German Sprachcafé at Denizen! From A1 to B2 *Read Description
**Hi everyone!**
We’ll now be meeting twice a week at Denizen House (Köpenicker Str. 40, 10179 Berlin), on **Mondays and Wednesdays**!
* **Mondays:** levels A1 to B2
* **Wednesdays:** levels B1 to C1
We work with dedicated materials tailored to each level, so everyone will have a place to practice and improve.
**Event schedule**
* **18:00 – 18:30** Arrival and registration
* **18:30 – 19:50** Sprachcafé
* **19:50 – 20:00** End and clean up
Please be aware that the moderated event starts at **18:30**. Before this time, we are busy setting up the space.
Registrations usually take place around **18:15 / 18:20**.
Participants are kindly asked **not to arrive too far in advance** at the house.
If someone arrives much earlier, Denizen may ask them to pay either for a drink (consumption) or for a **day pass**, as the space is a co-working environment during the day. **Please remember, our event is only happening from 18:00 to 20:00**
**How the Sprachcafé works**
We use different materials to help participants gain confidence in German. Together with whiteboards and our volunteers, the Sprachcafé is based on **interactive conversations** in small groups.
**Participation fee**
The Sprachcafé has a **participation fee of 5 €**, which helps cover organizational costs and **includes one soft drink for free**.
Tickets can be purchased directly on the day of the event, card and cash payments are accepted.
As the Sprachcafé has become very popular, we now need to **limit the number of participants**. Please understand this measure; it ensures that everyone has a comfortable space to practice.
We kindly ask you to be **rücksichtsvoll** and only RSVP “Yes” if you are certain you can attend.
If your plans change at the last minute, please update your RSVP so someone on the waiting list can take your spot.
Getting your ticket early can help secure your place.
**Please note**
Our event will begin **promptly** at the scheduled start time.
If you arrive late, we cannot guarantee your participation, even if you have a ticket or have RSVP’d.
We encourage all guests to arrive on time to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
**About Denizen**
Denizen is a new-style co-working space focused on being an integral part of local communities.
Located on the ground floor of the historic Eiswerk on Köpenicker Straße in Kreuzberg, Denizen House is a communal place providing work, refreshment, and recreational facilities throughout the day. Think of it as a living room for the neighborhood.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to let me know.
If you’d like to contribute to this night, send me a message!
Ich freue mich schon!
Grüße,

CONNECT BEYOND THE PRESET - Berlin Music Tech Meetup #24
**They say May is the month of rebirth.**
So, may we all gather again and recalibrate our collective oscillators.
On **May 18**, we’re moving past the factory settings and diving into the human signal chain. **Connect Beyond the Preset** is an evening dedicated to the tools that make us move and for all the creators, builders, tinkerers, and the curious who know that the most powerful "plugin" in any studio is a fresh perspective.
Move away from the isolated glow of your laptop screen and come into a space where conversation flows as freely as the voltage in a modular rack.
**It is happening on:**
**Monday, May 18 at 6:00 p.m. CET**
**FORUM Factory, Besselstraße 13-14, 10969 Berlin**
This time, we’re opening the floor to the people building the future of expression.
Innovation isn't just about faster processors; it’s about deeper connections. We gather to bridge the gap between the code and the chord, between the builder and the player. This is a networking event in its truest sense. No stiff business cards or corporate bios. Just like-minded people from all areas of life, united by the passion for music and tech, sharing drinks, swapping ideas, and finding their next creative partner-in-crime.
Whether you work in the music business, you're a founder, a musician, a developer, or simply someone who loves where music and technology meet, this evening is made for you.
**FREE ENTRY. FREE DRINKS!**
**Do not sleep on this!**

