*** SOJO at Quincy Park at 12:00 Noon (4/18/26)
\*\*\* NEW TIME AND NEW LOCATION \*\*\*
Now that the weather is warm, we'll throw in some outdoor SOJOs. Be sure to check the website to confirm time and location for each session. Very important that you RSVP so we can contact you if weather forces us to cancel or revert to our indoor location.
Bring your folding chairs and join us at Quincy Park at 12:00 Noon. Quincy Park is easy to find, only .3 miles from the chapel. There is plenty of street parking available on weekends on N. Nelson and Washington Blvd. There is also a parking lot on the northwest corner of the park with an entrance on N. Quincy. Check out the map posted on this page. You'll find us near the picnic tables or playground area. See you at SOJO!
Seasoned SOJO'ers already know the program, but below are all the details which may be helpful to our new members.
MOST IMPORTANT POINTS:
1. If you have copies of Rise Up Singing and Rise Again, please bring them. If you don't, we may have some extras available for you to borrow (one time only, please). Both books are easy to find and order online.
2. Feel free to bring lyrics and chords to hand out for songs not in the book. If you'd like to bring a song that most people don't know well, see if you can find a YouTube link and post it in the comments when you RSVP. We'd like to listen a few times before the SOJO to get the hang of it.
3. Bring something to drink, as singing is likely to make you thirsty.
4. We appreciate but do not require, any contributions ($5, or whatever) to help pay for the rent at the chapel.
5. Please do RSVP. It allows us to contact you if we have to cancel.
***
* Our regular gatherings take place on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month. You can come for the whole time or just part of it. Occasionally we take pictures of our events. If you would rather not be photographed, just politely let the person with the camera know and step out of view. We'll be very respectful of your wishes.
Whether you're new to SOJO or not so new, we look forward to singing and playing with you!
New Millennium Rock Hits Jam!
Hello Rockers!
Let's get together and jam out some top hits since the new millennium (since 1/1/2000) at Crescendo Studios in Falls Church, VA. This will be a new venue for our jams and will probably be more accommodating to access for many of our DC Rockers members. The studio is located near the Mosaic District in Merrifield on the eastbound side of Lee Highway (US-29).
We'll be in Studio A on the first floor of the studio which is mostly-equipped with a drum kit, keyboard, sound system, amps and mics. Attendees will be expected to bring their own instruments but should not need to bring amps or speakers.
Here's the setlist for the jam:
\- Drive \(Incubus\)
\- Faint \(Linkin Park\)
\- Last Resort \(Papa Roach\)
\- Mr\. Brightside \(The Killers\)
\- Show Me How to Live \(Audioslave\)
\- Sugar\, We're Goin' Down \(Fallout Boy\)
\- Times Like These \(Foo Fighters\)
\- Uprising \(Muse\)
Looking forward to jamming with you!
Ukulele Repertoire for All!
**SAT Feb 28th from 12:15-1:15pm**
Learn a fun arrangement for ukulele in the pop, rock, + folk realms. Maureen will provide two different sheets - one arrangement for beginner players (who know 3-4 chords) and another arrangement for intermediate players. This way, everyone wins! Beginners can push their skills with chord changes and intermediate players can enjoy tinkering with riffs and engaging in new strum and picking patterns. On top of it all, we get a layered sound as a group, as both parts weave seamlessly together. Leave with one new song under your belt and a whole lot of happiness! This class meets once a month.

Irish Session Playing by Lilt
Keith + Tina Return!! for a four part Irish Session Class!
Saturdays 1:30-2:30pm 4/18, 5/2, 5/16, + 5/30
limited to 15 participants!
Across the globe, the beating heart and home of traditional Irish music is the session. Whether it takes place in a pub or around a kitchen table, the session is where musicians share tunes, learn from one another, and enjoy good company.
This course offers a chance to play traditional Irish dance tunes — jigs, reels, polkas, and hornpipes — while discovering how a session works under the guidance of two veteran session leaders. Join the acclaimed Irish duo Lilt — Keith Carr on bouzouki, banjo, and mandolin, and Tina Eck on flute and whistle — for a multi-week journey into the music and magic of the Irish session. The course will culminate in a celebratory session and potluck gathering for friends, family, and the public.
Keith and Tina each host regular sessions at Irish pubs throughout the DMV and have been nominated for numerous awards. They have performed at prestigious venues including Wolf Trap, the Kennedy Center, the Irish Embassy, The Birchmere, and countless music festivals. Their four albums have earned praise from critics and audiences alike. Learn more about Lilt at https://liltirishmusic.com.

These classes are a lot of fun and a great way to get out and play with other people while learning some really fun music.
