Wilsons Promontory (4 spots - road trip)
[Instagram: Road Trips by The Dancing Voyager: Ron Singh](https://www.instagram.com/the_dancing_voyager_ron_trips)
Good weather! Spontaneous day trip to Wilsons Promontory! Very short notice! These are always fun!
Over 60 road trips done in 4 years! I run 3 Meetup groups (shown on my profile).
This road trip is for people new to Australia who have not been to this location (International Students, Working Holiday Makers and tourists)! No evidence is required. I will trust you!
**Details given below in sections: (1) Questions / (2) Road trip itinerary / (3) Payment / (4) Responsibility / (5) Breaks / (6) Weather / (7) Phone charging / (8) Contact**
**\-\-\- \(1\) QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS \-\-\-**
**Your questions for me:** Why is the total fee so low at $20, covering a new, large rental (SUV), fuel and driver, on something that seems really high quality and well planned, like a private tour company? Sounds too good to be true or that there is a catch. Is this genuine?
**My answers to you:** Because this project is my community service to give back. I explain this further below. The low fee is just a formality to confirm your place, so that I know you are serious on attending.
This is genuine. Over 60 road trips done in 4 years! I have created precious memories for many people new to Australia. Photos on Instagram link further above.
**\-\-\- \(2\) ROAD TRIP SUMMARY AND ITINERARY \-\-\-**
Day trip to Wilsons Promontory. This is such a timeless place. The hills and the sea combine to make you reflect about life!
**Itinerary: Leongatha - few coastal lookouts - Agnes Falls - enter Wilsons Prom - various scenic stops - Norman Beach - exit Wilsons Prom - scenic lookout - Leongatha (you can swim at the beach or just walk/relax)**
**Meeting point: Fed Square, 9:15 am**. Back there by **8:45 pm**. Meet by the steps (main entrance, opposite the Swanston Street tram stop).
**\-\-\- \(3\) PAYMENT \-\-\-**
**Total fee: $20 in total (no other costs). This covers a new, large rental (SUV), fuel and driver.**
**Eventbrite link for payment:** [https://wilsonsprom-road-trip.eventbrite.com.au](https://wilsonsprom-road-trip.eventbrite.com.au/)
**Cancellations:** If I cancel the road trip for any unforeseen issues, a full refund will be given. If you cancel, there is no refund.
**Why is the fee so low?**
The low fee is just a formality. It might sound too good to be true or that there is a catch. There is no catch. I am simply someone who has been giving back for many years. I playfully call this project a “Melbourne travel secret”!
There are people in this world who want to genuinely give back without any expectations because they are truly fulfilled and grateful for what they have. I am one of those people. This is my community service. I am not doing this for money and I never have. Money cannot buy passion.
The nature of majestic Australia helped me find peace and passion and I want to give back by sharing that inspiring nature with people new to this country. If they are also inspired by that nature, then that is my reward. There is no hidden agenda in doing this project.
The reason I am being quite upfront is because in this day and age, there is always a catch when people do something like this. There is none with me and I am not selling or promoting anything. I do not need anything because I have peace, passion and fulfilment. I have everything. I am truly humbled and grateful.

**\-\-\- \(4\) RESPONSIBILITY\, LIABILITY\, SAFETY \-\-\-**
As your driver, I am responsible and liable for your safety while we are in the vehicle. Passengers are insured as per the Australian law.
For times we are outside the vehicle, we then become responsible for our own liability and safety, just like every other capable adult in society.
**\-\-\- \(5\) BREAKS/MEALS \-\-\-**
There will be many breaks for sightseeing/walks. I will stop at places where food/snacks will be sold but you are welcome to bring your own as well. There will be a lunch break at either a cafe or takeaway shop.
**\-\-\- \(6\) WEATHER AND WHAT TO WEAR \-\-\-**
I plan events when weather looks good but please also see itinerary for location details and check the forecast to dress accordingly. My advice is to always be prepared! Recommend to have something to cover you if rain suddenly appears or if winds suddenly get cool. Also recommend to carry sunscreen and a hat.
Please also wear good, comfortable shoes that can provide protection from water (in case there are muddy areas). You can bring many things, as the vehicle will have a lot of storage space.
My road trips do not have a lot of long walks. The focus is on sightseeing, relaxing and appreciating the beauty of nature.
**\-\-\- \(7\) PHONE CHARGING \-\-\-**
Please charge your phone before joining. In the past, people have taken lots of videos and photos and used up their batteries! You can bring your charging cable if you want. The vehicle will have various charging ports.
**\-\-\- \(8\) CONTACT \-\-\-**
If you need to contact me, please reach out through Meetup, Eventbrite or Instagram. If you wanted my mobile number, please let me know.
Mt Baw Baw Plateau/Walhalla camping weekend
Join us on a weekend of hiking and camping in Gippsland.
We will be camping on the Friday and Saturday night at **Seninis Campground, Moondarra State Forest.** This campground sits on a beautiful bend in the Tyers River, where you can float along in an inner tube. It has a toilet but no showers. Fires are allowed except during total fire bans.
**Directions to the campground:**
From Melbourne, take the Monash Freeway (M1) east toward Gippsland. Exit toward Moe/Trafalgar and follow Moe–Erica Road (C105) through Moe, past Trafalgar, and on toward Rawson. Moe-Erica Road becomes Moe-Rawson Road as you come to the turnoff for Seninis Track. Turn left onto [Seninis Track Entry](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Senisis+Track+Entry/@-38.0204915,146.3145684,14z/data=!4m15!1m8!3m7!1s0x6b2903b459c70b27:0xbf3c9a2903f4f5e0!2sSeninis+Track,+Moondarra+VIC+3825!3b1!8m2!3d-38.0208972!4d146.3192905!16s%2Fg%2F1tcvpfdd!3m5!1s0x6b2903005f4b4223:0x50d92ef4b999a926!8m2!3d-38.0258359!4d146.3518227!16s%2Fg%2F11yddlptt0?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI2MDEwNy4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D) (as pinned) and follow the unsealed road 1.5km to the campground by the Tyers River. If in a 2WD, drive at walking pace.
**Note:** The pin marks only the start of Seninis Track. Google Maps can be confusing if you search for the campground directly, so it’s best to navigate to the pinned location and then follow the track to the campsite.

**Please do not RSVP to any Eastern Hiking & Adventure event unless you are fully committed to attending.** It is **your** responsibility to check the date, distance, and difficulty of the walk before RSVPing. Members who frequently withdraw at the last minute, fail to show up, arrive without being on the "going" list, or behave disrespectfully towards leaders or fellow members will be asked to leave the walk and may be removed from the group. All leaders are unpaid volunteers who invest a great deal of their own time to plan and research each walk. Their efforts deserve respect and consideration. Hiking for Health and Happiness!
On the third Sunday of every month we take a walk in nature.
Exercise is so important to all of us and nature has its own unique way of healing.
It helps us live in the present, enjoy our surroundings, regain balance and perspective and be pleased with ourselves for going out and doing something.
And it costs nothing except time and effort.
Our hikes are all over Greater Melbourne and afar.
Generally our walks will be 2 to 2.5 hours of moderate grade. Those who want to go more quickly can but generally we try to stay as a group and enjoy the sounds and beauty of nature together.
Please read the waiver liability before you RSVP

MO: “Our Neighborhood” (Shenandoahs; Thornton + Gravel Springs Gaps) (36 miles)
Let’s just stay in the “neighborhood” next month. I considered backpacking another segment of West Virginia’s Allegheny Trail, but it is too far to drive and set up a shuttle for an ordinary weekend. I’ll save it for Memorial Day weekend in May. But don’t let the “neighborhood" tag fool you. This 36 mile loop features 3,700 feet of climbing Saturday and 2,400 Sunday. If you’ve been getting soft during these cold winter weeks, you’ll feel this one! (I’ve given this trip the “neighborhood” title because it is in our “backyard” and because it goes over Neighbor Mountain. Ok. I’ve had funnier trip titles . . .)
**FRIDAY**: We’ll meet at the Vienna Metro at 5:00 p.m. to park at Thornton Gap. https://maps.app.goo.gl/1wd8gzfJnYSXh2v87DC
We’ll hike 1.5 miles north on the Appalachian Trail to camp at the Pass Mtn. Hut. It will be 1.5 miles.
**SATURDAY**: We’ll hike north on the AT, turn left on the Neighbor Mtn Trail, turn right on the Jeremy’s Run Trail back to the AT, continuing north to the Gravel Springs Hut. It will be 22 miles.
**SUNDAY:** We’ll hike south on the AT to Keyser Run Rd to Pole Link
Bridge Trail to Piney Branch Trail to Hull School Trail to Rocky Branch Trail back to the AT south to Thornton Gap. It will be 15 miles.

I’m just a co-participant on this trip, not a guide or an expert. I’ve been hiking with DCUL since 2017 but have no special training, such as organizational, medical, or navigational.
You are officially on the trip if you both RSVP on Meetup, we engage by email, text, or the app, and you meet me at the Metro. Otherwise, you are doing your own trip until you make physical contact with me and I recognize you as a co-participant. I’m open to questions.
By RSVPing to this trip or any other DCUL trip, you agree to these guidelines and to DCUL's waiver liability terms (https://dculbackpacking.com/about/liability-waiver/)

WHO: Open to the general public, adults & teens with solid attention spans. Know your loved ones are safe wherever they are.
WHY: Mired in a disaster zone, travel or rural area far from a hospital, or natural area miles from an access point ... accidents, destructive weather, and terrorism happen, and all-too-often members of a group are not capable of dealing with the emergency. This leads to improper care of the patient, and endangers the entire group. Many recreational accidents are preventable, and improper care of trauma can compound even simple injuries. Very few first aid programs actually address the issues of providing emergency care in a setting where 911 is overwhelmed or not immediately reachable. In this course, classroom instruction and Q&A are interwoven with practical work and problem-solving exercises. Hands-on experience - a most powerful learning tool - during scenarios comprise \~50% of class.
TIMING: This is a 2-day class, Saturday and Sunday, 8:00am -7pm each day.
Fee: $295 (Earlybird) $325 (If registering less than 30 days before class)
MO W1: Catoctin Highlight Reel
This route takes us by many scenic landmarks in northern Maryland: Annapolis Rocks, Black Rock, Raven Rock, Cunningham Falls, Cat Rock, Chimney Rock, and Wolf Rock. The splits will be 13.75/19.75
We will meet at the Grovesnor-Strathmore kiss and ride at 7:30am, and carpool to the trailhead about an hour away, I will arrange to set up the shuttle either beforehand or on our way. We will start from the Annapolis Rocks trailhead and hike north on the AT to raven Rock shelter, stopping to see Annapolis, Black, and Raven Rocks on our way. We will settle in a Raven Rocks shelter for the night. The shelter is quite large, and there are campsites available. The next morning, we will retrace our steps back to the last road and roadwalk 2.5 miles to make the jump from the AT to the Catoctin Mountain Trail. Once there, we will hike several miles to route 77, where our cars will be, and pass them to hike the loop to Cunningham Falls, Cat Rock, Chimney Rock, Wolf Rock, and Thurmont Vista, before returning to our shuttle vehicle back near the falls. For any members who are looking to become veteran members, day two is long enough for you to graduate! Anyone looking for a shorter second day may stop at the cars when we pass on route 77, making it a less than 10 mile day.
This is a W1 trip, so be prepared for winter conditions. We will monitor the weather as it gets closer.
