Rainbow Body Yoga – Level 1 Online Course We warmly invite you to join the Rainbow Body Yoga Level 1 Course, a transformative practice from the Open Heart tradition. The course is taught by Amrita Rani, an ordained sangha member and trained Open Heart instructor. You are welcome to join either in person in Zgornje Gorje, Slovenia, or online via Zoom. Rainbow Body Yoga is a profound tantric non-meditation practice designed to deconstruct the selfing mechanism of the mind. Through the Guru mantras of Padmasambhava and Yeshe Tsogyal, subtle energy practices, and dynamic concentration, we cut through self-based energies that block the direct recognition of our natural state. Although regarded within the tradition as a post-awakening purification practice, you do not need to be awakened to begin. The practice itself deepens recognition of the selfless state, supporting further awakenings and the maturation of clarity. Both those who have experienced awakening shifts and those who feel called to deepen their spiritual path are warmly welcome. This carefully structured sequence works directly with the causal body, where self-based energies are stored. We examine the klesha of ignorance (avidya), the root of existential suffering. With the Guru’s blessings, RBY techniques, and vipashyana (direct seeing), even the subtlest layers of selfing can be cut through. As the practice deepens, you become familiar with the clarity and aliveness of your enlightened mind. Eventually, you recognize that wakeful awareness has always been present, even within negative thoughts and emotions. As mental clutter dissolves into the natural state, increased clarity brings deep healing. Self-sabotaging patterns can be liberated, and the energy once consumed by worry and rumination becomes available to you. Practiced consistently, Rainbow Body Yoga reveals the natural luminosity of selfless awareness and leads toward the realization of emptiness, not as a concept, but as a living experience. These precious practices were given to Amrita Baba by Padmasambhava through visionary transmission, offering a direct path beyond self-based suffering. Level 1 provides a grounded and systematic introduction, enabling you to continue confidently with your home practice. At the heart of Open Heart teachings is direct recognition. A central and deeply transformative practice in Open Heart is guru yoga. Through guru yoga, the practitioner directly connects with awakened awareness through devotion, transmission, and experiential recognition. Members of the public are invited to view the wonders of the universe through the telescopes of NOVAC volunteers at the Smithsonian's Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA. You do not need to be a member of the club or own any astronomical equipment to attend. Telescopes will be provided by the Smithsonian and pre-approved members of the NOVAC. No other personal telescopes are permitted at the event. The event will take place on the bus parking lot of the museum. **Please park your vehicle at the south end of the main visitors lot and follow signs and red lights to the observing site. As a reminder, parking during the event is free.** Have a cosmic question? One of NOVAC's astronomers or museum staff will be happy to help you. As the sky gets dark, be prepared to enjoy the wonders of the night sky! Don't forget to dress warmly. Please check the weather forecast. For lighting, cover a flashlight in red cellophane (the darker the better). Bring along water to keep hydrated. Note: This outdoor event is weather-dependent and may be cancelled because of significant cloud cover or precipitation.

**Our Meetup is off to another hiking adventure! Mt Kilimanjaro, as the tallest mountain in Africa, is included in the 7 Summits of the world.** **It is a bucket-list item for all hard-core hikers and mountain lovers.** We did this trek with Meetup in the summer of 2024 and it was a true experience of a lifetime (see photos below) Let's get to some numbers. It is 5,895m/19,340ft BUT . . . our starting elevation for the trek is 3795m/12541ft As such elevation gain is 2100m/6799ft To compare Everest Base Camp trek, is about 2754m/9035ft elevation change. And Mt Whitney is about 1828m/6000ft elevation change. The key to being able to succeed in this endeavor lays in the route and the support system. We are taking the Lemosho Route via the Northern Circuit. The Northern Circuit route is the longest and newest of the seven established Kilimanjaro routes. It's one of the best routes because it has the best acclimatization profile. This results in one of the highest summit success rates. Add to that stunning views, and comparatively relaxed pace. It is also much less crowded than the other Kilimanjaro routes. As far as our support system: We will be accompanied by experienced guides, porters and cooks. They are certified, ensuring our safety and comfort. Porters will carry our gear. We will have a high ratio of guides to hikers. Our guides will go our pace and support each and everyone of us, regardless of fitness level and pace. In other words...you go your own speed and we all get there safe. More about our trek/trip. As with all our international trips, we picked the best season/time of year to go for weather and wildlife. Lemosho and Northern Circuit is a scenically spectacular and varied route. At the lower elevations it has an abundance of wildlife such as elephant, buffalo, eland and lion which come over to forage during dry season. **Each of our trips is personally crafted to offer the best places and best use of time.** *But I don't have the needed gear?!* You don't need much more than the standard trekker's equipment. Sky Meadows and NOVAC invite you to enjoy an evening under the stars. Our evenings begin with a half-hour children's "Junior Astronomer" program, followed by a discussion about the importance of dark skies and light conservation. Then join NASA Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) Ambassadors for a presentation on the latest news in astronomy. Visitors should bring their own lawn chairs and/or blankets. Next, get oriented to the celestial skies with a brief sky tour. Finish the evening by relaxing and enjoying the beautiful night sky. Join Northern Virginia Astronomy Club members in viewing the night sky. Feel free to bring your telescope or binoculars for your own exploration. The event's programs will take place rain or shine. Do you wish you could get some ideas from more experienced presenters? Are you wanting to work on a presentation more than once, getting feedback as you develop it? Us, too! Winner's Circle is a more advanced Toastmaster club to meet the needs of the more advanced members in our area. If you want to fast-track your skill level, this might be the right club for you! (You don't need any particular designation to be in this club!) We meet at 6:30 for social time and dinner (yes, we bring potluck!) then start the actual meeting at 7:00.