**PRESENTATIONS**
Expect an evening with local innovators on stage presenting the tools they’ve built to make music education more accessible, push the boundaries of music production, and create new ways of visual expression through music.
The presentations are more like open-source conversations. Meet the local community members who are building bespoke tools and hear the stories behind them. No corporate sales pitches. Just raw, creative problem-solving and inspiration.
**Presenter I**
**Andreas Jacobi** (*CEO und Co-Founder,* [Audiotool](https://www.audiotool.com/) *)*
Making music together is magic. For too long, software got in the way. Audiotool is the only DAW built for collaboration from the ground up — free, browser-based, real-time multiplayer. Now we’re opening the infrastructure — so the next generation of music tools can be built multiplayer, and the ones you already love can become it too.
**Presenter II**
**Aibek Mazhitov** (Founder [Vibely](https://apps.apple.com/uy/app/music-visualizer-vibely/id1528056717))
Aibek is an iOS developer by day and musician by night. He'll be presenting Vibely - a music visualizer app that lets artists and creators turn their audio into stunning visual content in minutes. Inspired by channels like Monstercat and Trap Nation, Vibely is used by creators with millions of followers on TikTok."
**Presenter III**
**Mohammad Tomaraei** (Founder of something new and special)
Almost 40% of new songs on streaming platforms are AI-generated. Human creativity is at risk. That's why I’m building an interactive platform for learning music, singing, and dance through your favorite songs. You focus only on learning what matters to you. It analyzes each song, shows you how it’s built, teaches you how to perform it on instruments like guitar, piano, and drums, and gives real-time feedback as you practice. AI is optional as a personal coach that explains things in a way that makes sense to you.
**Presenter IV**
**David Pocknee** presents a prototype of [Chordite](https://davidpocknee.ricercata.org/funis/index.html) \- a composition\-first music environment\, inspired by video games\. It is software for musical exploration and experimentation\, designed to live alongside and communicate with your DAW\. It provides space to craft music in new ways\, using 3D graphics\, game controllers\, and musicologically\-informed interfaces\.
**LET OTHERS PLAY WITH YOUR TOOL - LIKE FRANK**
We will set up tables on which you can place your laptop, speakers, synth, or other hardware, etc. to let the meetup attendees play with it.
Like Frank Hahn. He will present [Kreuzberg Audio](https://kreuzberg-audio.com) , a Berlin-based plugin forge building tools for modern electronic music production. At the meetup he'll show three of them: KREATUR (premiere), an AI-powered music production tool that puts generative AI to work as a creative instrument without taking control out of the producer's hands; KA-303, the freshly updated acid synthesizer with a dynamic 32-step pattern grid, polyrhythmic page system, MIDI import and five groove engines; and Reecer Synthesizer, the flagship in free public beta with a triple oscillator engine, 29 filters from Moog Ladder to Polivoks, a quad distortion chain, and a composing section with 150 patterns.
You can do this to. Just send us a message here.🙌

