Literary Reading Group: “A Good Man is Hard to Find" by Flannery O'Connor
Literary Reading Group: “A Good Man is Hard to Find" by Flannery O'Connor
We will discuss our reactions and interpretations of Flannery O'Connor's most anthologised short story, readable online in the first 32 pages of the document [here](https://jerrywbrown.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/A-Good-Man-Is-Hard-To-Find-and-other-stories-OConnor-Flannery.pdf) (this document's spacing and font make the story much longer, it is about 11 pages in my edition). This is a story from 1955 which builds on the theme of the southern gothic genre which we explored last time with Faulkner's story (though O'Connor self described her genre as "Christian Realism"). The story is interested in theological and moral questions, and will hopefully provide many interesting questions for us to ponder as we explore its ideas. I look forward to speaking about it with you!

Support Group for Failed Meditators & Other Spiritual Misfits
You went on that retreat, read the book, commited to meditate daily. And here you are at 3 am, drunkenly staring down a Žižkov doner, wondering what went wrong. You are not alone! Come share your spiritual misadventures. Its a space where you can bring a poem, story, koan etc. Or just come and hang out. All paths and experiences are welcome. This week we are meeting at ShenGen Klub. Your clothes will smell like incense! If you can't make it please adjust your RSVP to make space for others.
Open philosophical discussion in the heart of Prague
Open philosophical discussion in the heart of Prague
Welcome to the international Café Philo in Prague. We meet every first Saturday of the month in the cosy [Café Millème](https://store11473398.ecwid.com) in the center of Prague. We choose a participant randomly, by lottery, who then has the privilege to determine the topic of our discussion. We will reflect, ponder and exchange arguments until our brains are on fire. Philosophy isn't just something for universities, it is a way to open your mind to new thoughts and questions. No application is necessary, there is no entrance fee and there are no prerequisites for participating, except curiosity and respect for other people. We meet from 17:15 until 18:45 to follow together the white rabbit into the wonderland of philosophy... More information about me under this [link](https://sophonautik.ch/english/).
CACAO AND BREATHWORK: FLUIDITY
CACAO AND BREATHWORK: FLUIDITY
There is a wisdom that lives in the sea — in its depth, its movement, its light. In this three-part series, we begin each ceremony with cacao to root into the body, soften, and arrive. From there, breath becomes a doorway into the inner waters — into movement, feeling, release, and deeper contact with what lives within. Each ceremony explores a different quality of the inner ocean: Fluidity — trusting the flow of life Depth — the courage to feel Luminosity — the light beneath the surface You are welcome to join the full journey or come to any ceremony individually. Each session is a complete experience on its own, while also forming part of a deeper unfolding process. FLUIDITY - This evening is an invitation to release tension and rigidity, reconnect with your body’s intelligence, and trust the movement of life through you. This practice includes intensive breathwork and cacao. It is not suitable for those who are pregnant or have epilepsy, glaucoma, serious heart conditions, severe cardiovascular disease, unmanaged severe hypertension, or acute psychiatric disorders. If you have any health concerns, please reach out in advance so the practice can be adapted safely. If you have food allergies or sensitivities, please also let us know beforehand. When: Thursdays 9/4, 16/4, 23/4 at 19:00 Price: 450 CZK per ceremony / 1100 CZK full cycle via atmaprague@gmail.com

\*\*\*\*\* We're meeting both in-person and virtually via Skype depending on the week. Contact Sonya Lano for more information if you want to join \*\*\*\*\* This is for anyone wanting feedback! We mostly focus on novels and longer works, but short stories are welcome, as well. You can submit anything you want feedback on in any genre. Current word limit for submissions is 4,000 words. Send your submissions by 13:30 the Thursday before the meeting (or we have a grace period during which you can submit a lower limit of 2,500 words if you submit by midnight Thursday evening). Also, if you don't have time to read through everyone's submissions, still join the meeting! We know that busy schedules don't always make finding reading time easy. To submit, use the Dropbox folder. If you don't have access to it, send sonyalakadosch@yahoo.com your e-mail address so I can add you. Looking forward to seeing everyone there! My number in case of any confusion the day of the meeting is 737 118 530 - or on Facebook: Sonya Lano (https://www.facebook.com/sonya.lano) DROPBOX INFO: * add new submissions for the next meeting in the " submissions" folder for the meeting date. Put your name at the beginning of the file name (for example: "Sonya Somewhere in the Dark") * When providing written feedback (not required, but deeply welcome), save the file as a separate document on your device, then mark your changes/ feedback in the saved file. After you're finished, put the file in the "Feedback" folder under the folder for the meeting date and then under the person the feedback is for (e.g. "For Sonya"). * The submissions folder will be replaced within a week after the meeting has taken place. Feedback will be deleted within 2 months after the meeting, so if you need it longer than that, make sure to copy it to your own disk.
Prague Teacher’s Meetup Group
Prague Teacher’s Meetup Group
This is an informal event for English speaking teachers. We network, build relationships and exchange ideas. If you’re facing any challenges, than feel free to talk about it with the group. Jeffie has been able to successfully collect payment from a work benefit. If you like to hear about it, free to ask her at the next meetup. As an elementary school teacher I've noticed that Czech schools seem to have less tells for behavior modification than American schools (though generally well behaved students). I would love to hear from other teachers what their behavior modification methods are. I ask for 30 crowns to cover the cost of monthly meet-up groups. I look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones. See you soon Aaron
DANCE MOVEMENT THERAPY
DANCE MOVEMENT THERAPY
Dance-Movement Therapy is a somatic practice that uses spontaneous movement as a way of self-exploration. This workshop offers a gentle introduction to the principles of dance-movement therapy. It is not a dance class and not a fitness session. There are no steps to learn and no choreography to follow. Participants are guided through simple movement and awareness exercises, sometimes individually and sometimes in interaction with others. The focus is on listening to the body, noticing impulses, and allowing movement to arise naturally. Through this process, participants may experience greater grounding, emotional awareness, and nervous system regulation. The atmosphere is supportive and non-judgmental. The intention is to create a safe and accessible space for exploration, not therapy. No previous movement experience is required. Facilitated by Marie Vejvodova, who completed a 4.5-year certified professional training in dance-movement therapy. She continues to deepen her education in somatic and self-development approaches in the Czech Republic and abroad. In her work, she creates a respectful and non-judgmental space where participants can reconnect with themselves through authentic movement. 250 CZK, REGISTER: https://vev.co/atma-community-space-praha

Humanist Program
Humanist Program
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be. Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk. Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. In addition to his comics, Santoro has been an influential voice in comics education and criticism, co-founding the magazine *ComicsComics* and creating the **Santoro Correspondence Course for Comic Book Makers**, which has helped train and inspire a new generation of cartoonists.
