Grove Park to Petts Wood
Grove Park to Petts Wood
Dear all, this is an interesting walk with plenty to see, and well worth doing. We will meet at 10.45 am at Grove Park Station, and then walk from there to the Ringway Centre as image above. {You can get to Grove Park Station by train from Cannon Street, Charing Cross, London Bridge and Waterloo East.} My friend is making a dairy and gluten free cake and with a hot drink will charge only £3. After our hot drink and cake we will make our way to Chinbrook Meadows, then through woodland in Elmstead Woods. Our walk will then take us past 2 railway stations, Elmstead Woods, then Chislehurst, along more woodland and river trails and across three railway bridges until we reach Petts Wood, where our walk will end. Walking distance 6 miles. Lunch will be at The Sovereign of The Seas, a Wetherspoons pub, or you can bring our own. From Petts Wood Station you can get trains to Charing Cross,Waterloo East, London Bridge & Victoria stations. Please note: £7 Meetup fee required - please have the right change. In view of some upward slopes and the many steps at the railway bridges, if you have a knee problem or walk slowly, this walk may not be for you. If you need any more information, please ring or text Paul on 07530 675739 – note, this is not a smart phone. [https://www.alittlecup.com/cafe](https://www.alittlecup.com/cafe)

Let's talk & play table tennis in Vicky Park
Let's talk & play table tennis in Vicky Park
Let's start with a quick drink at the People's Park Tavern at the Last table or before last, towards the Pub's exit in Vicky Park, in their garden at the back (top of picture), where we'll have a friendly chat about our favourite possible activities. Then we'll walk 5 mins to an outside cafe in the middle of Victoria Park and we'll enjoy table tennis for as long as we want. Because I will occasionally travel to Brighton I'll need so of you guys to host if I am not able. Here are a few ideas for future meetups: Boules with a proper floor for it, Badmington but will need to share the cost of a £40 net maybe one day, Photography for Fun as I used to teach, Outdoor Picnic and Scabble or other games, Wood fire where permitted and guitar Singing noises, Fast walk, Old Days games we used to love when we were younger like Marbles and lead soldiers in my case, Portrait drawing/doodling, Speed Socializing rather than dating, Snooker wherever possible, Volleyball, Arm Wrestling for the Boys and Girls, Meditation, Outdoor Therapies and plenty more... I will be adding profile questions to our Meetup group so you can also take the time to list some of your ideas. Finally ASAP we will start one or more WhatsApp groups to help the buzz.
Petersfield to Liphook - Hampshire's delights
Petersfield to Liphook - Hampshire's delights
**SUMMARY (all info is approximate!)** **Distance**: 21km (13 miles) **Duration**: 6-7 hours walking **Grade**: Moderate **HIGHLIGHTS** * great views from Shoulder of Mutton Hill * forests coming into bloom * bluebells, spring flowers * forlorn paths * weird and wonderful moreland on Longmore Common * Sussex Border Path & budding rhododendrons, * country pubs for refreshments. We'll start our walk in Petersfield and head north to follow part of the 34 km (21 mile) Hangers Way - a long distance path less travelled within an area of outstanding natural beauty. The countryside around here is unspoilt and forlorn, and we'll meet only a few locals out for a walk with their dogs. In our first hour, we will be rewarded with fantastic views from Shoulder of Mutton Hill as we continue through forested slopes and over open fields towards Liss and then onto Liphook via a nice lunchtime pub stop (for drinks only). After Liss, we will walk down Shipwrights Way to Longmore and Weavers Down, an army managed access land which is eerily remote and wild with a range of different flora, shrubs and trees. We will then walk on the Sussex Border Path and continue to Liphook, where we will reward ourselves with a pub stop. This will be English countryside in its quintessential beauty and at its best – with budding wild flowers and maybe some wild rhododendrons - as well experiencing Longmore Common which feels like walking over Scottish moreland. **COST AND LOGISTICS** **Cost**: £10 **Start**: 8.35 Meet for a group save ticket **Meet:** 8:45 for those who buy their own tickets & walk to train **Finish:** 5.30/6pm for an optional pub visit. **Recommended morning train from London** **Dep**: 09:00 London Waterloo **Arr:** 10.05 Petersfield **Return** **trains:** 18.20, 19.20 **Recommended train ticket** Off-Peak Day Return to Petersfield · **£25.75 group save/ network rail price** Recommended: Buy a yearly Network Railcard for reduced train prices www.network-railcard.co.uk **Meeting