Networking & Language Exchange - 🍖international🍻
This is a 3 phase meetup. You can come at any time.
1.) 6:30 - 7:00 p.m.: Gathering at the meeting spot (see link and photo!).
2.) 7:00 - 7:30 p.m.: Walk & Talk through Tiergarten.
3.) 7:30 - 10:00 p.m.: Immerse conversations in the Zollpackhof beer garden (reserved tables for the meetup).
**1.) Meeting spot is Henriette Herz Park.**
Copy the coordinates into your maps app: **52°30'38.9"N 13°22'24.1"E**
The exact meeting spot can also be seen in the photo.
Look for a meetup sign or organizer wearing a black or red lanyard with "staff" written on it.
**Best ways to get there:**
1\. S\-Bahn:
Get off at Potsdamer Platz by S1, S2 or S25 and walk to the designated meeting spot.
2\. U\-Bahn \(subway\):
Alternatively you can get off at Potsdamer Platz by U2 and just walk 5 min straight to the park.
3\. Bus:
If you change at mainstation you can take the M41 or M85 to
S Potsdamer Platz /Voßstr. and walk to the park.
**2.) Walk & Talk through Tiergarten** (the best part imho). During these weird times it essential to connect with nature and like minded people. You will feel instantly energized and an inner calmness afterwards.
**3.) How to the find the Zollpackhof beer garden:**
https://goo.gl/maps/vDYYaJcFvTmd7hei7
Elisabeth-Abegg-Straße 1, 10557 Berlin
We will be sitting outside. Click the gmaps link with the exact meeting spot if you can can't find us!
If you enter from the Magnus-Hirschfeld-Ufer, just go to the left part of the beer garden where the self-service is.
If you enter from Elisabeth-Abegg-Str, enter the beer garden from the right.
*Who is this meetup for:*
1\. Internationals who want to practice German or any other language\.
2\. Germans who want to improve their language skills\.
3\. Anyone who is interested in cultural exchange and wants to socialize\.
*What you can expect:*
1\. A professionally organized meetup that can adapt to any changes given the current situation\.
2\. A Walk & Talk to break the ice\.
3\. A collaborating venue where you can further socialize with other members\.
*important:* This event is at the same time and meeting location like the "Asian Languages & Culture Exchange 日本語, 한국어, 汉语" one. So I'm basically organizing 2 events at the same time which means that you can expect way more people than on the list.
***
Whenever you attend a meetup, the most common as well as first question you get is: "Where are you from?"
You probably heard this question a million times. Well, at least I did.
From my own experience of attending over 200 international meetups in various countries such as Germany, Japan, Australia and Thailand, I can tell you that asking for the name is a better approach.
“A person’s name is to that person, the sweetest, most important sound in any language.” - Dale Carnegie
If you really want to connect with like-minded people you should remember their name, but you don't have to remember every persons name you've talked you. Be picky about that, don't be me who can somehow remember everyones name easily.
Don't tell yourself sth. like "I'm bad at remembering names." It's all about developing the habit of asking for a name and keep the conversation going on.
Furthermore, you want to learn German or any other language. Learning the local language is crucial to connect with the locals and developing a true friendship.
This can be accomplished with immersion. My goal is to inspire you to go out of your comfort zone and improve yourself each time you join this meetup.

🗣️ **Talks**
**➡️ From One App to Many: Scaling Frontend with Domain‑Driven Architecture - [Natalia Dmitrieva](https://www.linkedin.com/in/natalia-dmitrieva-652307124/)**
*How we transformed a React monolith into multiple apps inside one codebase.*
*You always start small: one product, one team, one stakeholder. But once you succeed and need to scale, your original frontend architecture might not be ready for what comes next. As our Sales Process Orchestration Platform expanded to support multiple products and sales channels, our original monolithic application became a bottleneck.*
*In this talk, I'll share how we transitioned to a domain‑driven, multi‑app architecture while deliberately keeping a single React codebase. You'll see how we applied Domain‑Driven Design concepts on the frontend, structured clear boundaries between sales channels, and used Nx to orchestrate builds, enforce architecture rules, and keep teams moving independently without losing shared foundations.*
**➡️ React Native in 2026: Not Your Daddy’s React Native - [Conor Lamb](https://www.linkedin.com/in/conorobrienlamb/)**
*React Native has changed a bunch, and if you haven't looked at it lately you're in for some fun. We'll walk through building a real app with (my beloved 😍) Expo. Talk about project setup to app store submission with detours into AI-assisted development and ofc, talk about the casual masochism that is mobile dev.*
**➡️ The Fourth Platform: How Vega Got Us Surprisingly Close to "Write Once, Run Everywhere" - [Bogdan Plieshka](http://linkedin.com/in/gotbahn/?skipRedirect=true)**
*"Write once, run everywhere" is a promising goal in software development, but one that often breaks down under real-world problems. At Zattoo, building streaming applications across Android, Apple, and Web meant years of separate native stacks that were not aligned, and therefore did not scale. This talk explains how moving to a multiplatform architecture, enabled by Vega as a fourth (React Native first platform), brought us very close to achieving that goal.*

