Notre unicitĂ© se replie, notre expression se filtre, et notre vie devient plus petite que ce que nous portons rĂ©ellement. Or deepened your relationship with someone in your life? It's not easy to have a deep conversation. While small talk, which is typically casual and light-hearted, can help break the ice, it may not necessarily help you form a deep, emotional connection with someone. Whether it's with your friends, family, colleagues or romantic partners, having meaningful conversations is important for creating strong bonds. "Meaningful conversations help us understand ourselves and those around us better. They involve sharing important aspects of ourselves and actively listening, validating and connecting with others." We believe that a happy and healthy life is built on beautiful relationships and that loneliness kills us. That's it. You can write down your favourite topics/questions before the meeting. The meeting is participative and invite everyone if you feel comfortable being a leader and a power of suggestion. Anyway, to keep the meeting running smoothly, I'll animate the meeting to make sure the conversation doesn't get wild or boring and I wouldn't hesitate to reframe people. In case of lack of inspiration we have a lot of deep conversation question card game which can help to find interesting questions. ● 🍕 (Not compulsory) After the meeting we can finish in a nearby restaurant for those who wish to relax or continue our conversation. Advice for a good moment : ● Leave your ego and mask at home, we are not here to impress anyone but to be ourselves with our strength, weakness, pride and shame. Come with an open/deep/emotional/complex thought and vulnerability. ● Ask open-ended questions and invite the other person to describe what a situation was like for them or how they felt. ● Don't hesitate to be vulnerable and share information about yourself if needed. Consider sharing personal information first to gain the other person's trust. ● Adopt an attitude of curiosity and genuine interest in what the other person is saying. Be thoughtful and try to put yourself in the other person's shoes so that you can see things from their perspective. Be truthful, caring and honest. ● Listen actively and ask follow-up questions. ● Be empathetic and offer emotional validation so that they feel seen and heard. It is forbidden to judge, but try to understand. ● ⏱ Be aware of your speaking time for Equally Speak. ● đŸ€« Be aware never to provoke political or religious ideologies, but to accept differences of belief. Advice on non-violent communication can be given in the meeting to learn not to unintentionally hurt anyone when requested or needed. ● 🚹 Remember to maintain a safe, and benevolent environment. This is an in-person meeting. Did you know that unwanted emotions like loneliness, sadness, hopelessness, anger, fear, anxiety, or feelings of irritation don’t just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not chemical imbalance in your brain due to some nebulous chemical reactions by chance. Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you. The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life. For instance, let's say you are already carrying a huge load on your back, then you cannot take on much more, but, let's say something else happens to you, such as the difficulties from the Pandemic, then the resultant combined weight on you can take you over the edge, kind of like the straw that break the camel's back. When this happens, people's attention usually goes to the straw that was added, but actually the majority of the weight had come from the huge load that were already there, holding a person down and causing a person issues. So how do you remove the huge load that was already there? How do you lighten them up? Is it possible to get rid of them? That is what this meeting will be all about. Studies show that people who suffer from long-term emotional pain have painful experiences in their lives that were never fully resolved in their mind. In other words, there were issues in the past that were not completely dealt with. This can include abuse in childhood, breakups, divorce, death of a loved one, to name a few. How do you know whether you have gotten over something painful? Here is an easy test: Do you still have attention on what had happened to you? For instance, do you still find yourself thinking about something painful that you went through? If you are, then you are not over it. In fact, in severe cases, people find themselves playing a "tape" in their mind over and over again. So how do you heal from your past? How do you stop the "tape" playing in your mind? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing! Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor. Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
