seconds film on the way with a beginning middle and end, a solid story arc for the main character, etc.
Remember to bring:
1. You and your enthusiasm
2. A camera (iPhones dslrs whatever)
3. Someone willing to do an edit after we arrive back at the on their computers
All teams will then meet-up at a pub in EC1 and watch what we have filmed, happy with what they have learnt!
The first team that finishes gets a Small Prize!
Hopefully then, you will stick around to have a great time chatting about film, meeting new people, and forgetting about work until the late hours.
Look forward to seeing you there!

Saturday Acting Workshop - CORIOLANUS
Following our critically acclaimed productions of OTHELLO, MACBETH and TWELFTH NIGHT the Acting gymnasium's Saturday workshop returns to Theatre Deli on Saturday 28th March with a new imagining of Shakepeare's CORIOLANUS. Plenty of superb roles available!!
Set in a post-apocalyptic landscape, Coriolanus, a fierce and proud Roman general, earns fame after defeating Rome’s enemies, especially at Corioli. Despite his military success, he despises the common people and refuses to flatter them for political gain. Urged to seek public office, his arrogance alienates citizens, leading to his banishment. In anger, he allies with his former enemy Aufidius and marches against Rome. As destruction looms, his mother, Volumnia, pleads with him to spare the city. Moved by her words, he relents, choosing honor over revenge. His decision saves Rome but seals his fate, as he is killed for betraying his allies in return.

Jules and Jim, the Book!
By popular demand, the group wanted to read and discuss the semi-autobiographical novel by Henri-Pierre Roche, that inspired the Truffaut movie we watched last year.
The book is available through the Columbus Library's interlibrary loan system. They reported there are twenty-eight copies available in the state of Ohio. If you have a library card, you can file an interlibrary loan request here: https://www.columbuslibrary.org/library-services/ . There are also used copies available on Amazon and eBay for under twenty dollars.
You may want to rewatch the movie after reading the book, so we can compare and contrast in our discussion. The Columbus Library has four copies on DVD, and it's streaming on HBOMax.
