The Bride Is Much Too Beautiful
The Bride Is Much Too Beautiful
In this delightful comedy, a young independent girl (Brigitte Bardot) from out-of-town is discovered by Judith (Micheline Presle), the editor-in-chief of a women’s magazine. The girl becomes Chouchou, a famous Paris cover girl. During a shoot, she falls in love with Judith’s lover, Michel (Louis Jourdan). He cares for her professionally but he sees her as a child. To excite his jealousy, Chouchou is seen around with a model named Patrice and two photographers named Toni and Marc. Will her strategy work? We'll meet-up in the reception area of the venue about 15:50 and (if attendees wish) go for a quick drink or snack afterwards (at the venue or nearby). It is suggested that members may wish to book a seat in row F or M. I will add a comment when I have booked my seat. 📽️Time Hoppers: The Silk Road
📽️Time Hoppers: The Silk Road
From the futuristic domes of North Greenwich, where the river Thames bends and the popcorn smells are strongest, we’re gathering for an epic screening of **Time Hoppers: The Silk Road**. 🎬 **THE MISSION:** 🎞️ **Film:** Time Hoppers: The Silk Road (rated PG) ⏳ **Runtime:** 1 hour 43 mins 📍 **Location:** Cineworld London - The O2 (Greenwich) 🚇 **Nearest Tube Station**: North Greenwich (Jubilee line) ⌚ **The Meet:** 4:45pm (Outside the cinema entrance) 🎬 **Film Starts:** 5:00pm (Sharp) ✊ **Note:** Active Muslims is equally about focusing on the actual activity. In this case, this is a **highly disciplined cinematic operation**, not a nap in a dark room. It is advised to approach this event with the intention of peak relaxation and the purpose of extreme snack consumption. We expect a "paced" viewing—stay alert for the plot twists and keep the popcorn-to-mouth ratio consistent. ### 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 FAMILY & JUNIOR RECRUITS This event is specifically designed for the next generation! We want to see the **kids, nephews, and nieces** out in full force. Whether they are future time travelers or just there for the Slushies, bring them along to join the crew. ### 🎟️ TICKETS & LOGISTICS No group discounts this time **Price: £5.99 per person.** **[Booking: Please purchase your tickets for the 5:00pm](https://experience.cineworld.co.uk/select-tickets?sitecode=077&site=077&id=281082&lang=en)** showing on Friday, 17th April \**via the Cineworld website/app. Group Booking:* There is no group discount but we can try to ensure we have tickets in the event they may sell out before the date by ordering earlier. I can book earlier if you want me to book for you but it’s virtually impossible to ensure we can all sit in the same block! ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ 🚻**Facilities**: On-site restrooms available in the O2. 🕋 **Prayer**: There is a multi-faith prayer room located opposite the family room on Level 2 should you want to pray before/after the film (asr: 16:52 maghbrib: 20:05). 🎒 **What to bring:** Your "serious" cinema face, a fully charged phone, and enough energy to keep up with the kids. 🍉 **Food**: Cineworld have a strict no externally purchased hot food policy. Technically, you can bring your own snacks (although I would keep it subtle). 🥾 **Footwear:** Hiking boots are *not* recommended (unless you really want to), but comfy socks for those recliner seats are a win. ⛑️ **Disclaimer:** You are solely responsible for your own safety (and your kids' popcorn intake). You are also responsible for your belongings at all times. 🌐 **[@Active.Muslims](https://www.instagram.com/active.muslims) / Active Mindset**

Akira (1988) in 4K at the IMAX - SOLD OUT
Akira (1988) in 4K at the IMAX - SOLD OUT
**This screening is now sold out, so if you couldn't get a ticket, try for one of the other dates. The PCC is showing this too by the way** Akira is a landmark in animation, endlessly influentual both inside and outside Japan. You've probably seen it. A teen biker gang in Neo Tokyo (as it was called after the nuclear blast) get caught up in a secret military project that involves psychics and mutants. Things end up getting really out of hand. I wrote more or less the same intro when I put this on [three years ago](https://www.meetup.com/london-alt-gigs-repertory-film/events/292097241/?eventOrigin=group_calendar), when it was showing in 4K in cinemas for the first time in this country, and guess what: it ruled. The colours, movement and sound are all stunning, and now it's showing in IMAX, essentially a cinematic fairground ride for the senses. Wanna reminder in trailer form? SURE you do: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gPnyUo-OXg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gPnyUo-OXg) We can watch the movie, meet outside and digest it over a drink somewhere nearby afterwards. Hey, it's not like Waterloo is short of pubs.

☠️🌃 ***This is where the cyberpunk era begins… and where Neo-Tokyo is about to E.X.P.L.O.D.E.*** **Hello Everyone**👋 Back in 1988, **Katsuhiro Otomo** predicted what life might look like in 2019 through this landmark cyberpunk classic. I guess we're not far off as the film blends futuristic technology, including artificial intelligence and cyberware, with a society on the brink of collapse, creating a world shaped by dystopia, unrest, and decay. The film is set in dystopian Neo-Tokyo, 31 years after a psychic explosion destroyed the city, and follows teenage biker Kaneda as his friend Tetsuo develops terrifying telekinetic powers after a secret government experiment, triggering a spiral of violence, conspiracy, and destruction. We’ll meet at **Victoria House Wine Bar** for drinks before heading over to the **Prince Charles Cinema (Screen 1)**. I’ll be in **seat F9**, but feel free to sit wherever you like. City Lights (1931)
City Lights (1931)
In *City Lights*, Chaplin's Little Tramp meets a blind girl selling flowers who mistakes him for a wealthy man. When he learns that an operation may restore her sight, he sets off to earn the money she needs to have the surgery. He also befriends an alcoholic millionaire who only recognizes him when he is drunk. When the blind girl and her grandmother fall behind in the rent and face eviction, he tries working and even enters a boxing competition to raise the money they need. Regarded as Chaplin's masterpiece, *City Lights* has been ranked on more than seventeen "100 greatest movies of all time" lists. Orson Welles cited it as his favorite picture. *City Lights* is available for streaming on Amazon Prime, Hulu, HBOMax, Tubi and PlutoTV. The Columbus Library lists three copies on blu-ray and eight copies on DVD. Watch the movie on your own, then join us upstairs at East Market to discuss the film. If you want more, *Unknown Chaplin* is a three-episode lost-footage documentary available on Youtube. It covers his time on *City Lights* beginning at the twenty-six minute mark of episode two: https://youtu.be/f8960Uc15hI?t=1558

Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:20am and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking is available in the surrounding area. Below are some links / attachments with additional info/details: IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain you’ll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1 week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve. Our Partner Agency for this event is Lutheran Social Services! A huge THANK YOU to all of YOU for volunteering at this (and any of our previous) CMG Gives Back events! Should be a good/fun/meaningful time together, Dan
