**✅ Solving Real-Life Problem using Agentic AI and AWS cloud**
**📌 Speaker: Senthil Baskaran, Emerging Technology Architect**
Parents in Singapore receive dozens of school event PDFs via ParentsGateway each term and manually re-entering every date, time, and location into their calendars is tedious and error-prone. One PDF upload, two taps, and every event is in your calendar — that was the goal. School Event Processor — an AI-powered web app that extracts calendar events from school PDF letters and adds them directly to Google Calendar.
Built with Next.js 15 (App Router), TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, AWS Bedrock (Claude Sonnet 4.5), OpenAI GPT-4o as fallback, NextAuth v5 (Google OAuth), pdfjs-dist for client-side PDF rendering, and AWS Amplify for hosting, the app was designed to solve a common, everyday pain point for parents.

A safe space for recently divorced & divorcing men
This is a beacon of light or radio messsage for those wanting someone to hear you out. I will be here to hear you out. I truly know how you feel.
If you're going through a divorce—or have recently been through one—and you're feeling like you don’t quite have a space to talk openly, I just want you to know: you’re not alone. This group was created for exactly that reason.
I believe there’s strength in showing up, sharing honestly, and just having a conversation with someone who understands—even if we’re all at different stages of the journey.
This session will be informal. No pressure, no expectations. Just a chance to meet, talk, listen, and connect. Whether you want to share your story or just sit and hear others out, you’re welcome.
If you’ve been looking for a sign to reach out or take that first step—this could be it. And if you show up, at the very least, you’ll have someone to talk to.
Looking forward to meeting you.

*This is an in-person event. Successful Registration is subject to approval.*
**ABOUT**
**In association with [Women's Dev Singapore](https://www.meetup.com/women-devs-sg/), [Zenika](https://www.linkedin.com/company/zenikasingapore/) presents A Practitioner’s Perspective:**
Scalability is often treated as a purely technical challenge — something to solve with the right architecture, tools, or infrastructure. In reality, it is just as much about how we think.
In this talk, \*\*[Fion ](https://www.linkedin.com/in/fion-sim-8427741b0/)\*\*shares her journey of learning to design for scalability through real-world experience — navigating evolving requirements, growing systems, and the trade-offs that come with them. Rather than focusing on deep technical patterns, the session explores the decision-making process behind building systems that can grow sustainably.
Through practical examples, she will reflect on:
* How to recognise when scalability becomes a concern
* Balancing simplicity vs. future-proofing
* Breaking down systems into manageable, evolvable components
* Learning from constraints, failures, and iteration
This session is designed for developers who are early to mid in their journey, or anyone looking to strengthen their intuition around building systems that don’t just work today — but continue to work as they scale.
**About the Speaker - [Fion Sim](https://www.linkedin.com/in/fion-sim-8427741b0/):**
Fion is a fullstack web developer focused on building robust, scalable applications across the modern web stack. She has hands-on experience with frontend frameworks such as Next.js and Angular, and develops backend microservices using Node.js and Prisma.
Driven by curiosity and continuous learning, Fion is particularly interested in how systems evolve over time — and how thoughtful design decisions can support long-term scalability and maintainability.

AI Builders Co-work + The Stage: Building Past Demos
**Friday is our open co-working day.**
Friday is our open co-working day. Arrive anytime from 10AM — bring your laptop, grab any open seat, stay as long as you like.
Most people show up after lunch and settle in before The Stage. It's quiet, focused, and builder- and founder-led.
**The Stage @ 1.30pm**
**Topic: Building past demos: Agentic engineering patterns for Brownfield Systems**
Hrishi Olickel · CEO, Southbridge.ai (formerly YC W21)
Hrishi runs Southbridge.ai, where he's spent the last year building long-horizon data agents for healthcare, research and finance — the kind of places where an agent that's flaky 5% of the time isn't an agent, it's a liability. He writes at olickel.com when he's not shipping.
Most AI demos look great and fall apart the moment real data shows up. Hrishi's sharing what he's learned about engineering agents that hold up past the greenfield honeymoon — the patterns that make them repeatable, dependable, and actually usable after 0 to 1. You'll leave knowing what breaks next, and how to build for it from day one.
Hrishi writes at [olickel.com](olickel.com)
After the session, we go back to work

Rethinking Knowledge Work in the Age of AI
We invite you to an in-person session in Seattle exploring the real impact of AI on knowledge-driven industries — from shifting economics and the disruption of traditional SaaS and consulting models to where organizations can still build lasting competitive advantage.
As AI platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini continue to redefine how work gets done, organizations face a critical question: how can they adapt, remain competitive, and create lasting value?
We’ll discuss practical strategies for integrating AI while preserving human expertise, along with actionable approaches to upskilling teams for an AI-driven workplace. Drawing on real-world experience from training thousands of professionals and deploying AI solutions, this session will provide clear, applicable insights for today’s evolving landscape.
Following a short presentation, the session will open into an interactive discussion where attendees can share perspectives and explore key questions around the evolving role of humans, organizational adaptation, and staying competitive in an AI-first world.
**Who should attend:**
• Executives and managers in SaaS, consulting, and knowledge-driven organizations
• Professionals exploring AI upskilling and workforce transformation
• Anyone interested in the future of AI and knowledge work
📍 **Location:** Data Science Dojo, 5010 148th Ave NE, Suite 200A, Redmond, WA, United States

Robots : Reasoning and Acting
Robots are improving at an increasing pace - due to improvements in hardware; simulation environments; and machine learning approaches at many levels : What if your Agents could take physical form?
Talks (subject to updates...):
**"Putting AI Agents into Humanoid Robots" - Yip Jia Qi**
Since Jia Qi last talked at our meetup in 2023, he has been working at Menlo Research - who have recently open-sourced the Asimov humanoid robot (https://asimov.inc/diy-kit). In his talk, Jia Qi will talk about what has already been accomplished, and outline Menlo's (even more ambitious) goals.
**"World [Action] Models" - Martin Andrews**
Martin will be giving a high-level description of the World Model landscape (including JEPA) while also comparing them to other approaches for robotics applications.
**FOOD UPDATE :** Google has told us that **there WILL BE** pizza at the event
\-\-\-
Talks will start at 7:10pm (entry at 6:45pm) and end at around 9:00pm, at which point attendees can come up to the front for a bit of a chat with each other, and the speakers.
Due to some recent security incidents at the venue please take note of the new DevSpace security procedures [https://bit.ly/devspace-security](https://bit.ly/devspace-security)
Attendees will not be admitted later than 15min after the talks have started.
As always, we're actively looking for more speakers - both '30 minutes long-form', and lightning talks. For the lightning talks, we welcome folks to come and talk about something cool they've done with keras, PyTorch, JAX and/or Deep Learning for 5-10mins (so, if you have slides, then #max=10). We believe that the key ingredient for the success of a Lightning Talk is simply the cool/interesting factor. It doesn't matter whether you're an expert or an enthusiastic beginner: Given the responses we have had to previous talks, we're sure there are lots of people who would love to hear what you've been playing with. If you're interested in talking, please just introduce yourself to Martin at one of the events.
