We’re heading into the heart of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug for a beautiful loop hike starting and ending at station Driebergen Zeist. From the station we quickly enter the wide open heather fields of Groote Heidestein, with heather fields, sandy paths, and a wonderfull spacious feeling. We follow these open landscapes all the way to the forests surrounding the Pyramid of Austerlitz. After about 10 kilometers we take a well deserved break at the pyramid. You can grab a snack or drink there, or enjoy your own packed lunch. This is the area where the famous wolf Bram once roamed and made the news. The situation has since settled, so the coast is clear again, but it adds a touch of wild history to the landscape. From here we loop back towards Driebergen Zeist through landgoed Heidestein. This section is full of surprises, including narrow passages and small tunnels that make the walk feel playful and slightly adventurous. This year after several requests, 4bid starts a new series of life drawing weekend intensives! This four-lesson weekend course covers all you need to know (or need a nudge to remember to put into practice) when it comes to model drawing. Over the 4 sessions (Friday to Monday, each 3h) you'll delve much deeper into the subject matter than in our regular 1,5h weekly appointments. Under the tutor's guidance, you will cover composition, anatomy, and shading. In each lesson, you'll work with the same live model, to master the understanding of their shapes. You will be invited to immediately develop and own a personal style, focusing on chiaro-scuro and line work, and applying bold gesture onto the paper. On the last evening you'll further one drawing, finishing it by applying all the learned tools. To get the most out of this course, it can be helpful to have taken part to a drop-in session at 4bid gallery on either Tuesdays or Sundays (see the regular meetups). The topic for February is "Transitions" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. SCHEDULE: 10:00 - SESSION 1: quick intros. 10:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour. 11:10 - chat / take off / keep writing. OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 11A-11:30ish. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session.