Point:** Waterloo Station - In front of Information Desk by the big Pret **REVIEWS** [Trip Advisor](https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attraction_Review-g186338-d19994843-Reviews-AAA_Hiking_Outdoor_Group-London_England.html) \| [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/AAAHikingUK/reviews) \| [MeetUp](https://www.meetup.com/aaa-outdoor-hiking-adventure-travel/feedback-overview/) **PRICE INCLUDES** · Guided hike planned and led by an experienced AAA leader, trained in Outdoor First Aid. **PRICE DOES NOT INCLUDE** · Travel costs · Lunch, drinks or any refreshments · PayPal fees **RECOMMENDED KIT LIST** [(](https://mailchi.mp/aaalondongroup.com/kitlist)complete list[)](https://mailchi.mp/aaalondongroup.com/kitlist) · Suitable hiking shoes or boots · Packed lunch and snacks · Water - 2 litres recommended · Waterproof jacket and trousers (Please no jeans!) · Warm windproof layer e.g. Down/Primaloft/Fleece · Wicking base layer e.g. Polyester/Tencel/Merino **CANCELLING/REFUNDS** If you can no longer join the hike, please message the Host listed on here, and update your RSVP status to 'Not going', to allow others to take your place. Let's Go to a Tea Ceremony - (5 X SPOTS LEFT)
Let's Go to a Tea Ceremony - (5 X SPOTS LEFT)
Join us for a unique, small gathering of just 12 people for a 90 minute experience in a tea room with a tea ceremony - meditative and beautiful ritual inspired by Tao and Zen. Sitting on the cushions on the floor we will slowly drink earthy tea, allowing the ceremonial drink to take us to the dimension of it's profound energy, and through the delicate sensory stimulation, we will try to explore it's ephemeral presence and a perception of ourselves. Brought to Japan by Buddhist monks, the process of preparing, brewing, and serving tea was developed and practiced to perfection. Just like martial arts, the repetition of the ritual is said to **bring mindfulness,** **harmony, and peace**. The tea ceremony is packed with the philosophy of Zen Buddhism. **About the Tea Ceremony** During the tea sessions we sit on the floor and drink exceptional oolong, pu-erh, white or green tea, slowly and mindfully, fully present to the smell, taste, touch, present to all we hear, all we see, feel and sense, and through this presence to the senses we stop the chatter of our busy minds, we stop thinking for a moment about the future or the past, we experience and live the actual moment, we observe and notice the beauty in the simplest things around us, fully satisfying ourselves through just being in the space in stillness, present to 'here' and 'now’. We'd love to have you join us for a tea ceremony. Tea is more than just a beverage for us—it's a practice and a way of life. We're in love with art and practice of tea, and we're excited to share it with everyone. During the tea ceremony, you can simply relax, enjoy the rituals, and savor the wonderful flavors of tea. This practice also helps us slow down and be more aware of each moment, allowing us to connect with ourselves and appreciate the hidden beauty within every cup of tea. LIMITED SPACE TO 12 SOULS ONLY **Kat Bumbul** Kat is an experienced sound healer (15 years), working with gongs, old Himalayan singing bowls, drums and her unique voice, also a ritualistic tea artist, creating tea meditations inspired by Chinese and Japanese ceremonies and Taoist and Zen philosophy. Kat studies and practices Siberian shamanism, Kashmiri shaiva tantra, mahamudra and Dao Yin Shu. Meet fellow early birds. Get a big dose of nature: wild sky, abundant green space, and occasional wildlife. And then warm up in a nearby cafe. Conversations fuelled by early morning light and coffee tend to be good ones. **The plan:** * meet at 7AM at the top of **PRIMROSE HILL** * take in the view for a little while (depending on how cold it is) * walk to ROOTS, a friendly café on Regents Park Road * warm up with coffee (10% off) Become part of our community of regulars, or just drop by for a one off experience. We meet frequently - sometimes weekly, sometimes fortnightly - to create and sustain community. New people are always welcome :-) **[WHATSAPP GROUP](https://chat.whatsapp.com/C2KwIp79riz1A71dNF6pgF)** to keep up to date **[INSTAGRAM](https://www.instagram.com/thesunriseclubetc)** to see what these meetups look like **[SUBSTACK](https://experimentsingroupwisdom.substack.com/)** for the newsletter and occasional extras **[WEBSITE](http://www.alltogether.one/)** for all other groups We will be easy to find because we will be at the top of the hill with a big red flag that says 'THE SUNRISE CLUB' and a sign that says 7AM SUMMIT These are free meetups, but if you’d like to support, please donate here: '[buy me a coffee](https://www.buymeacoffee.com/bonnyastor)' ❤️