**Mandarin Learner Meetup in Berlin! *(Free resources below)***
**Learning Mandarin is like trying to tame a** 🐲**.**
It can feel frustrating, but you’re not alone. **[WeHanzi](wehanzi.com)** is here to support!
**[WeHanzi](wehanzi.com)** is an independently built iOS app created by Ben and Gina.
We've turned the entire learning experience into ***Comprehensible Input* through both simplified and traditional manga** with support for **Zhuyin**, **Pinyin**, **flashcards**, **audio**, **direct translation**, an integrated dictionary.
We also specifically design region-specific language to reflect real-life usage in both **mainland Chinese Mandarin** and **Taiwanese Mandarin**, allowing you to naturally compare and explore the differences between the two, so you don’t end up saying something that makes perfect sense in Beijing, but gets you funny looks in Taipei 😏.
Now, together with our good friend Matthias from **[Gemeinsam Chinesisch & Deutsch lernen](https://www.meetup.com/gemeinsam-mandarin-chinesisch-und-deutsch-lernen/events/308204343/?eventOrigin=group_upcoming_events),** we’re inviting you to our very first **in-person Mandarin Learner Meetup in Berlin** together!
All levels are welcome, from beginners to advanced learners. Just come hang out, share your stories, laugh at our tone mistakes! As a community, we can learn from each other and turn Mandarin into a piece of cake! 🍰

Rethinking Java for Accelerators: A Toy MLIR/TOSA Compiler with Bruno Caballero
In May, [Bruno Caballero](https://github.com/bruno-ah-um) will show us how to target hardware accelerators from Java with MLIR based on [his fork of the OpenJDK Project Babylon](https://github.com/bruno-ah-um/openjdk-babylon-mlir-tosa).
Bruno leads the Java Virtual Machines Engineering team at [MicroDoc](http://www.microdoc.com), which develops JVMs and maintains ports across various processors and operating systems.
In this talk, we’ll explore a toy project that translates Java code into MLIR for the TOSA dialect, which is used for AI and accelerator workloads. We’ll briefly introduce current approaches (e.g., TornadoVM and Babylon/HAT), before looking at how this project reuses existing compiler infrastructure instead of building new backends. Finally, we’ll touch on whether DSLs should be embedded in general-purpose languages like Java or designed as standalone languages.
Small snacks and drinks will be available. There is always space for outside topics and discussions. If you have specific questions, please bring them. Looking forward to meeting everyone again!

Join us for **[Nathan Leiberman](https://www.linkedin.com/in/nathan-richard-lieberman/)**'s talk ...
Had enough of writing the same flex classes for the hundredth time? Tired of diving into your coworker’s cobbled container class? Tailwind CSS is here to save your sanity.
Tailwind gives you a well-organized, utility-first approach to styling. This CSS framework eliminates naming debates, halts stylesheet scavenger hunts, and satisfies your marketing team’s whims with clear, composable class names and a powerful configuration system. You’ll spend less time fighting CSS and more time building beautiful interfaces.
In this talk, I’ll walk through an interactive demo of Tailwind CSS and cover the following topics:
* Set up Tailwind CSS in your project
* Understand Tailwind’s utility classes and how they work
* Integrate breakpoints and dark mode like a pro
* Customizing Tailwind to fit your style
Ditch your spaghetti stylesheets and come see how Tailwind CSS can make your project lighter, cleaner, and a lot more fun to build. Your future self will thank you.
***Bring your laptop and expect to write some (non-AI generated) code!***

Building Scalable Customer Identity Resolution Pipelines on AWS Using AI
Customer identity resolution becomes increasingly complex as organizations scale across multiple systems, regions, and data formats. Traditional rule-based approaches often fail to keep up with data variability, require constant manual tuning, and struggle with real-time processing needs.
This session presents a practical approach to building a scalable identity resolution pipeline using AWS services and modern AI techniques. The architecture combines data ingestion through Amazon S3 and AWS Glue, transformation pipelines using Spark on EMR, and machine learning models deployed via SageMaker for entity matching and standardization. Graph-based relationship modeling is implemented using Amazon Neptune to improve resolution accuracy by incorporating household and shared attribute context.
We will walk through how machine learning models can be used for name and address normalization, how intelligent blocking strategies improve matching efficiency, and how feedback loops can be introduced to continuously improve accuracy. The session also highlights how serverless components such as AWS Lambda can be used for orchestration and real-time processing.
