Hola a todos!! Traemos una conferencia muy interesante dada la época en la que vivimos. La era de la información actual nos ha llevado a un continuo flujo de noticias y acontecimientos que nos desbordan y colapsan nuestra capacidad de conocer, comprender, aplicar e integrar. Y al mismo tiempo, un fenómeno que está llevándonos a la confusión es la información falsa ( fake news ) que nos diluvia constantemente haciendo que entremos en disonancias cognitivas y distorsiones de la percepción de la realidad. En esta conferencia vamos a poner el foco en cómo poder reconocer las fuentes del conocimiento y tener un criterio personal más adecuado para la vida y el día a día. Partiremos de las antiguas enseñanzas e iremos viajando a través del tiempo hasta nuestro presente e iremos a debatir sobre las posibilidades de futuro. Será un viaje divertido y ameno!! Buenas de nuevo, gatos curiosos! **El día 20 de junio propongo un plan matinal en el que asistiremos a una sesión a bóveda completa del planetario de la fundación CosmoCaixa y visitaremos la parte del museo dedicada a la Astronomía , la sala universo( no el museo completo, pues requeriría más tiempo.)** **Después de la visita al planetario, propongo que nos traslademos al restaurante temático Verne, dedicado a este gran maestro y pionero de la ciencia ficción.** Este restaurante, ubicado en la calle Aribau, 150, es el ideal para tomarse un refresco y admirar su ambientación , pues parece que estás en un submarino o comiendo en las entrañas de la tierra. **La sesión del planetario es de 8 euros, que incluye entrada al museo. En el restaurante Verne, especializado en tapas y rolls bocadillos con muchos ingredientes, cada uno paga lo que consume.** Espero que os guste este plan alternativo al de la agrupación Astronómica Aster, a la que he renunciado por el alto coste que nos pedían por persona. El presidente nos exigía 30 euros por persona por una hora y media de actividad y , al intentar rebajar el precio, se me ha negado. Se trata de pasarlo bien, pero sin que el precio sea excesivo, al menos esa es mi filosofía en este grupo. Os espero en este astronómico encuentro! Hasta pronto!!

In this inaugural trip of the group, I will take you to non-popular places very close to Barcelona. First we will visit an ancient Iberic town strategically located at the top of a mountain. Next we will go for a short hike to the highest point in Montcada i Reixac. We will face steep grounds until it is not possible to continue in bicycle and then we continue by foot. Not recommended for beginners. Panoramic 360 view of Barcelona and the Vallés. Water, food, sunscreen and sunglasses are needed. Also a bicycle lock and emergency kits for your bikes. Any bike with low gears and gravel tires is welcome.

**¡NUEVA RUTA DESCUBRIDORA!** Seguimos con nuestras **rutas culturales originales y distintas** para conocer **todos los rincones de la ciudad.** En esta ocasión, os proponemos una recorrido lleno de contrastes por los barrios de Diagonal Mar y el Besòs. Y es que a a pocos metros de distancia, en esa parte del Distrito de Sant Martí, nos encontramos con una de las **zonas más elitistas y caras** de Barcelona al lado de uno de los barrios **más populares y obreros de la ciudad.** Hemos preparado pues, un recorrido de 2h en el que iremos del Parc de Diagonal Mar, diseñado por Enric Miralles, hasta el centro del Barrio del Besòs, pasando por los rascacielos y hoteles singulares del Pg. Garcia Fària, el Fòrum...etc. Sin duda, una estética más propia de EEUU y Miami que de una ciudad mediterránea como la nuestra. Así veremos el gran cambio que supuso para la zona, la construcción de este nuevo barrio a raíz del **Fórum Universal de las Culturas**, y cómo contrastó con la historia de un **barrio humilde y obrero**, surgido en los años 60 y 70 en una zona de rieras y alejada de la ciudad. En la segunda parte de nuestra ruta, nos pasearemos por las calles de los barrios del **Maresme y el Besòs**, analizando su urbanismo, su historia y el pasado relacionado con los barrios de barracas del **Camp de la Bóta**. Éste es nuestro **PLAN**: 1. Encuentro en el metro de Selva de Mar e iniciamos ruta! 2. Recorrido por el Parc de Diagonal Mar, los rascacielos y las zona más espectacular del barrio. 3. Pasamos por el Fòrum y recordamos qué había allí antes de su titánica construcción. 4. Seguimos ruta hacia los barrios del Maresme y el Besòs. Hablaremos de su historia y urbanismo utópico. 5. A Socrates Café meetup is considered a success when participants leave a discussion with many more questions than they had at the beginning. WHAT TOPICS ARE DISCUSSED AT THE MEETUP? Participants suggest topics at the beginning of each meeting. We then vote and choose that event's most popular topic for discussion. No academic training in philosophy necessary; just enthusiasm for exchanging ideas and points of view. Some examples of subjects chosen on previous meetups: What ideals are worth dying for? Come grab a drink and a seat at The Oracle. **Optional topic for this meetup: Where is everybody?** In 1950 the physicist Enrico Fermi was talking about aliens over lunch and asked a question that still has not gone away: if the universe is so vast and so old, and even a fraction of those billions of stars have planets, where is everyone? By the numbers the galaxy should be crowded with civilizations. Instead we look up and hear silence. That gap between "they should be everywhere" and "we see no one" is the Fermi Paradox. One of the most unsettling answers is the idea of a **Great Filter**: somewhere on the road from dead chemistry to a galaxy-spanning civilization, there is at least one step that is almost impossible to get past. Maybe the filter is behind us. Maybe life starting at all, or simple cells becoming complex, or intelligence ever evolving, is the freak accident, and we already cleared the hard part. Or maybe the filter is ahead of us, and advanced civilizations reliably wipe themselves out before they spread. Here is the part that messes with people. If we ever found life somewhere else, even pond scum on Mars, most people would call it the greatest discovery in history. But it might be the worst possible news. It would mean life is common, the early steps are easy, and the hard step is still in front of us. So the eerie silence overhead might actually be the best sign we could ask for. **Questions to wrestle with:** * Is it better to be alone? Would you rather we find alien life and learn we are not special, or find nothing and quietly improve our odds of surviving? * Where do you bet the filter sits, behind us or ahead of us, and why? * If it is ahead of us, what is it? Nuclear war, climate collapse, AI, something we cannot even picture yet? And can we do anything about a filter we cannot see coming? * Two principles pull opposite ways here. The principle of mediocrity (the Copernican principle, Sagan's "no privileged place in the universe") says we are ordinary, so what happened on Earth probably happened everywhere, which makes the silence scream louder. The anthropic principle says of course we find ourselves somewhere life was possible, since we could not observe anything else, so our being here may say almost nothing about how common life is. Which lens do you trust, and does the silence still demand an answer once you account for observer selection? * And if we did confirm life out there and had to accept we are not special, what would that do to belief in a higher power, and would shedding (or keeping) that belief help or hurt our odds of pulling together as one species? * Does any of this change how you live, or how humanity should be spending its time and money right now? As always the prompt is optional. Come for the conversation, stay for the drinks, and bring your own questions.
