ENJOY the UNDULATING HILLS and VALES, WOODLANDS LAKES and PONDS of HIGHGATE WOODS and the HAMPSTEAD area. WALK START: **Meeting at Highgate Station - Priory Gardens Exit (Northern Line - High Barnet Branch** \- Zone 3\)\. Look for Ken with Kens Events/Meetup Badge\. WALK DISTANCE: Approx. 5 Miles. WALK FINISH: Finishing at Golders Green Tube Station (on the Northern Line). We playtest all sorts of games - strategic, silly, creative, or whatever. Some games are almost done. Some are very early ideas. We test anything that will fit into 90 minutes. You don't need to bring a game - we always love to have new playtesters! Please let us know in the comments when you plan to arrive/leave and whether you are bringing a game or not. This helps us to plan the day better. The schedule is: 10am onwards - gathering, chatting 11am sharp - playing for 90 min ('slot 1') 12:30ish - break for food/chat 1pm sharp - playing for 90 min ('slot 2') 2:30ish - break for food/chat 3pm sharp - playing for 90 min ('slot 3') 4:30ish - finish up Often, we might hang around afterwards, to play some already-published games. We are strict on timings, so please try to arrive a few minutes before the session to limit disruption. You can just come for part of the day if you wish. The reason we have fixed timings for the 3 'slots' is to make it easier for folk to do so. Designers of all levels of experience are welcome! But if it's your first time, we ask that you don't bring a game and just spend some time learning how the group works. The group works based on reciprocation. If you expect to test your own game, make sure stay for long enough to play other games. As a general rule of thumb, you can expect to play one of your own games every third 90-minute session. So if you stay a whole day (3 sessions), you can expect to have one session to play your game(s). A good rule of thumb is that if you come all day, you will have one 90 minute session with two other playtesters in which to test your own games. It is sometimes possible to test games with more players. If your game requires 4 or more, please note that as standard you will be allocated half of a session (45 minutes). Pre-covid, we were getting unmanageable. As a result, we may have to limit attendees. This is a free-to-use venue, and we have to be mindful that other folk want to use the same space. Ah, *il Gattopordo.* Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa's 1958 psychoanalysis-inspired novel, one of the greatest in Italian and world literatures, became one of the auteur Luchio Visconti's greatest cinematic achievements - which is saying a lot, given the rest of his work. *The Leopoard* inspired the coinage of the term ["Lampedusa strategy"](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Di_Lampedusa_strategy) to describe the principle, so often observed in liberal-democratic politics (although not so much lately) of giving the opposition just enough of what they demand that they fail to notice the system and its powers remain unchanged. "If we want things to stay as they are, things will have to change." Never have the wars of liberal nationalism and the rise of the modern bourgeoisie - off the backs but often with the blessings of the old nobility - have been rendered so gorgeously or with such style, on page or on screen. In Sicily in the year 1860, Don Fabrizio Corbera, Prince of Salina, enjoys the customary comforts and privileges of his ancestry. War has broken out between the armies of Francis II of the Two Sicilies and the insurgent volunteer redshirts of Giuseppe Garibaldi. Among the rebels is the Prince's nephew, Tancredi Falconeri, whose romantic politics the Prince hesitantly accepts with some whimsical sympathy. Upset by the uprising, the Prince departs to Palermo. Garibaldi's army subjugates the city and expropriates Sicily from the Bourbons. The Prince muses upon the inevitability of change, with the middle class displacing the ruling class while on the surface everything remains the same. Or does it? This visual feast, starring Burt Lancaster, Claudia Cardinale and the young soon-to-be-fascist Alain Delon, marks the return of LCC's free films series for 2026! We'll be collecting donations to help support our generous hosts for this week at the London Action Resource Centre, Whitechapel - so bring a few quid if you can! If you are anything like me, you wouldn't want to do anything else on your birthday but be outdoors right? Whether by yourself or with friends, a birthday wouldn't be a birthday without cake! Wouldn't you love to know how you can muster up a cake while you are out in the field? And if you are wondering, is this even possible? I can confirm, after doing a bit of research, forking hell, you absolutely can! So come and bake a bushcraft cake with us! It's easier than you think. You only see people cooking savoury dishes or packet desserts. Baking (or steaming) a cake will come in handy one day to celebrate any occasion and actually be great fun to learn. This event is on the same day as Phil's birthday - hence the theme! Happy birthday Phil 🥳. He is a much loved member of the group and friend. THE RULES 🤓 🎂It has to be a cake of some description. Any cake. It can be as small or as big as you like 🎂You can bring pre-prepared mixtures, icings and toppings from home if you want. You can even use packet mixes. It just has to be cooked and assembled on site in camping cookware. 🎂You have to cook it on a stove - any portable cooking stove or fire. No ground fires please. 🎒WHAT YOU WILL NEED ▫️Ingredients ▫️Portable stove or fire ▫️Camping cookware & utensils ▫️Camping chair or sit pad ▫️Snacks ▫️Water ▫️First aid kit ❌ NO PEANUTS 📍Braintree (exact location tbc) 📅 5th April ⌚1pm - 4.30pm 💳 FREE I have deliberately excluded recipes! This is to increase the chances of us all baking something different. Your cake does not need to be perfect, we're just going to experiment, have fun and learn together. But there is so much more to see. Be inspired by the many beautiful museums and art galleries. Admire the beautiful architecture and majestic college buildings. Explore beautiful old passages set around the historic market place and colleges, where a unique and relaxing shopping experience can be found. Here you have a mix of independent shops and high street brands. Or relax in the many beautiful pubs, restaurants and cafes. The price includes return train ticket and the bus back to Cambridge station in the afternoon. When we arrive there will be a guided tour of the city, with free time for lunch and sight-seeing. So you could in fact do both hikes and stay overnight in Three Oaks. Bring your pillow for the train home! **The Data-Driven Brand: Using Analytics to Shape Perception** Can you use analytics to improve tacos? This being CBUSDAW, we think the answer is probably “yes”, but we’re not sure how to implement or test this theory. For our April meetup we’ve got Sara Kear, CMO of Condado Tacos, to investigate this delicious question. Sara will explore how she blends quantitative data and qualitative customer feedback to shape brand positioning and drive business decisions. We all know that marketing and analytics go way beyond attribution. Sara will show how Condado uses customer insights to inform product and pricing strategy. She’ll also highlight how Condado leverages customer feedback at scale to influence operational priorities, positioning marketing as the voice of the customer across the organization. In the last 12 years Condado has gone from one location in Columbus to 52 locations across 10 states, so we’re guessing there’s more to that growth than really good guac (though the guac probably helps). Join us as we get together to get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “create a better world” by helping serve those in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:20am and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking is available in the surrounding area.
