Join us for an engaging and inspiring life drawing sessions at the Toynbee Art Club in Aldgate Shoreditch, London. Our friendly and talented life models will strike poses for you to sketch and paint in a nurturing and supportive environment. **The workshop consists of two sessions:** **Sunday 12th and Monday 13th of April** **10.00am- 4.00pm (on-site)** For many of us, working from life -especially with a model- is a cornerstone of our artistic practice. Building on a long tradition, we often reach a point where we crave more personal expression in our work. Whether this urge arises on day one or after years of practice, the question remains: How do we find our unique artistic voice? How can we expand into abstraction or imagination? How do we bridge the gap between working with a model in the studio and continuing our creative journey at home? Sharing from their personal practice, Suzon will guide participants in discovering and nurturing their own creative voice throughout this two-day workshop. An opportunity to expand your creative toolbox and discover new ways of working. **Day 1** We’ll explore visual brainstorming techniques and discover how to infuse our paintings with a deeply personal touch. Focusing on one key concept at a time, we’ll experiment with pushing, stretching, and playing with these ideas to develop a language that feels both personal and intentional. • How can we use values to evoke specific sensations? • Which colours best convey our emotions? • How can our marks and composition and add deeper layers of meaning to our work? By the end of the day, you’ll have learned new skills and ways to engage creatively. Most importantly, you’d have remembered that ‘Learning to paint well’ is one great thing, but ‘Learning to create the paintings that no one else’s but you could paint’ is the true magic! **Day 2, working with a model** We’ll apply our expanded creative toolbox to the unique challenge of working with a model. Moving beyond straightforward representation, we’ll create paintings that are grounded in reality yet elevated by your personal artistic choices. No two paintings will be the same: they’ll each be a mirror of your unique artistic voice. These two days are perfect for anyone eager to deepen their connection to their creative voice and develop a more personal painting practice. I am a native, qualified teacher of English and this is a session designed for you to go over any particular issues that you have in English - grammar, exam preparation, pronunciation, vocabulary and so on - as well as to practise your conversational skills discussing current topics. Accessible-format life drawing and portrait session with a range of poses from 2 minute tutor-led warm up exercises to 15 mins in the first half of the class with general tips and tuition. In the second half, a long portrait pose of 35-40 mins with a demo/draw-along led by tutor Rod who will show and talk through the process of drawing a portrait in front of the class. Let's take another field trip out of SW. [Merry Pin](https://www.merrypindc.com/) at 7350 Georgia Ave., NW is kindly allowing us to crash their monthly Sip and Stitch, where we can indulge in adult drinks and light snacks as we craft. And as well-situated as the library is, the atmosphere is rather austere whereas Merry Pin is.... merry. And crafty. Their event starts at 5:30pm but they're open until 9 so don't feel pressured to get there early. I intend to get to Georgia Ave-Petworth station around 5-5:15 and make a judgment call about taking the D40 for 20 minutes up Georgia ave or a lyft/uber for a 15 minute ride. Depending on how many of us make it at 5 (I know it's early), I might just pay for a car and make all of our lives easier.
