To celebrate the upcoming summer solstice, join a small group of like-minded hikers for a sunset-to-sunrise hiking experience in the Wienerwald hills on the night of June 20 to 21 (Saturday to Sunday). If you have ever wondered what it feels like to hike through the night but have not tried it yet, this is your chance to join fellow hikers for a truly memorable experience. We’ll follow the “Towers of the Vienna Woods” route between Bad Vöslau and Mödling, just outside Vienna, mostly along forest roads and trails, visiting seven lookout towers along the way that offer night-time panoramas over the surrounding hills and scattered towns. 🤔 **FITNESS LEVEL** Although this full-day adventure requires no technical skills, you should have **solid endurance to comfortably complete a ~31 km route with around 1100 m of elevation gain and descent (relaxed pace)**. If you are new to hiking, it is recommended to join shorter or less demanding hikes first to better assess your fitness and hiking ability. 🌄 **WHAT TO EXPECT** We’ll meet at Bad Vöslau train station (REX1 connection from Vienna) approx. 1 hour before the sunset and follow a scenic route (“Towers of the Vienna Woods”) through the hills (incl. Every Saturday at 9:30 am, we meet, we run, in the magnificent Schönbrunn park, and then we go for breakfast. Want to discuss politics or the best recipes for banana pancakes? Not a problem. What to expect: Start by meeting Adrian, Ali, Liz, Paul and Sonia on-time at 9:30am outside the Schönbrunn U-Bahn stop (exit Grünbergstraße). Typically, small groups of people will run at the same pace as you, so you never have to walk/run alone :) We finish one hour later, at about 10:40am, reconvening just inside the Hietzinger Tor exit. Breakfast Details: Anker bakery opposite the U4 Hietzing station and depending on the weather, grab something for a picnic in Schönbrunn park, or hang out in the bakery. Join us on a relaxed evening bike tour along the Donauinsel to enjoy the sunset in a beautiful setting during the longest day of the year! We start at the bike rental at Copa Beach in Kaisermühlen and ride leisurely towards the eastern end of the Donauinsel. The route takes you past the Kraftwerk Freundau and offers wonderful views of the Danube and the surrounding nature along the way. We take a break at the end of the Donauinsel to watch the sunset in peace and enjoy the atmosphere. Join us as we get together to get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “Create a better world” by helping serve those in need. NOTE: We’re switching it up this time and going with a DINNER shift on Mon, 7/6. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for DINNER from 4:30 to 6:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 4:20pm and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking are available in the surrounding area.
