Das Ende der Code-Ära: Domain Modeling & Harness Engineering
**Um was geht es dieses mal?**
**Das Ende der Code-Ära: Warum Domain Modeling & Harness Engineering die wichtigsten Skills 2026 sind. - Benjamin Font Pera (codecentric)**
From Vibe Coding to Scalable, Reviewable and Performant Engineering
We are back with two great speakers!
💡 First on stage is **Bart Waardenburg**, the creator of the tool **Fallow.** His tool gained significant traction after it was discussed on the web development podcast Syntax.
**Vibe Coding Doesn't Scale: Deterministic Tooling for Agentic Engineering**
*AI Slop Is a Tooling Problem*
Most AI coding fails in the same way. The model writes plausible code, but it has no deterministic way to check whether the change made the codebase better or worse. We compensate with prompts like "make no mistakes", "follow best practices", or "act like a senior engineer".
In his talk, Bart shows where the line runs between AI slop and real agentic engineering. Using Fallow as the case study, he walks through how an agent calls deterministic codebase-quality checks through CLI, MCP, and agent hooks, so engineering standards live in the loop itself instead of in wishful prompts. The agent generates code, inspects the repository, detects dead code, duplication, complexity hotspots, and boundary violations, optionally combines that with runtime evidence, and uses those signals to refactor or self-correct before a human reviews the diff.
The core idea is simple. The biggest productivity gains do not come from telling the model to be smarter. They come from giving it a better harness. For frontend teams, that is the difference between vibe coding and scalable, reviewable engineering.
💡 After the break, we welcome **Sander van Surksum** on stage. Sander is a web performance specialist who works with global brands to build fast, stable and world-class digital experiences.
**Vibe coding made the web sick. Now it can fix it.**
Since ChatGPT went live in November 2022, the median mobile web page has been getting heavier three times as fast as before. AI didn't invent bloated front-end code; it learned from a "lost decade" of bad patterns and industrialized them.
Sander follows the evidence: the public HTTPArchive data that marks the inflection point, and Alex Russell's *Performance Inequality Gap*, which asks the question most teams never do — **whose device are we actually testing on**? Spoiler: the bill isn't paid by the developer on a MacBook Pro and fibre. It's paid by the user on a €300 Android, 9 Mbps. The same code, two completely different realities.
Today's median page is already bigger than the entire game DOOM.
The talk ends with good news. The same AI that made the mess can help clean it up, once you give it eyes. We'll look at the 2025–2026 tooling (Chrome DevTools MCP, Google's Modern Web Guidance) that finally lets AI agents measure real performance and ship lighter code, and close on the one question every engineer should answer before their next prompt: **who are you building for**?
**📍 Location**
We welcome you to our office in Utrecht: Studio N in the Werkspoorkathedraal. The address is Tractieweg 41. We have plenty of free parking space available. We will have dinner ready for you at 18.00!

The Dolly Sods Wilderness is a U.S. Wilderness Area in the Allegheny Mountains of eastern West Virginia and is part of the Monongahela National Forest (MNF) and one of the most desirable trekking areas in the US.
Dolly Sods is a rocky, high-altitude plateau with sweeping vistas and flora and fauna normally found much further north in Canada. A backpacking trip in this area will expose you to a very diverse and unique landscape with sphagnum bogs, grassy meadows lined by spruce trees, wind-carved boulders, and beautiful mountain vistas.
Note - this area can have very unpredictable weather. I've had everything from sunshine, to heavy rain, to even snow and hail as late as May. Pack accordingly.
**Trail Details:**
We will meet at The Vienna Metro station on Saturday morning at 8am and drive to the Red Creek Trailhead at the southern end of the Dolly Sods wilderness. The drive is about 3 hours - I will drive and am happy to have up to 3 others carpool with me.
When we arrive at the trailhead, we will hike about 6.3 miles to our campsite, stopping once to check out the the iconic Lion's Head on Breathed Mountain (pictured in the post). Should be an early day, so feel free to bring cards, adult beverages, or other items to pass the time. The second day, we will explore the rest of the park, which includes the rugged Dunkenbarger trail. The second day is about 9.4 miles back to the car. There are a ton of stream crossings on this trip - so expect to get wet and pack accordingly.

**Tech Talk: Secure Developer Environments in the Age of AI Agents**
**Speaker:** Patrick Brown (Coder)
**Abstract:** Federal engineering teams are under pressure to ship faster while meeting some of the most demanding security and compliance requirements in the world. In this talk, Patrick Brown of Coder explores how cloud development environments (CDEs) give agencies a foundation to accelerate software delivery without sacrificing control — and why that foundation matters even more as AI-powered coding agents enter the workflow. He'll cover how CDEs keep source code off endpoints, enforce zero-trust access patterns, and provide the consistent, ephemeral infrastructure that both human developers and AI agents need to operate safely at scale.
**Speakers:**
Stay tuned as we are updating speakers and schedules.
If you have a keen interest in speaking to our community, we invite you to submit topics for consideration: [Submit Topics](https://forms.gle/JkMt91CZRtoJBSFUA)

**Trail Details:**
We will meet at The Vienna Metro station on Friday morning at 8am and drive to the Mt Rogers Trailhead (off Rt 603). This parking lot is **NOT** the paid lot near Masie Gap, and so can fill up. I'd like to try to get there as early as possible.
The drive is about 5 hours. I will drive and am happy to have others carpool with me - but please note, I will have my small black labrador in the back seat.
**Day 1**
After we park, we will hike about 7 miles to our campsite, diverting once to summit Mt Rogers. There arent any views here, but it's worth the .3 miles to say you've been to the highest point in VA! We will camp on the first night at the scenic tent sites near the Thomas Knob Shelter on the AT. There is water at this site and we may see wild ponies if we're lucky.
**Day 2**
The second day is about 10.7 miles, which includes spectacular views, unique rock formations and wide open grassy meadows. We will camp near the Old Orchard Shelter. There is a spring with water at this site as well.
**Day 3**
The third day will be a short 3.5 mile hike from camp back to the cars. Getting to the cars early will mean that we should get back to DC around 4-5pm. On the drive home, I plan to stop at Martin's in downtown Roanoke (413 1st St SW, Roanoke, VA 24011).

NOVA Code & Coffee [165] - At FCED Venue
NOVA Code and Coffee is an inclusive, informal, co-working session. People of all skill levels are invited. The concept is simple, bring a laptop and ideas, we'll provide the coffee and donuts! Here's how it works:
1. At 10:15 everyone introduces themselves and briefly describes what brought them to Code & Coffee today (project, homework, networking, etc)
2. For the rest of the day, folks work in the communal space on their projects providing one another help and conversation as needed. Oh and they usually drink coffee and tea too!
That's it! Hope to see you there!

Our hosts are the Fairfax City Economic Development

Conference Room A- Large, Floor 1
This is a new venue for us, so give us some time to get more details about it.
Driving is the best option. There is plenty of free on-site parking. Otherwise, we are a 22 minute bus from the Vienna Metro Station. Bicycling from Vienna is possible but difficult, though once you are here, there's a bike rack in the garage behind the building, and there's also a Capital Bikeshare dock 15 min walk away.
