Creative Code Toronto meetup at InterAccess
Join us for a Toronto meetup of creative coders! This will be a venue to get to know each other and see what's going on in the community. We'll have a space downtown and some food available.
We're partnering with [InterAccess](https://interaccess.org), a gallery, educational facility, production studio, festival, and registered charity dedicated to new media and emerging practices in art and technology!
* If you've got a project you've worked on in the past that you're proud of, we'd love to see it and for you to walk us through what went into it.
* If you're currently working on something or investigating some new ideas and feel like sharing, this would be a great time discuss your process so far!
* If you haven't done anything yet but are interested in creative coding, we'd love to see what works have inspired you.
Sign up here if you're interested in speaking! [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MsbtdvTGMNT75lqq4lnxydY4TczStAOZE1Ap8mQJKeM](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MsbtdvTGMNT75lqq4lnxydY4TczStAOZE1Ap8mQJKeM)
**What is creative code?** *Creative coding* refers to anything with an artistic component that uses code as a medium. We welcome artists who use code (for visuals, audio, poetry, or whatever else), designers, animators, toolmakers, researchers, or just enjoyers and people looking to learn more!
**Location:** InterAccess, at 32 Lisgar St.

Come try Ringmaster, a Story-building Game
***Interested in D&D or tabletop roleplaying games (RPGs)? Come join this beginner-friendly session!*** ***No previous experience required. All materials will be provided: Just bring yourself!*** ***For more details, please visit the*** [Discord](https://discord.gg/DHTp5UabGg) ***.***
***Note: This event's venue, The Guildhouse, does have a seating fee (\~$10+tax), which you’ll cover in-person.***
***You are bound to the circus. What do you think of the ringmaster? When the big top comes crashing down, will you help save the circus, or is this your chance to run away?***
**Ringmaster is a dark fantasy, GM-less, diceless storytelling RPG played mainly by going around in a circle answering prompts from a card deck. The cards ask about the player’s characters, their relationships, and their past and present. Eventually, a crisis will happen, and players will each decide where their allegiances lie.**
**For new RPG players, Ringmaster is an opportunity to learn about the standard meta-rules such as the X-Card and to try out cooperative storytelling in RPGs without the pressure of math and dice.**
**For veteran RPG players and GMs, this is a great chance to try out those character ideas and plot devices you’ve had sticking around! The game opens with collaborative world building, and we can lean into whatever setting or theme folks have in mind.**
***The Game:*** [https://spotlessdice.itch.io/ringmaster](https://spotlessdice.itch.io/ringmaster)

***About the GM:***
**Chris has a background in cognitive science, a creative writing award, and 500+ hours running RPGs publically on Meetup.**
***Conduct Policy***
**By signing up, you are acknowledging that you align with Toronto Prosocial RPG's focus on gaming as a way of exploring social and emotional wellness, and that the game may be paused at any time (via the X-Card policy) to recenter on that focus. In addition to the X-Card, the last half hour of each session may be dedicated to debriefing.**
Exploring Claude Design: Vibe Design Your UI (In-person, Toronto)

**Event Details:**
* **Location:** CSI Spadina - 192 Spadina Ave., Toronto, ON M5T 2C2. Viola Desmond room on the 3rd floor

We'll look at:
* Generating a design system from a Figma file
* Iterating with the tweaks panel and edit mode
* Prototyping UI from existing code and screenshots
* Where Claude Design fits alongside Figma and Claude Code

FREE Spanish, English, and French Oral Conversational Class!
\*These classes are not a language exchange, but instead are meant to be a step in between so that students feel confident maintaining in depth and grammatically correct oral conversations outside of class\*
\***Meetup event numbers only tend to show new students registering and do not include returning students attending class.** **Per class, there is an average of 7 students.** The first 2 classes are free and then only cost between $18 and $35 depending on which type of class you want to continue with\*
These French, English (For Spanish and French speakers only), and Spanish classes are primarily meant for adults who are travellers, or who are planning to live in a French, English, or Spanish-speaking country. The classes are primarily oral-based through guided conversations. They will teach you how to handle conversations in situations such as **"Going to the Convenience Store"**, **"Making Plans"**, **"Negotiating Prices"**, and **"Going out for a Drink"**. To ensure that students get used to using the language automatically, students will learn to maintain contextual conversations with timing before moving on to the next lesson. Call (647)787-9953, e-mail us info@monkeylingo.ca, or visit monkeylingo.ca for more information! **Online and private classes are also available!**
No other language classes are as conversational as these ones. We guarantee it! Cheap parking can be found using the "Spot Hero" app.

In Good Company – Saturday Walk & Coffee (Rosedale → Brick Works)
A simple way to meet new people and spend a relaxed Saturday morning outdoors.
This is a new, small meetup series — first walks are now starting.
We’ll meet just outside the main entrance of Rosedale Subway Station at street level (I’ll be standing near the exit and easy to spot), and walk through Rosedale onto the ravine trails toward Evergreen Brick Works, finishing with coffee and conversation.
The format is simple — just a walk, fresh air, and easy conversation.
Most people come on their own, so you’ll likely not be the only new face.
It’s a smaller group by design, which makes it easier to talk and connect without it feeling overwhelming.
Conversations can stay light or go a bit deeper depending on what feels natural — there’s no agenda or structure.
**Timing**
• Meet: 11:00–11:15am at Rosedale Station
• Walk: \~40 minutes at an easy pace
• Coffee: around midday at Brick Works
You’re welcome to join for the full walk or meet us at the café.
If you’re running late, feel free to join us along the route or meet at the café.
If it’s raining heavily, we’ll skip the walk and meet directly at Evergreen Brick Works instead, inside the main café area near the entrance/ordering counter (Picnic Café – Evergreen Brick Works). In case it rains, I will update this invite on the morning of the event day.
I’ll be there to welcome everyone and keep things relaxed and easy.
Looking forward to meeting you.

Locating Limberlost - A Wilderness Hike
**Please note the only way to register for this adventure is on [our website.](https://www.wildernessunion.com/adventures/locating-limberlost-2)**
***Please note that this adventure was originally planned for April 4th, but was rescheduled due to severe weather.***
***Join us for this 10km trek through the quiet, stunning wilderness of Muskoka.***
We'll be exploring the edge of Algonquin Provincial Park in a little-known spot with pristine lakes, budding forests, and incredible rocky landscapes.
As we hike along the trail and trace the edge of a crystal-clear lake, you can expect:
* Dense, old-growth forests where towering trees create a dramatic canopy overhead
* Ancient granite cliffs rising up from the shoreline, carved by glaciers over millions of years.
* Possible glimpses of wildlife like deer, beavers, and all sorts of birds that call this place home.
One of the coolest parts of the hike is getting to see the raw beauty of the Canadian Shield up close. We'll stop at several lookout points where you can take in the incredible panoramic views of the surrounding wilderness.
**There's a mix of terrain, including boardwalks, rocky sections, and well-maintained paths, which is suitable for any moderately fit hiker.**
**Highlights**
**Stunning Views -** Enjoy wild views of the iconic Canadian Shield at the many lookout points along this hike
**Floating Boardwalk -** Stroll across a beautiful floating boardwalk along the lake’s edge
**Sprawling Forest Reserve -** With over 10,000 acres and 70+ trails, this hidden gem has so much to offer
**Event cost: $60+HST (for explorer members) - $50 optional transport available.**
**Register [here.](https://www.wildernessunion.com/adventures/locating-limberlost-2)**
**About Wilderness Union**
Wilderness Union is deliberate about building an outdoors community that connects you to the life-changing magic of the outdoors and helps you find your people.
Members range from 20-40 years old. The group is a mix of GTA locals and newcomers to Toronto from within Canada and abroad.
Attendance numbers on Meetup don't reflect our actual event attendance - we typically have 15-20 community members at each event. Large enough that there's someone new to meet but small enough that it's not overwhelming!

**This special anniversary tour commemorates the burning of the Noronic in Toronto harbour on the evening of September 16-17, 1949! Seventy Seven years ago**
First it was **Ambrose Small** and my team of brilliant detectives who tried to figure it out. The walkers on this tour just about cracked the case. Well done my detectives.
And then the case that shocked Canada and the world, the murder of **Burt Massey!** That was a tough assignment with 15 characters all wanting their time in the sun! But now a new assignment for my brilliant detectives. The Harley Karulis Detective Agency needs your help once again! Here is the folder with all the information, down below! Your assignment awaits! Keep reading.......
Saturday September 17, 1949 in the early hours. A small harmless fire in a closet on C Deck erupted into an inferno that destroyed the Canada Steamship Lines, Noronic. It was Toronto's greatest disaster.
On this tour we will meet and hear the stories of passengers, crew and firefighters who responded on that fateful night. Our goal is to try and figure out the true story of what happened on C Deck in that same closet. Was it an accident or was it done on purpose? If it was indeed arson, then why?
The Noronic was built by the Northern Navigation Company, a subsidiary of the Richelieu and Ontario Navigation Company. It plied the waters of the Great Lakes since its first trip in 1913. It carried millions of happy holiday makers, but things were coming to an end. Could this be the motivation to end the service. Points to ponder!
The car was King or Queen, and the second world war was over and attitudes were "a changing," quickly! The days of the passenger cruise ships on the Great Lakes were seen as part of the old world.
Are you up for this interactive game once again?
This walking tour/game takes participants back in time to 1949 Toronto, and explores the many sites associated with this disaster and the personalities involved. You will be introduced to 15 historic characters and each has their own dark secrets, it will be up to you to uncover the truth.
**This tour DOES not require a PRESTO card! All the sites are centred around the southern section of the downtown core and harbour front!**
Our walk begins outside the **Westin Harbour Castle Hotel** on Queen's Quay and Bay Street just east of the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal on Queen's Quay East at the front doors of the hotel. A video on the disaster will follow in the comments to introduce you to this fascinating piece of Toronto history!
This tour has a ticket price of $15.00 per person. Please get your tickets early if you would like to attend as this tour has a limit of 25 participants!
\*\* **Please note: Please e-transfer the ticket price when booking your space for this tour! You can e-transfer to the following email at:**
