Social After-Work Bouldering (Casual & Beginner-Friendly)
Social After-Work Bouldering (Casual & Beginner-Friendly)
This is a relaxed after-work bouldering session at **[BlocHaus Bouldering Port Melbourne](https://maps.app.goo.gl/sXoZZVviD4eJY8w89)**, focused on moving, chatting, and unwinding rather than performance or grades. If you’re curious about bouldering, coming back after a break, or just want a low-key way to be active and social on a weekday evening, this one’s for you. No partner required, no pressure to climb hard, and no expectation to already know anyone. We’ll climb at our own pace, take plenty of rest, and socialise between attempts. **Who This Is For** * Beginners or first-timers * Casual climbers who prefer a social pace * Solo joiners who don’t want it to feel intimidating * Anyone who wants to move their body without it feeling like a workout class If you’re an experienced climber, you’re still welcome — just expect a chill, mixed-ability vibe. **Plan** * 6:00 pm — Meet at reception, quick hellos * 6:15 pm — Gentle warm-up & easy climbs * 6:30 pm — Climb at your own pace, rest, and chat between attempts * 8:00 pm — Wind down, stretch, and head off Feel free to arrive later or leave earlier — no rigid structure. **What to Bring** * Change of clothes * Climbing shoes (hire available at the gym) * Entry fee paid individually at the desk * Check out the pricing here: [https://mlb.blochaus.com.au/pricing/](https://mlb.blochaus.com.au/pricing/) **Event Notes** This is not a lesson or coaching session — just a friendly container to climb and socialise together. The goal is to make weekday movement feel easy and welcoming, not intense. **Meeting point:** [BlocHaus Bouldering](https://maps.app.goo.gl/sXoZZVviD4eJY8w89) reception at **6pm**. I’ll post a photo of myself here once I arrive. If you’re running late, please message me your ETA beforehand — once you arrive, I can share our location with you.

The Great Suburban Spin‑Off Bike Ride - Outer circle trail - 30 km
The Great Suburban Spin‑Off Bike Ride - Outer circle trail - 30 km
**🚴‍♂️ Eat Drink Dance Melbourne: The Great Suburban Spin‑Off (Cheeky Edition) 🚴‍♀️** **When** Friday 14 February 10:00am start . Please arrive at 9.45 am **Meet at:** Love Bar, South Wharf (next to the Skyline Ferris Wheel, opposite the Exhibition Centre) **Distance**: ~30km (plus optional coastal chaos) **Finish**: ~2–3pm at Hughesdale Station Melbourne, it’s time to clip in, roll out, and flirt shamelessly with the middle suburbs. Join Eat Drink Dance Melbourne for a social bike ride with big personality — part scenic cruise, part snack‑hunting expedition, part rolling group chat. Zero Lycra‑snobbery, zero racing, maximum fun. **+++Ensure you read the rules at the end before joining. Registering = agreeing to them+++** **🌿 The Adventure** We launch from Love Bar (because of course we do) and glide along the river before sliding onto Swanston Street’s bike paths like a well‑oiled social machine. Then it’s up to Princes Park, onto the Capital City Trail, and across to the leafy charm of Fairfield Boathouse. **Expect**: - 30km of “I swear this is still leisurely” riding - 4–5 hours including snack‑based diplomacy - Café stops, ice‑cream stops, hydration stops, existential‑crisis stops - A pace that encourages conversation, not competition - Views that make you say “wow, Melbourne, you’re actually kinda hot” We then follow the Outer Circle Rail Trail to Hughesdale Station, where the official ride wraps up and the trains whisk you back to the city like the responsible adult you pretend to be. **🌊 Optional Coastal Extension** (For the Bold, the Beautiful, and the Mildly Delusional) If you’re still feeling spicy, you can continue from Hughesdale to Elwood Beach, then cruise the Bayside coastal path back into the city. **Perfect for**: - People who don’t melt in the heat - People who think “just a bit further” is a personality trait - People who want to brag later **✨ Vibe Check** This is classic Eat Drink Dance Melbourne energy: Playful, social, a little chaotic, and very snack‑positive. **Bring**: - A bike that won’t betray you - Water - Snacks - Bike Lock and helmet - Sunscreen - A sense of humour - Your best “I’m absolutely stopping for ice cream” attitude If you want to, you can hire a bike at l [Blue Tongue Bike Rental](https://bluetonguebikes.com.au/) just across the river from where we start. please allow 15 minutes or so to arrange this. Come roll with us, chat with strangers, and see Melbourne from angles you didn’t know existed. **⚠️ Group Rules & Event Etiquette ⚠️** These are basic, commonsense standards that keep events safe, smooth, and enjoyable for everyone. **👟 Fitness Requirements** Riding: 10–15 km/hr We walk/ride at a relaxed pace. Please ensure you meet the fitness level for the event. If the group is forced to wait excessively, you may be asked to leave the event. **⛹️ Pace: Too Fast or Too Slow** Small social events rely on staying together. If you prefer a very different pace, consider going solo, joining a faster/slower group, or choosing events that match your fitness. **👩‍💼 Time Constraints** If you’re on a tight schedule, this may not be the right event. Social activities rarely run exactly on time. **⚠️ CRITICAL EXPECTATIONS ⚠️** **👻 No‑Shows** No‑shows block waitlisted people from attending and disrupt small-group events. - Remove yourself at least 24 hours before the event. - No‑shows will likely be removed and blocked from the group. - Last‑minute cancellations **(“flaking”)** may also result in group removal, especially when there is a waitlist. **👀 Attending Without Being on the Going List** This is a security issue. **Do NOT turn up unannounced**. If you’re not on the Going list and haven’t arranged it with the organiser beforehand, you will be asked to leave. Event check‑ins are performed. **⏰ Late Arrivals** If you’re late, the group will not wait. - You may be marked as a No‑Show and removed from the group. - It’s your responsibility to communicate and catch up—this may not be possible for some events. **🎲 Second Chances** If something goes wrong, communicate with the organiser. Silence + poor behaviour = removal. Communication + accountability = second chances. As the organiser is busy organising this may be impossible during the event. **🚩Disclaimer: No Liability & Organiser Indemnity By participating in this event, you acknowledge and accept full personal responsibility for your own safety, wellbeing, and belongings. The organiser assumes no liability for injury, loss, or damage incurred during the activity. Participation is entirely at your own risk.**

Yarraman to Chadstone loop (43Km 300m ele Beginner+ level)
Yarraman to Chadstone loop (43Km 300m ele Beginner+ level)
Hi, Join us for a casual ride out from Yarraman station and head North West on the Djerring Trail up to Hughesdale. Here we will jump on the ANT for a few km North to East Malvern where we will head East on the Scotchman's Trail (This is mostly bike paths but there are a few sections that are on quiet back roads). We will travel along this until we hit the Dandy Creek Trail at Jell's Park, then head South on the DCR/ELT and back into Yarraman. We will pass by Code 5 Cafe at 30Km where we can stop for refreshments! Distance is getting up but its a pretty flat ride so have kept it as a beginner+ ride See the RWGPS map here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/53922999 If people feel like it on the day, We could extend the route by finishing with a loop around the other side of Dandenong on the Dandy Creek Trail instead of the shorter more direct Eastlink Trail. This would make for a 54Km ride! https://ridewithgps.com/routes/53923985 We will kick off from Yarraman Railway Station @ 9.00am. I'll be on a black Giant gravel bike. See pin here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/VnG5eidu4QSKMJ2F7 **There is a train from the CBD that arrives at 8.52am (departs Town Hall 8.13am Pakenham line) providing there are no disruptions nearer the time!** At the moment the forecast looks good, Sunny and highs of 23 degrees! Hopefully see you all there for a lovely morning out! **Please, no photograph's of group members unless you have been given permission by the members involved.** **YOUR BIKE** Suitable for any well maintained bike (99% paved) **Note: End time is a guesstimate only** **ESSENTIAL ITEMS** Spare tube, puncture kit, pump, basic tools - good to have with you. Rain & warm gear (according to conditions) Plenty of water for the distance especially if it's going to be hot! Always better to have too much than enough! Check your app for any changes the night before, and on the day of the ride, as the ride may be cancelled in the event of extreme weather or other unforeseen circumstances. **If you realise you cannot make it to the ride please change your RSVP to 'NO' immediately even if you are still on the Waitlist.** "Liability Waiver: The organizer of this group cannot accept any liability for any loss, damage, injury, or accident to participants or their property at this event. By participating in this event, you're taking responsibility for your safety and well-being. By joining this event, you agree to this liability waiver." Saturday Arvo Brighton Fish and Chips with Elwood swim. Easy Social.
Saturday Arvo Brighton Fish and Chips. 13 km. Easy Social. It’s Valentine’s Day so bring your beau along for a surprise. We’ll meet at ‘Time Out’, Fed Square, for a chilled Mocktail at 4pm, then departing along the new segregated bike lane along leafy well shaded St Kilda Road. We’ll get on to the Fitzroy Street St Kilda segregated trail via the pedestrian underpass, then the Bayside trail. Remember to bring your bathers if the weather is hot and we’ll stop at Elwood Beach for a quick refreshing dip. Some streets through to St. Andrews Church where there is a public eating area. The Tank, Fish and Chips is nearby. After dinner, the ride tends to fragment with many riders choosing to return via the train from Middle Brighton Station. However, if the day has been hot then returning via the Bayside trail to Port Melbourne Trail then Jeffs Shed is very pleasant. What to bring: If the weather is hot then bring plenty of water, electrolytes and bathers. Also bike lights because it may be getting dark as you head home, however, this is a social ride so that’s probably about it. Intro to Shaders in Unity
Intro to Shaders in Unity
This meetup is a beginner-friendly, hands-on workshop focused on building shaders in Unity using Shader Graph. Instead of slides or theory-heavy lectures, we'll build real shaders together step-by-step. The format is structured but interactive. You'll watch a quick demo, then build each shader yourself with guidance. By the end, you'll have created multiple shaders you can immediately use in your own projects—and understand how to make more. **What to Expect:** * Build 4–5 complete shaders from scratch * Color tints, snow accumulation, scrolling water, dissolve effects, and more * No prior shader experience required * Checkpoint files provided if you fall behind * Resources for continued learning All experience levels are welcome. Whether you've never opened Shader Graph or just want to fill gaps in your knowledge, this is a supportive space to learn by doing. **Food and drinks provided. Join us to learn, build, and level up your shader skills.**

(I'm told though that if you eat at Milo's Deli next door to this lot that Milo's will stamp your parking so it's free.) * You're going to see odd signs on [Lucas St](https://www.google.com/maps/place/39%C2%B057'26.1%22N+83%C2%B000'40.3%22W/@39.957256,-83.0124134,19z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m10!1m5!3m4!2zMznCsDU3JzI4LjgiTiA4M8KwMDAnNDEuNSJX!8m2!3d39.957993!4d-83.011536!3m3!8m2!3d39.957256!4d-83.011197?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI2MDEyMS4wIKXMDSoKLDEwMDc5MjA3MUgBUAM%3D) (saying it's a "private street") that will lead you to believe you're not allowed to park there, but you actually are. * Columbus parking cops literally do not work on Sundays. This means that, even if you're driving a non-EV, you can park in the EV spots near the brewery. **Games** I do bring many games, but please bring some of your own as well.
