[in-person] Meditation - Mississauga
[in-person] Meditation - Mississauga
**What we are About:** *If Sufism is defined as mystical or the way of the mystic, then its message addresses all peoples, not just the followers of one religion.* If you feel drawn toward deeper connection—within yourself, in your relationships, or along your spiritual path. The ‘School of Sufi Teaching’ extends a warm welcome with humility, and love to all seekers of truth who feel drawn toward inner awakening and the timeless wisdom of the Sufi tradition. Our introductory gatherings offer an opportunity to experience the gentle blessings of traditional, time‑honored meditation practices passed down through an unbroken lineage. Some Sufis practice whirling, while others chant loud recitation (Zikr). At Sufi School we follow the classical practice of silent, contemplative meditation. Seated together as a group, we direct our hearts toward the Holy Essence, cultivating an atmosphere of stillness, inward reflection, and subtle spiritual presence. **Event details** (bi-weekly sessions): 7:00 - 7.15 pm Introduction for beginners 7:15 - 7:45 pm ‘Silent Meditation’ (Muraqabah) 7:45 - 8:10 pm Q&A **Location:** Mississauga Valley Community Centre (Frank Bean Lounge). Mob Programming at Mofer Coffee
Mob Programming at Mofer Coffee
Let’s do some coding together at a cafe! No more working alone in the weekend. Here, we write code together. And I mean together together. Not occupying-the-same-space-but-separate together. Here’s how it works: Jennifer brings her mobile app project, tells everyone that it is like Pinterest for recipes and she’d like to work on the nav bar. Paul and Chloe think Jennifer's project is fascinating, and they join the group. They gather around Jennifer’s laptop and work on the nav bar for 2 hours. Jennifer is the one typing out the code while Paul and Chloe research, brainstorm, and offer suggestions. If you’re feeling stuck on your own project or need a motivation boost, bring it to mob programming! Want to learn by watching how others code and solve problems? Join someone else’s project at this event! Oh and we love your half-done projects that you are a bit embarrassed to share. Absolutely bring those to the event! **Discord**: We use Discord to share screen & code snippets during the event. Also feel free to share your projects here before the event! https://discord.gg/yvAGbh4PpD **Event policy**: * We have 0 tolerance for harassment. * We don’t allow the projects that are not meant to be shared in public such as school assignments, interview tasks, or trade secrets. * The goal is to write code. We discourage you from pitching business ideas here, doing code reviews, or spending the whole event on planning what to do. * Please buy a drink, and tip the barista well.

AI vs. Human: Who Designs Better Primers? In Person computer lab
Join us this Wednesday at **DIYBio.to** for a hands‑on trial to compare primer design—between cutting‑edge AI algorithms with traditional human expertise. We will also tour our lab - it's under new construction though! And go over some of the fluorescent tools that we have for cloning. **What to expect:** * **Agenda:** 1. Quick intro to primer design fundamentals. 2. Live demo of an AI‑driven primer design tool (e.g., Primer‑AI, DeepPrimer, BiOMNI). 3. Human‑led design session using classic software (Primer‑3, Geneious). 4. Side‑by‑side performance comparison (specificity, speed, cost). Then, we will elect to test some primers on DNA in about two weeks. 5. Open Q&A and brainstorming future collaborations. * **What to bring:** Laptop (optional), curiosity, and any DNA targets you’d like to test. * **Finding us:** Hacklab.to, ground floor lab space Our community biology projects also continue in the wet lab, and we’ll be gathering data from today’s primer‑design showdown to feed into upcoming courses.
