Identity game evening - self-improvement & learning about each other
Get to know others and discover, reinforce & improve yourself through this psychological community game!
**"Identity**" is a psychological self-improvement game that lets participants have a glimpse into themselves and each other from different aspects of life and providing opportunity to share relevant experiences and thoughts. You'll get a random simple task with every card you draw such as:
**"Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be.**" -> How could you use this insight? What does it say to you? How does it bring you forward?
"**When did you last have me-time?** What did you do? What things do you usually do for your own joy?"
"**Every ending opens up a new gate.**" -> Recall at least 2 painful stations in your life when something important for you ended! What good things could begin thanks to these endings?
Substantial short talks in a respectful, non-judgemental (really: judgements, *even advices* are forbidden by the rules!) environment, while comfortably having a drink. Let others surprise you positively, learn about them, reflect on yourself internally and improve your personal life thanks to select short tasks that aim to bring you forward!
**The game will be held in english!**
The game only exists in hungarian version, so for instant translation of the cards, **Google Lens is recommended on your phone**!
The event will be held in the "Másik Szoba" Café and Bar (part of the Élesztőház):

Könyvklub: Katherine Addison -- A koboldcsászár
One-day Improv Theatre Workshop in English in Budapest
One-day improv theatre workshop in English held in Budapest instructed by Abel Farkas. No acting experience is required. The event is organised by Flow Theatre. The workshop is from 9:45-17:00 (with a lunchbreak in the middle)
Early Bird discount until the 31st of March.
Registration is required to participate, and the class is limited to 14 participants. Please register using the link below:
https://shop.flowszinhaz.hu/one-day-improv-theatre-workshop-with-abel-3/
Everybody has the ability to improvise. We do it in our everyday life. In theatre, others are watching us, and we feel we are required to perform well. This creates frustration within us and makes it difficult to act naturally. In improv, another obstacle is that we have no idea what our partner(s) will do and how we can create the connection between us. This uncertainty creates further frustration. During the workshops, we practice principles and methods which help us overcome and master these problems. The application of these methods go beyond theatre and could be useful in many areas of life, such as relationships, teamwork and communication.
Instructor:
Ábel Farkas, a reserach mathematician, magician and improv instructor. He has spent more than 10 years practicing improv theatre and studied it on three continents in English and Hungarian.
Venue:
Jurányi Produkciós Közösségi Inkubátorház, building A, at the end of the corridor on the 3rd floor (3. szint), the door on the left; the classroom of the Central European Irish Dance Academy (in Hungarian: Közép-Európai Ír Tánc Akadémia).
! Street shoes are not allowed in the rehearsal room. Instead, you may bring indoor shoes, slippers, socks or be barefoot. Comfortable clothes are recommended.
Schedule:
9:45-13:00 workshop
13:00-13:50 lunch break
13:50-17:00 workshop
After the workshop, we usually sit in the bar of Juranyi for a few drinks. All are very welcome!
Price:
Early Bird 16 500 HUF/person (if registered by 21st January)
Normal 19 800 HUF/person
The event is intended for adults, so we are only accepting registrations from adults.
In cases of tardiness or behavior that hinders or disrupts group work, participation may be denied. The decision is at the trainer's discretion. In such situations, we are unable to refund the participation fee.
After registration, the participation fee is non-refundable. Even if a participant is unable to attend, we are unable to issue a refund. In such cases, participation can be transferred to another person.

Duty vs. Results: What Makes an Action Moral?
When judging morality, should we prioritize **intentions/duty** or **outcomes/results**? It introduces two influential philosophers as representatives of these approaches.
* **Immanuel Kant (deontology):** An action is moral when it is done from **duty** and follows rational, universal principles (the **categorical imperative**). Certain acts—like lying—are wrong regardless of the consequences; you can’t do a wrong thing for a right reason.
* **John Stuart Mill (utilitarian consequentialism):** The morality of an action is determined by its **effects**, specifically how much **happiness/well-being** it produces. Mill argues that some pleasures are “higher” than others, and that good intentions don’t redeem harmful outcomes.
## Discussion Questions
1. **The lying dilemma:** A murderer comes to your door and asks if your friend is hiding inside. Kant would say you must not lie.
2. **Can good intentions rescue a bad outcome?**
3. **The organ harvest problem:** A surgeon has five patients dying of organ failure and one healthy patient in for a checkup. Killing the one to harvest organs would save five lives, and the math works out for the utilitarian. Why does this feel so deeply wrong? Is that feeling a point in Kant's favor, or just a bias we should overcome?
4. **Do rules need exceptions?** Kant insists moral rules must be universal, with no exceptions. But most of us can imagine extreme scenarios where any rule seems like it should bend. Does the need for exceptions fatally undermine deontology, or is the strength of the system precisely that it refuses to bend?
5. **Who gets to calculate the consequences?** Utilitarianism asks us to maximize good outcomes, but we're notoriously bad at predicting consequences. If we can't reliably know the results of our actions, is it practical to base our entire moral system on outcomes? Does this uncertainty push us back toward rules and principles?
6. **Everyday morality:** Think about a real moral decision you've made recently, even a small one. Did you reason more like a Kantian (what's the right thing to do in principle?) or more like a utilitarian (what will produce the best result?)? Do most people naturally lean one way?
7. **Justice vs. the greater good:** A town can prevent a deadly plague by sacrificing one innocent person. The greater good is clearly served. But is it just? Can an action be morally right and deeply unjust at the same time?
8. **The big synthesis question:** Are these two systems actually opposed, or do they often arrive at the same answers by different paths? Is it possible that we need both: rules to guide us in the moment and consequences to evaluate systems and policies over time?

In-Person Event: The Answers to Depression & Anxiety
This is an in-person meeting. At this meeting you will get answers to depression and anxiety. Find out the source of them and how to get rid of them.
Did you know that unwanted emotions like anxiety, depression, unhappiness, loneliness, hopelessness, anger, fear, or feelings of irritation don’t just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not due to a chemical imbalance in your brain from some nebulous chemical reaction "by chance".
Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you.
The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life.
Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life.
Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there.
This group is created by the Hubbard Dianetics Foundation of Central Ohio and Church of Scientology of Central Ohio.
