Our free-of-charge meet-up upstairs in Ryan's Bar. This is a casual meet up for people who want to play boardgames. Lots of people bring plenty of games and rules will always be explained so don't worry if you're new to the hobby and you don't have anything to bring along or think you won't know how to play. Late comers always welcome, you just might have to wait a little for a game to open up. **The meet ups are free of charge but we do ask that people support the bar by buying food and/or drink. The bar is very accommodating to us and it's important that we support them in return. Bringing in outside food or drink is completely unacceptable.** Check out the comments below where people will say what games they are bringing and express your interest in joining if interested.

These events are suitable for those who already have a regular meditation practice and want to continue to do so in a supportive environment with other meditators. Learn and play Japanese mahjong! Friendly meetup open to everyone, beginners very welcome 🀄️. Note: while the meetup is free, we would ask that you order something as courtesy for the venue :). We now have a donation box, ask the host if you feel like supporting. RSVP recommended so that we can make sure there is room for you. State Pathologist Dr. SallyAnne Collins will be in conversation with Garrett Fagan about the history of forensic science, the development of investigative techniques and their use in crime fiction from the historical to the contemporary. The discussion will consider what the fictional pathologist Quirke in John Banville's Christine Falls gets right and wrong about the work of a forensic pathologist, and the differences between forensic pathology in the 1950's and today. The work of the State Pathologist will be explained and there will be an opportunity for questions. Dr. Sally Collins studied medicine at Edinburgh University in Scotland and specialises in Forensic Histopathology in Liverpool before returning to Edinburgh. After five years there, Dr. Collis joined the Office of the State Pathologist in Dublin as a State Pathologist. Garrett Fagan teaches literature at the Open University and at universities in Dublin and at Warwick University in the UK. He teaches the One Dublin One Book/UCD course on Banville's Christine Falls. The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be. This week is Twos-day on a Wednesday. Bring your favorite 2 player games and be ready to teach some and learn others. We'll bounce around and get to know new people and new games. Think speed dating but without the stress, romance or dating! And we don't judge, if you'd prefer to stick to bigger games by all means, go for it! The Forge does have a full bar and kitchen. There is no cover charge but they do request all attendees to purchase a minimum of ~$20 per person. Soft drink refills are $1 each. Please support our hosts so we can continue to provide great events for the group! The Forge has a large library of games available for us to enjoy. Hosts and regulars will also provide numerous popular games but please bring any games you would like to teach and/or play. Doors open at 6, and we expect gaming to be rolling by around 630. Please promptly end your games and clear out the space at 10pm when the bar closes. We encourage socializing but do not permit disruptive behavior of any kind.
