Location Change: Neurodivergent Language Meetup: German (Conversation)
Location Change: Neurodivergent Language Meetup: German (Conversation)
Welcome! This meetup is for neurodivergent people (ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, OCD, etc.) who are learning German and want a low-pressure, structured space to practice speaking. **Logistics:** *📍Location: Kaffeekreis [https://maps.app.goo.gl/LR2yhChFpEkVB1HD9](https://maps.app.goo.gl/LR2yhChFpEkVB1HD9) - **Please order food or drink from the cafe.** *🎧 Bring sensory management tools (headphones, stim toys, sunglasses, etc) - (Optional) A notebook if you like writing things down **How it works:** 🗣️ **Level-based small groups** When we start, we’ll quickly split into groups based on your self-assessed level (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2). → **Max. 4 people per group** to keep sensory load low and speaking time fair. ⏲️ **Organizers group check** The organizers will come around from time to time to each group and ask if you want to stay in your current group or move to a different level—either higher or lower— or if you’d like to talk in different group. We’ll help you move. No pressure. No questions asked. 🚫 No pressure to speak every round. Just listening is fine. 🃏 **Conversation cards & prompts** Each group gets a set of prompt cards (simple questions, situational tasks, or grammar challenges appropriate for that level). You can follow the cards or go off-script — whatever feels right that moment. Let’s practice German in a way that actually works for our brains. ✨

We've turned the entire learning experience into ***Comprehensible Input* through both simplified and traditional manga** with support for **Zhuyin**, **Pinyin**, **flashcards**, **audio**, **direct translation**, an integrated dictionary. We also specifically design region-specific language to reflect real-life usage in both **mainland Chinese Mandarin** and **Taiwanese Mandarin**, allowing you to naturally compare and explore the differences between the two, so you don’t end up saying something that makes perfect sense in Beijing, but gets you funny looks in Taipei 😏.

Extensions allow developers to customize the editor with new features, integrations, and workflow improvements tailored to their needs. In this session, we’ll cover what extensions are and the different types available, including full extensions written in TypeScript or JavaScript, along with lighter-weight extensions such as color themes, language packs, language support, code snippets, and keymaps. We’ll also look at practical reasons a developer might create an extension, from automating repetitive tasks to adding custom tooling. The session includes a hands-on walkthrough of creating a new extension, testing it locally, and understanding the basic project structure. We’ll close with a brief overview of how extensions are packaged and published to the Visual Studio Marketplace and other distribution options. **YouTube Link** TBD

[Eric Rico: From Joints to Gestures: Reading Hands in Unity] (In-Person) #13
[Eric Rico: From Joints to Gestures: Reading Hands in Unity] (In-Person) #13
Let's get together and listen to **[Eric Rico](https://www.linkedin.com/in/ericrico/)** from Unity3D (**From Joints to Gestures: Reading Hands in Unity**). A hand tracker gives you joints, not a gesture. This talk shows how you get from raw joints to a "thumbs-up" in Unity: the pipeline that cleans up the data, how a gesture becomes a few 0-to-1 values within tolerance, and why orientation matters as much as finger shape. Includes a live demo of tuning gesture thresholds. Eric also runs the **[Columbus Unity User Group](https://www.meetup.com/columbus-unity-user-group/)**. Check it out! ***Bring your laptop and expect to write some (non-AI-generated) code!*** Food and drinks will be available. **LOCATION:** 6515 Longshore Loop, Suite 300, Dublin, OH 43017 **FREE PARKING:** 6725 Longshore Street, Dublin, OH 43017

Columbus Code & Coffee 87 @ Improving
Columbus Code & Coffee 87 @ Improving
Columbus Code & Coffee is an inclusive, informal co-working session. People of all skill levels attend, and we love it that way. Many people (optionally) bring projects to work on, and many other people (optionally) socialize the entire time. It's entirely up to you! **What to Expect at the Intro Circle** \~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~ Near the beginning of the event (1:30 pm), we do a standup: * Organizer announcements, updates, and logistics Round 1 - (7 secs max): * Your name * What you're working on * What you can help others with Round 2: * Community events you wanna plug. If none, that's cool too. Round 3: * Job opportunities you're hiring for OR announce that you are looking for one. If none, that's cool. After the introduction circle, everything is self-organized! Feel free to work alone, pair up, attend one of our workshops/presentations, or mingle!
