Learning to Design Systems for Scalability
Learning to Design Systems for Scalability
**Register here (subject to approval):** **[https://luma.com/mu4wsv8t](https://luma.com/mu4wsv8t)** *This is an in-person event. Successful Registration is subject to approval.* **ABOUT** **In association with [Women's Dev Singapore](https://www.meetup.com/women-devs-sg/), [Zenika](https://www.linkedin.com/company/zenikasingapore/) presents A Practitioner’s Perspective:** Scalability is often treated as a purely technical challenge — something to solve with the right architecture, tools, or infrastructure. In reality, it is just as much about how we think. In this talk, \*\*[Fion ](https://www.linkedin.com/in/fion-sim-8427741b0/)\*\*shares her journey of learning to design for scalability through real-world experience — navigating evolving requirements, growing systems, and the trade-offs that come with them. Rather than focusing on deep technical patterns, the session explores the decision-making process behind building systems that can grow sustainably. Through practical examples, she will reflect on: * How to recognise when scalability becomes a concern * Balancing simplicity vs. future-proofing * Breaking down systems into manageable, evolvable components * Learning from constraints, failures, and iteration This session is designed for developers who are early to mid in their journey, or anyone looking to strengthen their intuition around building systems that don’t just work today — but continue to work as they scale. **About the Speaker - [Fion Sim](https://www.linkedin.com/in/fion-sim-8427741b0/):** Fion is a fullstack web developer focused on building robust, scalable applications across the modern web stack. She has hands-on experience with frontend frameworks such as Next.js and Angular, and develops backend microservices using Node.js and Prisma. Driven by curiosity and continuous learning, Fion is particularly interested in how systems evolve over time — and how thoughtful design decisions can support long-term scalability and maintainability. 📍 **Venue:** This meetup is brought to you by Zenika Singapore, 20 Bendemeer Rd, #03-10 BS Bendemeer Centre, Singapore 339914. **NOTE: Successful Registration is subject to approval. Sign up here:** https://luma.com/mu4wsv8t **EVENT SCHEDULE:** **6:30 PM - 6:45 PM:** Registration + Networking **6:45 PM to 6:55 PM:** Intro to WDS **7:00 PM to 7:10 PM:** Intro to Zenika **7:15 PM to 8:15 PM:** Learning to Design Systems for Scalability by Fion Sim, Zenika + Q&A **8:15 PM onwards:** Networking + Phototaking **TERMS & CONDITIONS** * Zenika Singapore reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. * Although very unlikely, please note that Zenika Singapore reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the event if necessary. BJJ Group Class (All Levels)
BJJ Group Class (All Levels)
These classes are perfect for anyone looking to grasp a general understanding of “ground fighting” while discovering Submission Grappling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. BJJ focuses on using proper technique, leverage, and most notably, taking the fight to the ground, and then applying joint-locks and chokeholds to defeat the opponent. Since Brazilian JiuJitsu focuses on submissions without the use of striking, BJJ is for everyone of all ages and abilities! Training BJJ at Tiger allows you to focus on learning the many different positions, techniques, and skills required to become successful in this extremely popular martial art. In the Gi classes, participants are required to wear the traditional BJJ uniform called a “Gi”. Techniques in this class are taught in the traditional methods of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, in which the use of a gi is necessary. It is often agreed upon by the highest ranking grapplers and BJJ practitioners in the world that practicing BJJ while using the Gi is an essential part of becoming an elite level grappler. While practicing BJJ while using the gi, the student can then achieve a “belt ranking”. The color of one’s belt reflects their level of skill in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. ### **Booking Information** * Please contact **98225900** to find out how to book this class. * The instructor will reach out to you once you've booked the class ### **Cancellation Policy** Credits will be considered used if class is cancelled within 24 hours before the start of the lesson

Hike Chestnut Ridge
Hike Chestnut Ridge
We will hike the Ridge Trail and Meadows Trail twice, for a total of 3.8 miles. There are some pretty good inclines so plan on getting a cardio workout :). This is a loop which is pretty easy to follow; thus faster walkers can take the lead and the rest (like me) will bring up the rear at a slightly slower pace. You could also just do the loop once for 1.9 miles. No one left behind. Optional lunch to follow in Canal Winchester. I'm working through the metro parks - this is the third one!
