The return of Motogarden Bike Nights on Thursdays! Let's meet up at Central Machine Works. Come on out for a bite to eat and maybe a drink with The Sons. Bike parking in the courtyard behind the brewery off 5th st next to the stage. With this being a larger bike night, we all get to hang out with the rest of the Austin motorcycle community. Scheduling this meetup for 6pm, to match up with the start time for the Motogarden bike night.

Come out for a casual evening bike ride along Brushy Creek Trail East. We roll at 6:05pm and plan to ride for about an hour. Distance is flexible depending on the group's pace. The trail is fully paved, so any type of bike works. Road bike, mountain bike, hybrid, whatever you've got. All skill levels welcome. Bring water and lights just in case we're out past sunset.

We will be meeting in person and online via Zoom to discuss and share projects and knowledge related to microcontroller and microcomputer projects using the Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, and others. WilCo Food Tours - every month we'll eat dinner at a highly recommended restaurant. Join us for some delicious food and good conversation while we explore Central Texas cuisine. This month's stop on the WilCo Food Tour is 四姐 Special Noodle with a unique cooking technique that has customers fascinated. In early 2022, the owner personally developed a special noodle dish that involves cooking the noodles and broth on high-temperature natural cobblestones in the pot. This causes the broth to immediately boil and creates a remarkable sight for customers to witness. The high-temperature cobblestones also ensure that the noodles and soup remain hot for a longer period of time, providing a more enjoyable dining experience.

I have been studying the question of "self" online with Prof. Ellie Anderson and so I thought a prompt on the "self" might be interesting. Full confession: I had Claude create this prompt and I like it, so here goes: Imagine a thought experiment that merges two classic puzzles: > You undergo a procedure, performed neuron by neuron, in which every biological component of your brain is replaced with a functionally identical synthetic substitute. At each step, your behavior, memories, and personality remain unchanged. When the last neuron is swapped, is the consciousness experiencing the world still you? And — more pressingly — was there ever a continuous "you" to begin with? ### Questions to Wrestle With * If consciousness is purely physical, does the *gradual* nature of the replacement matter, or is it equivalent to being destroyed and rebuilt? * Could there be a "self" without continuity of experience — even moment to moment, while you sleep? On a more practical level, consider the simpler case first: **hemispherectomy** patients — people who have had an entire cerebral hemisphere surgically removed — often retain a strong sense of personal identity and continuity. This suggests "you" are not rigidly tied to specific physical material. But does that vindicate the synthetic neuron case, or merely show that identity is more *flexible* than we thought — not that it can survive *complete* substrate replacement?
