@ Anna Blume - A cozy book swap and chat meetup!
The "classical" bookswap is simple:
* We meet in a café and put the book(s) we brought down on the tables.
* We go around to browse and discuss the books with one another while sipping coffee or hot chocolate, or eating cake.
* We write our names down on any books we’d like to take home (post-its and pens provided).
* At the end of the evening, negotiate any books that are contended and take a new-to-you book home!
Books/happiness shared are books/happiness multiplied! A Bookswap is 10 times better than a Book Club because you can talk about ALL the books instead of just one!
This is a great way to give your books a new home and make room for new books: that book you feel guilty for not having read even though it's been sitting on your bedside table for the last 5 years, the book you liked but didn't love, the book you loved so much you want everyone to read it, the book you somehow own three copies of, that book you absolutely hated even though everyone else loves it, and so on.
Moreover, you will meet fellow readers, get a new book or two, and several book recommendations. We’ve often had readers experience books they wouldn't normally buy and enjoy it.
GROUP EXPECTATIONS for PLEASANT SWAPPING
* Please bring a book! It's not that you bring one you take one, but do try your best to bring something.
* Books stay on the tables, open for sharing, until you are ready to leave so that everyone can have a look. We are notably not first come first serve. Please wait until you are leaving to bag the book.
* If two or more people want the only copy of a book, negotiate. Maybe one of you reads it first and then gives it to the others. Or perhaps they have found another book instead. Or leave it to fate and toss a coin. The best part: now you have found somebody whose taste you can really admire. In any case, please don't walk away with a book with several names on it without letting the others know.
These negotiations are fun and easy, so don't shy away from a book because there's already a name on it, and feel free to put your name on as many books as you find interesting. It's not that you bring one you take one; you may take as many as you can negotiate.
* Political discussions with consent: make sure the people you are talking to would like to have a political discussion with you.
* Please respect this space as first and foremost a community for connecting readers over their love of books and reading, stories, and narratives of all sorts. Please be respectful of tastes and opinions.
* If something is bothering you, please reach out to the organizers, and we'll do our best to resolve it.
* Lastly, don't expect your book back. It will find a new home. If you love it, let it go.
Major LANGUAGES (and genres) of this meetup: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian; Fiction, Non-Fiction, Serious Reading, Light Fun, “classics", Krimis, Booker winners, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Self-Help and more. You never know who can read what languages, and there's no accounting for taste.
We are a delightful and international group of readers.
We look forward to swapping with you!

***
The Sufi Evening in Berlin invites people to learn more about the Sufi path of Islam and the work of the Sufi Centre Rabbaniyya. The evenings are attended by individuals, educational institutions and groups of communities from other religions. The traditional schedule with Sohbet address and Dhikr meditation is enriched with occasional theme evenings, workshops, musical readings and guest lectures, thus giving the Sufi Evening in Berlin its special charm.
The evenings are led by competent representatives of Sheikh Eşref Efendi, who are also invited to speak at educational and public institutions and participate in the various interfaith and intercultural projects of the city of Berlin and worldwide.
We open our doors at 20:00 and start punctually at 20:15 with the traditional Sufi #Meditation as it has been practiced for centuries. After a short break, we will continue with a #Sohbet, a spiritual conversation, because the Sufi way is conversation with the Sheikh and gathering with community.

**Wir treffen uns am 03.07. um 19:00 im kleinen Café des Paul-Schneider-Hauses für einen gemütlichen Brettspiele-Abend! Getränke können dort gekauft oder selbst mitgebracht werden. Monthly Book Club Meeting - July
Dear Book Enthusiasts,
For our July gathering, we’ll be reading ***Posthumous Memoirs of Brás Cubas*** by the Brazilian writer **Machado de Assis**.
Originally published in 1881, this witty and remarkably modern novel is narrated by Brás Cubas himself — from beyond the grave. Through irony, sharp social observation, and playful philosophical reflections, Machado de Assis creates a narrator who looks back on his life, ambitions, failures, and the society around him with both humor and melancholy. Considered one of the great classics of Brazilian literature, the novel feels surprisingly contemporary in its style and spirit.
**📅 Date & Time: Sunday, 05.07.2026 at 14:00**
**📍 Location: Audrey coffee, Holzendorffstraße 18, 14057 Berlin**
**💬 Fee: As always, a 3 € contribution after** **the meeting helps cover organization costs**
As I mentioned in earlier announcements, due to personal reasons I will not be able to attend a few upcoming meetings. A friend of mine, who also happens to be a great book enthusiast, kindly agreed to moderate and host the gathering during my absence. I truly hope you’ll join me in giving Tereza a very warm welcome and your support.
I’m very much looking forward to hearing all about your discussion and to gathering together again soon.
Warmly,
Sofya

Afterwards, join for lunch if you'd like (optional).
**Drinks & snacks are included** ☕️
* **To reserve your place, a ticket (€9,90/event) or a community pass (only €17,90/MONTH) [from the website](https://pausify.org/) *www.pausify.org* is required**
* **Attendance here doesn’t show all sign-ups from other platforms. We usually have about 50 to 100 people at each event.**
***FAQ: Why does it cost money if I bring my own project?***
Because we rent a beautiful, central space for every event. Ever thought your monthly apartment rent was too high? Well, multiply that – that’s what commercial spaces in big cities like Berlin cost *per hour*.
Of course, if all you want is just some quiet time, your home or a library is perfect. But if you’d like to focus & connect with others in an inspiring space – with drinks, snacks included – that’s what your ticket helps to cover.
See pics from our events below - and on our Instagram: **[@Pausify (Co-Reading Space)](https://www.instagram.com/pausify_org/) ☕️**

Reading in Companionable Silence on tour: Domäne Dahlem (breakfast/farm/museum)
We are coming to Domäne Dahlem, an organic farm based in a manor house in the heart of Berlin Steglitz-Zehlendorf. It includes a blacksmith's workshop and an agricultural history museum, along with many animals and harvest spots. They also serve a breakfast buffet on weekends and holidays, with 100% organic and farm-to-table food.
And... we have a table booked for a limited amount of people at the Landgasthaus 🙌
The plan is to enjoy a top-tier breakfast from 10:30 am, catch up on some reading, and then move along the Domäne, checking the animals, the crops, and the local exhibitions.
Itinerary:
10:30-11 am: We arrive at the Landgasthaus and order from the breakfast buffet. Note that the buffet costs EUR 25 per person, serving all-you-can eat farm-to-table food. Drinks are not included in this price. If you come, make sure to be on time as to avoid missing the buffet window 🙂
11 am - 12 pm: We sit and read for one hour while enjoying our hearty breakfast.
12:00-12:30 pm: We share our reading impressions.
12:30 - \~15 pm: Optional: We walk around the farm, check out the crops and the animals and/or visit the local museum. Museum tickets cost 5 EUR per person, 3 EUR reduced.
Hope to see you there!

Bad Girls Book Club July 2026
**Our July novel is: *Listen for the Lie* by Amy Tintera**
**This month’s novel was named one of the best books of 2024. It’s a domestic thriller with crime, mystery, and murder, told from women’s perspectives. The story includes a detective, an unreliable narrator, and plenty of suspense. The book is 352 pages in print and 9 hours and 18 minutes on audiobook.**
What if you thought you murdered your best friend? And if everyone else thought so too? And what if the truth doesn't matter?
After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.
But now the phenomenally huge hit true crime podcast "Listen for the Lie," and its too-good looking host Ben Owens, have decided to investigate Savvy’s murder for the show’s second season. Lucy is forced to return to the place she vowed never to set foot in again to solve her friend’s murder, even if she is the one that did it.
The truth is out there, if we just listen.

"Tusk Love" by Thea Guanzon
Come join us to discuss our July pick "Tusk Love" by Thea Guanzon!
Book description:
A merchant’s daughter who yearns for adventure gets more than she bargained for when she falls for a broodingly handsome stranger in this saucy romantasy from the New York Times bestselling author of The Hurricane Wars.
“A true delight of a book! Spicy and heartfelt—this one is a winner all around.”—Katee Robert, author of Neon Gods
As the daughter of an ambitious merchant, Guinevere’s path has been predetermined: marry into a noble house of the Dwendalian Empire, raise her family’s station, and live quietly as a lordling’s obedient wife. But Guinevere longs for a life unbounded by expectations, for freedom and passion and adventure.
Those distant dreams become a sudden reality when her caravan is beset by bandits, leaving her guards slain and Guinevere stranded alone on the dangerous Amber Road. Her only chance of survival is to travel alongside Oskar, the aloof half-orc who saved her during the attack.
Unlike Guinevere, Oskar’s path is not so set in stone. With his mother dead and his apprenticeship abandoned, all that’s left is a long, lonely walk to a land he’s never seen to find family he’s never met. The last thing he needs is a spoiled waif like Guinevere slowing him down—even if the spark between them sizzles with promise.
Despite his cold exterior, Oskar is brave and thoughtful and unlike anyone Guinevere has ever met. And while Guinevere may be sheltered, she brings out a softness in him that he has never dared to feel before. As the flames of their passion grow, they realize that soon they’ll need to choose between their expected destinations or their blossoming romance.
Written by New York Times bestselling author Thea Guanzon at the behest of Critical Role’s Jester Lavorre, Tusk Love brings the most romantic story on Exandrian bookshelves to life.
