We will be hiking the loop trail, (counter clockwise) around the BeaverDam Reservoir starting at the brand new Reservoir Park VisitorsCenter. Beautiful views of the water and varied woodland areas. This is an 7.5 MILE loop hike around one of Northern Virginia's largest bodies of water. The loop is mainly flat with a tiny hill or two. I've rated the loop moderate because the distance is 7.5 miles and we will be hiking about 22 minutes per mile - just under 3 miles per hour. After the hike we'll head over to Lark Brewing. 24205 James Monroe Hwy, Aldie, VA 20105 for food and beverages. I will make every effort for your safety. You are hiking at your own risk. Dogs are welcome on the hike as long as they are good with groups, friendly and you follow all leash laws. I like kids but this is an adult event so please no kids or any one under 21. The next NoVABeerSec event - "Informal Gathering of Security Minds Over Beer'' will be Tuesday, June 23rd, 5:30PM til 7ish at Starr Hill Tysons Biergarten (1805 Capital One Dr S Suite 1100, Tysons, VA 22102). **Venue for June:** Starr Hill Brewery / Biergarten (Outdoor) **\*\*\* The Biergarten is primarily an outdoor venue, if the weather isn't cooperating we'll shift into Brewpub located on the ground level next to Capital One Hall \*\*\*** In the early 1990s, Charlottesville native, Mark Thompson took his biology degree from James Madison University and moved to Portland, Oregon, ground zero for craft beer’s growth in America. The natural blend of art and science poured into the brewing scene inspired him to take up the craft. Working alongside brewers in Oregon and Colorado, Mark honed his own artisan beer recipes. An old friend looking to start a brewpub and music hall back in Charlottesville eventually lured Mark back to Virginia. In September 1999, they partnered to found Starr Hill Brewery out of a passion for great beer and live music. Named after the local neighborhood, the brewery shared its original space with the Starr Hill Music Hall. The historic storefront on Main Street was once home to the state of Virginia’s first craft brewing operation, Blue Ridge Brewing Company. **Additional Info:** We are an inclusive group, so if we missed anyone please let us know or if you want to bring your significant other/spouse please do. Our inaugural event was small but successful, so we'll be doing it again--this time with more notice. Once again, the event will be held in my apartment building, The Edmund, which is located directly above the Wegmans in Reston. Wegmans offers free parking, so park there and walk around the building to the lobby of the apartment complex, where I'll greet everyone and bring us all up to the fourth floor. (The elevator is access controlled, so we'll go up together.) Just bring a bottle of wine and however many cups you want to use to sample everyone else's wines. (There's a sink to wash out the cups.) Also, Meetup charges organizers (meaning me) $180 every six months, so please bring $1 to help defray this cost. Hope this massive sum doesn't break the bank. :-) Depending on the weather and what everyone is in favor of, we'll either meet in a big room or in a courtyard. (They're both on the same floor.) We'll decide once we're upstairs. Can't wait to meet you all!

Get ready for a fantastic evening! We’ll kick things off with a brisk 30-minute hike along the beautiful lakeside. Afterward, we can groove to a free concert by The Roadducks from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Be sure to pack your favorite lawn chairs, cozy blankets, and a delicious picnic spread! If you'd rather buy food there, you will also find tasty food trucks, ice cream, and refreshing 2 Silos beer available for purchase.

Run starts promptly at 9:45 am and follows a 1.5 mile loop around the lake. Do however many loops you like! Run at your own pace. After the run, we'll meet at the Brew House for a beer or coffee and BREAKFAST pretzels! Those cannot be anything but delicious. See you there.
