Casual Dining Out: Soul Thai Kitchen and Bar
Welcome to Casual Dining Out, the event series where we explore counterserve establishments, food halls, and other venues for quick bites of Asian, "fusion", and other fare! As in the past, the field for these events will typically be limited, so please RSVP quickly if you know you're coming (or drop out quickly if you can't make it to give others a chance). RSVPs will close at 4 PM the day of the event and anyone who drops afterwards may be subject to the dreaded "no show" designation.

Jen N's Last Local Euchre: Alexandria Euchre Club (03/12) 2nd Thurs @ Ramparts
**The Organizers are dropping like flies... Come out and wish Jen N. congratulations on closing on her new house! So, before she heads off to South Carolina to live in it, this will be her last local euchre.**
**Members can begin RSVP'ing for this In Person Meetup two weeks before the event.**
++++++++++++++++++++++++
**Our 2nd Thursday of the month Euchre Location:**
Ramparts Tavern & Grill
1700 Fern Street, Alexandria, VA
[https://www.rampartstavern.com/](https://www.rampartstavern.com/)
GPS: [https://goo.gl/maps/embeJAi5iFGdbNca8](https://goo.gl/maps/embeJAi5iFGdbNca8)
**Parking:**
* Burke & Herbert Bank Parking Lot across the street
* CVS Parking Lot behind the restaurant
* Neighborhood street parking
++++++++++++++++++++++++
* **Middle Room Opens @ 6:30pm (Gary will be there).**
* **Please arrive by 7:00pm.**
* **Please don't leave before 9:30pm.**
* We are in the middle room, accessible via the bar or the restaurant.
* We start play as soon as we have enough people to get a table going.
* We will be getting our bills at 9:30pm so we are all settled by 10:00pm.
* Ramparts doesn't close until well after 10:00pm so there isn't a rush for us to get out or anything.
++++++++++++++++++++++++
**For those new or haven't been in awhile, here is some basic information about our meetup:**
1. **Know How to Play the Game**: Every member of the Alexandria Euchre Club must know how to play the game of Euchre to attend a meetup. If you know the game, but it has been years since you've played, that is fine as we've all been there and will be patient while it comes flooding back to you.
2. **New To The Group:** If you have never been, we are a friendly group and welcome everyone to come. Very few people come with a friend or spouse. What this means is that it will not be awkward to arrive alone. It is better than a happy hour because it is easy to make conversation about cards. You don't have to even ask the dreaded "what do you do?" question. If you come three times, you are a regular. Also, house rules are that we play stick the dealer (ask if you don't know this variation).
3. **Correct Table Count:** Euchre is a 4 person game--yes, I know there are 3 and 6 person variations, but most people prefer the 4 person game. What this means is that if you sign-up, we are counting on you to be there. The deadline for RSVP is 2 days prior to the meet-up. Please update by that time, especially if you are going to cancel your RSVP. If you get 3 "no shows" and you'll only be able to sign up via an organizer.
4. **The Waiting List:** If this month is like the previous months, we will have a waiting list. Please be considerate and honor your RSVP. Of course, if you are sick and on death's door we don't want you to come out and get the rest of us sick; however, if not please do come play. A good evening of food, drink, cards, and friendship may be all that you need to be more productive the next day. If you are on the waiting list I am expecting you to either remove yourself if you don't want to be considered for an open slot, or check the site (or email) so you know you've been promoted to an RSVP of YES when a slot opens up.
5. **Costs:** There are some costs associated with meetup -- I have to pay Meetup every 6 months for listing on their website. They don't work off of advertising fees. We pass the bowl around and ask people to throw a $1 in each time they come.
Thanks everyone... looking forward to seeing ya !!

Handy Bikes | Beginners' No Drop Ride
Meet in the parking lot of the Handy Bikes Service Center.
At the start of each ride, we'll go over introductions to have a sense of participants' cycling experience.
Over the course of our rides, we'll address the following:
group riding dynamics;
safety (ABC check & trail hazards); gear shifting;
hill climbing;
audible and hand communication within the group, with other trail users, and automobile drivers;
what to bring on each ride; etc...
Bring your questions, water & a snack.
When it starts getting dark earlier, we'll need lights as well.
Helmets a MUST.
If you can, and especially if you've had issues with your bike, come a bit early to have it looked at ahead of the ride.
PS - all levels are welcome to join, however, be mindful that if you are an experienced rider, please be prepared to ride at the pace of the newest rider in the group.
Each week, depending on who's in attendance, and participants' riding ability/comfort level, we may do skills practice as a group in the parking lot or at the west end of Wheeler Ave. Once everyone is comfortable, we'll go for a ride on local trails and neighborhood streets and finish back at the shop.
Happy Pedaling !!

[Verse 1]
Love spreads her arms, waits there for the nails
I forgive you, boy, I will prevail
Too much to take, some cross to bear
I'm hiding in the trees with a picnic, she's over there, yeah

Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah

She didn't scream, she didn't make a sound
I forgive you, boy, but don't leave town
Cold black skin, naked in the rain
Hammer flash in the lightning, they're hurting her again
[Chorus]
Let me put you in the picture
Let me show you what I mean
The messiah is my sister
Ain't no king, man, she's my queen
Let me put you in the picture
Let me show you what I mean
The messiah is my sister
Ain't no king, man, she's my queen
[Post-Chorus]
I have a dream, I've seen the light
Don't put it out, and she's alright, yeah, she's my sister

Come Play Tammany Hall
We have one copy of Tammany Hall, so we can accommodate up to 5 players. If you have a copy, let us know. Otherwise, if we get more than 5 players, we will play additional appropriate games.
From BGG:
***Tammany Hall*** *is a game of backstabbing, corruption, temporary alliances, and taking power at all costs. If you want to rule New York, you are going to need to play the city's growing immigrant populations against one another. Help the immigrant groups who owe you political favors, call in those favors to slander your rivals, and win elections.*
*In **Tammany Hall,** players help immigrants settle in New York, collect political favors from those immigrant groups, send ward bosses into Manhattan to secure votes, and slander political opponents. An election is held at the end of every fourth year, and the player who uses his power base best will be elected mayor. The Mayor's grip on the city is tenuous at best. After every election, the Mayor must pay off his political rivals by placing them in offices that they can wield to try to take control of the city. Every player is your friend, every player is your enemy.*

Profs & Pints Northern Virginia: A Practical Guide to Social Change
[Profs and Pints Northern Virginia](https://www.profsandpints.com/washingtondc) presents: **“A Practical Guide to Social Change,”** a research-based look at how communities bring about reform and progress, with Marissa Robinson, founder of Real Health Impact LLC and an adjunct professor at George Washington University who teaches courses focused on public health leadership and social change.
[Advance tickets: $13.50 plus sales tax and processing fees. Available at [https://events.ticketleap.com/tickets/profsandpints/nv-social-change](https://events.ticketleap.com/tickets/profsandpints/nv-social-change) .]
Systems built on inequality rarely transform without deliberate pressure from the people most committed to justice, because progress takes coordination, conviction and willingness to change what has always been accepted. Real change starts when people choose to move together.
Learn what research and experience say about how to make real social progress with Dr. Marissa Robinson, a public health practitioner who previously worked in federal agencies coordinating global and national public health initiatives focused on infectious diseases, HIV, and health equity.
Among the key questions she’ll tackle: How do communities overcome barriers to create real change? When should evidence guide decisions and when does context matter more?
She’ll discuss established frameworks for moving from intention to measurable progress and talk about the importance of building coalitions that actually work and of making decisions grounded in real data. You’ll learn about the importance of testing ideas on a small scale before going big, as well as how to use rapid feedback loops and continuous improvement cycles to refine approaches and scale what truly works.
Dr. Robinson will share stories of ordinary people and communities who refused to accept the status quo and pushed through real barriers to achieve breakthrough results. She’ll talk about practical strategies, usable frameworks, and evidence-based examples that people can apply immediately in their own communities and organizations to support change that lasts.
If you have dreamed about bringing about progress in your world, this talk will give you the clarity, direction, and confidence it takes to turn such dreams into reality. ( Door: $17, or $15 with a student ID. Listed time is for doors. The talk starts 30 minutes later.)
