Hong Kong Sacred Spaces is marching down our "best of" list of places to visit with a classic. The Tin Hau Temple in Stanley is a fan favorite, given how picturesque Stanley village is. There are quite a few temples in the area, as the village (known as [Chek Chyúh - 赤柱](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanley,_Hong_Kong) in Cantonese) goes back to the late 17th century. The Tin Hau is the most impressive, founded in 1767 by the notorious naval commander and pirate [Cheung Po Tsai](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheung_Po_Tsai) \- 張保仔\. The temple also houses the pelt of one of the last tigers killed in Hong Kong in 1942. Customer identity resolution becomes increasingly complex as organizations scale across multiple systems, regions, and data formats. Traditional rule-based approaches often fail to keep up with data variability, require constant manual tuning, and struggle with real-time processing needs. This session presents a practical approach to building a scalable identity resolution pipeline using AWS services and modern AI techniques. The architecture combines data ingestion through Amazon S3 and AWS Glue, transformation pipelines using Spark on EMR, and machine learning models deployed via SageMaker for entity matching and standardization. Graph-based relationship modeling is implemented using Amazon Neptune to improve resolution accuracy by incorporating household and shared attribute context. We will walk through how machine learning models can be used for name and address normalization, how intelligent blocking strategies improve matching efficiency, and how feedback loops can be introduced to continuously improve accuracy.
