Hello there!
WHOEVER you are, you’re warmly invited to join us for a full-day creative writing workshop ✍️ with food & drink 🍴☕🍷, literary handouts 📖, and a bit of fun thrown in for good measure 🎉
Together, we’ll be exploring **Catharsis in Writing**: how stories, poems, and personal reflections can help us feel, release, and understand emotion. Over the course of the day, we’ll focus on **three key pathways to catharsis**:
1. **Interpersonal conflict** – tension between characters or people that is resolved, giving emotional release.
2. **Against-all-odds achievement** – following a protagonist (or yourself) through struggle toward success or triumph.
3. **Grief and letting go** – confronting loss and finding a sense of closure or understanding.
Throughout the day, we’ll work with poetry, prose, memoir, hybrid forms, and even playful fragments, reading widely, writing freely, and following curiosity wherever it leads.
By the end of the day, you’ll leave with new writing, ideas sparked, drafts begun, and plenty to keep working with long after the workshop ends.
**What’s the plan? 🗓️**
* **Start the day with teas/coffees ☕** and a gentle warm-up writing session ✍️
* **Break for brunch 🥐** at the Reliance Pub
* **Settle into reading, discussion, and supported exploration**, experimenting with the three catharsis pathways 💬
* **Wind down with a late afternoon/early evening drink 🍺🍷🥤**
* **Finish with a mini pub quiz 🧠🍻** purely for fun
**When:** Saturday 28th March, 11am – 5pm
**What’s included? 🎁**
* A full day of creative writing workshops & exercises ✨
* Tea or coffee to start ☕
* A Reliance Pub brunch platter 🥗
* A late-afternoon/early-evening drink 🍻
* Thoughtful literary handouts 📄
* A little pub quiz 🧠🍻 for fun
**What do you need to bring? 🎒**
* Yourself 🙌
* A pen & pad 🖊️📓 (or a laptop 💻 if you prefer)
**Our style 🌱**
We create a friendly, supportive, and inclusive atmosphere 💜 Everybody is welcome — no experience necessary 🌈
No pressure to share or perform 🙅♂️ You can take part quietly, actively, or anywhere in between.
If you have questions, feel free to text me on 📱 +44 (0) 7534 981 636 and I’ll do my best to help.

Step into the new season with clarity. Create your Action Vision Board and set intentions for a new cycle ahead
Join **BE Ka Art Studio** for *Spring& Board Workshop* — a thoughtfully curated Vision Board experience blending creativity, science and conscious personal growth. An inspiring afternoon designed to nourish mind and soul.
Set within a spacious artist's atelier by the Thames, you’ll be guided through the process of creating your own Action Vision Board.
Led by visual artist and teacher **Elena**, this experience is designed to help you clarify your intentions, anchor them visually, create a vision that inspires your next steps, and translate that vision into aligned action.
As we move through the Lunar New Year and approach the Spring Equinox — a symbolic moment of renewal, balance and growth, celebrated in many cultures across the world and throughout history — this gathering offers a natural opportunity to refocus, reset, and channel your energy with clarity and purpose.
**Schedule**
**Arrival at 14:15**
Please arrive by 14:15 to settle
**14:30 – Creative Guidance, Vision Board Design & Meditation**
Elena will start the session by sharing practical insights based on neuroscience and Gestalt principles. You’ll learn how visual harmony affects attention, emotional engagement, and cognitive focus — ensuring your board is not only aesthetically pleasing but also psychologically supportive. Beauty is not just decorative; it is functional.
Afterwards, a brief guided meditation will create a focused and nurturing space to explore your intentions and direction.
**15:00 – Creation Time**
You’ll craft your Vision Board at your own pace, with individual guidance and support from Elena available throughout if you need it.
You are warmly invited to share reflections with the group if you wish. Light conversation is welcome, though you are equally free to work quietly and focus in your own space.
We’ll close with an optional sharing moment for those who feel comfortable.
**What You’ll Get**
* Introduction to neuroscience and Gestalt principles applied to Vision Board design, and guided meditation and breathwork
* Access to materials, including A4 paper, A3 coloured card paper, scissors, markers, pens, coloured pencils, stickers, glue, tape, Post-it notes, and a selection of magazines and newspapers
**Please Bring**
* BYOB: Please note that no drinks or food will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own drink to this workshop. The studio is perfectly positioned near local gems like The Orchard Café and Layers Bakery if you fancy grabbing a drink and a snack.
* A personal selection of photos, images or meaningful objects for your board. There is no printer on site.
This class is perfect for beginners - no prior experience is needed.
This class is great for individuals and couples alike, as well as for a date idea, a birthday, a gift, or a hen do.
**The venue has step-free access.**
I can’t wait to see you, create together, and share good vibes!
**Trinity Buoy Wharf**
The workshop takes place at *Trinity Buoy Wharf* — a historic 19th-century site on the Thames, once home to the craftspeople who kept Britain's coastal waters safe, now reborn as one of London's most vibrant creative communities, home to artists' studios, a sculpture park, and London's only lighthouse.
Arrive early or linger after — there is always something to discover. At weekends, you can visit the lighthouse, free of charge. Inside it, you can hear Longplayer, a thousand-year musical composition for singing bowls. Step inside, close your eyes, and let the resonance wash over you. An unexpected sound bath, and the perfect way to begin — or continue — the inner journey.

Hampstead Heath Spiritual Gathering & Walk
Our 42nd Spiritual Creatives gathering - in person!
Come and join us for a lovely walk and talk around Hampstead Heath.
We are meeting just outside Hampstead Heath station (London Overground train) at 11.00 on Sunday the 29th of March.
Please note: This is NOT Hampstead Station on the Northern Line! It is the Hampstead HEATH station. The Google link is here:
[https://goo.gl/maps/AJCNoxkKNj6K9Gp77](https://goo.gl/maps/AJCNoxkKNj6K9Gp77)
We will wait for people to arrive until 11.15am and then we will begin walking. If you arrive later, you will only be able to catch up with us at Kenwood House approximately between 12 and 12.30pm. You should be able to find us sitting around as a group having a drink. If the weather permits, you'll find us outside the main café, towards the back. Look for the guy with the multicoloured scarf... that's me!
After a short break of 20-30 minutes, we then walk back through the Heath, taking the long way round to Parliament Hill, and conclude our stroll back to Hampstead Heath overground station around 2 to 2.30pm.
(Please note that you may become so involved in your conversations that you end up losing sight of the main group! Unfortunately, there is no way for you to catch up with us once we have become separated (and we do NOT check our phones for texts or messages during our walk) so please be mindful and conscious to stay with the main group if you want to keep up. Also please bear in mind that Hampstead Heath can be muddy sometimes, so please wear the appropriate shoes).
After returning to Hampstead Heath Overground station, many of our (usually hungry) members like to continue the camaraderie over lunch at one of the local cafés or restaurants. As our group has grown over the years, these gatherings can be quite large, so we usually have to split into smaller parties and explore different venues. Some of our favourite spots are Dominique’s Café (dominiquescafe.co.uk) and Silverberries (silverberry.net), both of which offer a welcoming atmosphere and delicious food. It’s a great way to wind down the walk and continue our conversations.
Spiritual Creatives is a warm-hearted and popular meetup group, as you can see from our ratings and comments!
We hope to meet you then! :-)
Best wishes
Cliff
P.S. we ask for a small £3 donation to help cover our Meetup.com membership, but please bear in mind that we are not able to offer refunds if a place is booked but not used.

Novice | 11-2pm Mar 29, 9M Studios
**Update: full for drums, piano, 1 of 2 spots taken for bass and guitar, 1 of 3 spots taken for lead instruments (sax, trumpet, violin, flute)**
**Please note 11am start for this session at 9M studios.**
*Please only sign up if your instrument (or vocals) is not indicated above as full for this session.*
*\*\* The 9M Studios sessions are now 3 hours long. The group is encouraged to use the last hour to call additional songs that are not on the repertoire list - similar to an open jam, or to experiment with arrangements such as intros and endings for the original repertoire. \*\**
full list of scheduled sessions: https://www.meetup.com/Practice-Jazz-Jam-Sessions/events/
**What is it**
The novice rehearsal sessions provide an opportunity for people who are relatively new to jazz, to play in a friendly, low-pressure environment. With a short set list that attendees can prepare in advance, it becomes a little less daunting to play and get the most out of practising in a group.
See below for this week's setlist. Please sign up before attending.
already full for your instrument? Please check back on Wednesday mornings, when new sessions go live. If you keep not being able to get a spot, please message the organiser (Xie).
Location: 9M Studios, SE17 1DX
**Who's it for**
anyone who has practised following the forms (chord progressions) of jazz tunes - maybe on their own at home - and would like to build up playing experience, expand repertoire and practice performing with other musicians.
There are various introductions on how jazz jams work - see e.g.
https://jazznightschool.org/pages/jam-session-basics
You don't need to get all these details right for these novice practice sessions. The set list format should offer opportunities for those at different levels of developing their playing.
While at the beginning one might struggle to follow/comp the chords or play through the melody, it gets easier over time and one can start to develop approaches to improvisation, harmonise lead lines, add intros/endings, work on communication between band members, and even listen to recordings together and pick up specific arrangements.
Bass players are expected to be able to play a walking bass line on swing tunes, and simple bossa lines for bossa novas.
Playing the melody, or "head" - the responbility is shared between horns players (e.g. sax, trumpet, violin), guitar and piano. Feel free to discuss among the group before each song - different parts of the head or the starting / ending heads can be played by different players. Some melodies will better suit several voices at the same time, whereas others are sensitive to variations in how they are played and may prefer a single instrument at a time.
**What it's like**
A relaxed and welcoming atmosphere - please put aside any worries of making mistakes if you’re thinking of joining us for the first time. To ensure the group is accessible for those at different levels, I ask that each novice session should work on only the below four songs of the set list, unless each and every attendee feels they prefer to move on.
Each novice session is limited to up to: 1 drummer, 2 bass, 2 keys, 2 guitar, 3/4 lead instruments. Always use the top of the description to see if there is an available slot for your instrument - please do not try to work this out yourself by looking at the other attendees' instruments.
**Tunes this week (Sun Mar 29)**
* Take the A train in C (warm up)
(Vache, Allen)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8JJv13K3WU

* Softly as in a morning sunrise in Cm

Everyone is encouraged to listen to a variety of recordings for each song, but please ensure you are familiar with the recording provided as a primary reference. (Note the recordings provide stylistic reference, but may not be in the key listed, with the latter based on common real books)
**Tune preview - next novice session (Sat Apr 4)**
* Bags' Groove in F (warm up)
(Emmet Cohen)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uICkruoxRv0
* Poinciana in D
(Scott Hamilton) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_h3RWVeTlGM
* Summertime in Am
(Herbie Hancock)
(Chet Baker) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Y3FfjESXpU
* Have you Met Miss Jones? in F
(Stan Getz) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4aFcaAwOPU
**Preparing for the session**
The chordal form of each song follow the iReal Pro app as a common reference, or you can use sheet music from Real Books.
Resource for sheet music:
https://www.seventhstring.com/fbindex.html
http://therealbook.info/
Try to immerse yourself in the songs by listening to recordings by different artists on youtube, spotify etc.
Learn the head (main melody) of the song if you can. Don't hesitate to let the band know you can play it so you can start things off
**Playing well together**
The rehearsal groups are often quite large for a jazz ensemble setting. Please follow the below arrangements, which are designed to help the group be mindful of each other's volumes, and to build good habits for playing as a group
* Every tune should be played at least twice. Swap the bass, piano and guitar players between the two renditions (if there are two attending)
* Only one guitarist should comp - i.e. play chords - for each rendition (both guitarists can solo, and comp without amplification)
* After each rendition of the warm up tune, the whole group should take a moment together and help each other to check on volumes, including:
\*\* Can everyone hear themselves?
\*\* Are the drums too loud?
\*\* Can everyone hear the bass?
\*\* Is the guitar comping too loud?
\*\* Is the piano loud enough? (staff at the office can turn this up)
\*\* Feel free to revisit volumes after subsequent songs
* For any song, if at least two people in the group feel it would be better, the guitar and piano should share the choruses for comping (instead of comping together) - e.g. guitar comps the first time through the head, then piano, then guitar, etc.
**Equipment**
there is a piano, drum kit (no cymbals or high hat clutch), bass and guitar amps, and microphones. Limited number of music stands. Drummers: please bring cymbals (none available for rental) and hi hat clutch
**Percussion**
Percussionists are welcome to join with their instruments, alongside the drummer. Feel free to sign up to any session, even one that says "full for all instruments" at the top, unless it explicitly mentions "full for percussion".
**Vocalists**
singers very welcome though usually I suggest you come to the intermediate sessions where you can pick your own song and key (as chances are many of the above are not in the right key for your range)
**Cancellation policy**
Please try to make it to any session you sign up to, as the jams are organised around a particular mix of instruments. However, if things do come up and you can no longer make a session, please send a message to the organiser, Xie, as soon as possible.
Places are non-refundable if your plans change, but if you provide over 1 week notice it may be possible to carry over the fee for a future session.

A heart-warming celebration of love, creativity and connection.
Join visual artist and teacher Elena in her atelier by the Thames for an afternoon of mindful making. Whether you're a seasoned creative or have never picked up a pencil for art, this workshop is designed to welcome you exactly as you are.
**What to expect**
You'll begin with a short introduction to the art of mandalas — their origins, forms and meanings — before moving into a guided meditation. This is a dedicated moment to open your heart, to recognise yourself as both a source of love and a receiver of it, and to tune into the themes of love and connection that run through the whole session before you start creating.
From there, you'll work on your own mandala using card paper with a lightly traced grid as your foundation. Using a blend of intuitive doodles and meaningful words — or whichever feels right to you — you'll create something entirely your own.
The atmosphere is relaxed and supportive. Light conversation is welcome, though you're equally free to work quietly in your own world. Towards the close of the session, there will be an optional moment to share reflections with the group.
**You will leave with**
\- Your unique\, handmade mandala to keep
\- A fresh sense of calm and presence
\- A deeper connection to yourself — and perhaps to others
**What's included**
\- All materials are provided: paper\, pencils and markers\.
**Please Bring**
BYOB: Please note that no drinks or food will be provided. Please bring your own drink to enjoy as you create. The studio is conveniently located near The Orchard Café and Layers Bakery, should you wish to pick something up beforehand.
**The venue has step-free access.**

I Love Music @ Musical Pub Crawl With Vinyl DJ💿
Exploring the musical archives with captivation at both a very young age and later as music radio presentator, club DJ & musicologist - I discovered only snippets of an estimated 97 million songs even though I went all the way back to the 17th century!
If you love music, then you'll know it's not just entertainment but a spritual soulful experiene ("I hear my compositions as a single point of light, all I do is hold that point of light in my mind whilst I write it down" Wolfgang Mozart)
So let's immense ourselves in our passion by enjoying music, singing, dancing with drinks in hand whilst broadening our music knowledge and exposure by discovering new material, artists and even genres at fun musically themed night out for passionate music lovers in the UK home of rock n roll - Camden of course!
Contemporary or old - you must be passionate about music which means you will be prepared to talk about your favourite song(s) and or artist(s), influences and underlying reasons at ease. What is it that makes them stand out and unique? Does the song have personal relevance to you? Are the lyrics poetic or a philosophical masterpiece like in some old hip-hop or is it about the sound of the vocals or hypnotic melodies? Did the song (or artist) play a pivotal role in shaping political change & influence in society (yes some musicians have even died for their artform) or the evolution of new music genres, sub cultures and underground music movements today? Was Lennon & McCartney the greatest ever singer song writer combo or have you heard better? Who are the best all time music producers & song writers - Max Martin, Billy Joel, George Martin, Quincy Jones, Bernie Taupin, Dr Dre, Carole King? Did PWL records destroy the British music scene or contribute to it?
We can also touch on influential music producers, labels, DJs and radio stations as well. Discussion on all elements of musicology and enablers is up for grabs.
If you can - come prepared with links to samples (feel free to post youtube and other links in the comments section below) to demonstrate or be willing to sing/rap some lyrics so we can get an idea. Funky dance moves optional.
=========RENDEZVOUS POINT =================
We will meet inside Amy Winehouse's local - the Hawley Arms. I'll be wearing Starwars lanyard and will share my number an hour before the event in the comments in case of issues finding us. We will spend about an average of 90 mins per bar.

Whether you're a painter, sculptor, photographer, or mixed media artist, this group is the perfect place to connect with like-minded individuals, have a space to work on your craft, and showcase your work. Let's inspire and support each other on our artistic journeys! Whether you're a novice or a seasoned artist, all skill levels are welcome. Join us and unleash your creativity!
This month we will be discussing **Frank Santoro**, an American cartoonist, painter, and comics critic known for his expressive lines, experimental page layouts, and vibrant use of color. His graphic novels—including *Storeyville*, *Pompeii*, and *Pittsburgh*—blend personal storytelling with innovative visual structure, often exploring memory, place, and relationships. In addition to his comics, Santoro has been an influential voice in comics education and criticism, co-founding the magazine *ComicsComics* and creating the **Santoro Correspondence Course for Comic Book Makers**, which has helped train and inspire a new generation of cartoonists.
Afterwards, we will have time to work on our individual art projects, hang out, and if anyone is interested in feedback on their work, there will be time for that as well.
Arthouse Friday: THE DRAMA at the Drexel Theatre!
Join us as we get together for an Arthouse Movie Friday event to see the A24 dark comedy /romance / psychological-thriller, THE DRAMA! The film stars Zendaya and Robert Pattinson as a happily engaged couple whose relationship is challenged when one discovers unsettling truths about the other. Here are details, a trailer and our plan for this event:
DESCRIPTION: The film follows a happily engaged couple whose relationship is put to the test when an unexpected turn sends their wedding week off the rails. The film comes from A24, is written/directed by Kristoffer Borgli stars Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Mamoudou Athie, Alana Haim, Hailey Gates and Zoë Winters.
QUICK WORD OF WARNING: The film hasn’t screened for critics yet and most of the details are being kept tightly under wraps. But, early buzz (possibly promotional) says the film is a brilliant psychological thriller/romance but also provocative, twisty and some contains occasional uncomfortable viewing! I love the cast and trailer, so look forward to seeing for ourselves!
ZENDAYA-PATTINSON TRIFECTA CHALLENGE: Robert Pattinson and Zendaya will star in THREE movies together this year, including THE DRAMA, Christopher Nolan’s THE ODYSSEY this Summer and Denis Villeneuve’s DUNE: PART THREE at Christmas!
TRAILER: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zmKcUa4Xxk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zmKcUa4Xxk)
PLAN: We’ll plan for 7pm-ish showing and will meet in the lobby area about 30 minutes before showtime! Advance ticket purchase not required for this theater but early arrival is advised. Possibly post-movie get-together at the nearby Rusty Bucket! Complete details will be confirmed/announced as the date gets closer.
Take care and look forward to seeing you there, Dan
