Trekking the mountain villages of Azerbaijan
**DATES: 28 June - 5th July 2026**
Join us for an unforgettable homestay trekking adventure through the picturesque mountain villages of Azerbaijan. Nestled in the heart of the Caucasus, Azerbaijan is a land of stunning natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. From the towering peaks and verdant valleys to the ancient traditions preserved in its remote communities, Azerbaijan offers a unique and immersive experience for trekkers.
Our journey begins in **Khinalig**, the highest village in the Caucasus, offering breathtaking views of surrounding peaks like Tufandag and GizilGaya. From here, we trek to **Galakhudat**, perched at the base of the steep cliffs of the Gizilgaya plateau, showcasing Azerbaijanās dramatic landscapes. Next, we visit **Griz**, located amidst a canyon and rocky slopes, providing awe-inspiring natural scenery.
Continuing our adventure, we reach **Laza**, a charming village nestled between the Shahdag and GizilGaya plateaus in the Gusarchai river valley. Here, trekkers can enjoy serene, intimate views and the unique culture of the Lezgi ethnic group. We then move to **Kuzun**, set in a lush valley and known for its vibrant culture and beautiful surroundings. Our final destination is **Yergikek**, offering spectacular high-altitude views and a glimpse into the resilient Lezgi community.
Throughout this trek, you'll stay with local families, enjoying traditional meals and learning about their customs. Each village presents a distinct cultural and natural landscape, highlighting the diversity and beauty of Azerbaijanās mountainous regions. Join us for this extraordinary adventure and create lasting memories in the heart of the Caucasus.

[Eric Rico: From Joints to Gestures: Reading Hands in Unity] (In-Person) #13
Let's get together and listen to **[Eric Rico](https://www.linkedin.com/in/ericrico/)** from Unity3D (**From Joints to Gestures: Reading Hands in Unity**).
A hand tracker gives you joints, not a gesture.
This talk shows how you get from raw joints to a "thumbs-up" in Unity: the pipeline that cleans up the data, how a gesture becomes a few 0-to-1 values within tolerance, and why orientation matters as much as finger shape.
Includes a live demo of tuning gesture thresholds.
Eric also runs the **[Columbus Unity User Group](https://www.meetup.com/columbus-unity-user-group/)**. Check it out!
***Bring your laptop and expect to write some (non-AI-generated) code!***
