Melbourne Docker User Group: Faster Apps, Safer Code
🐳
Join us for the next Melbourne Docker User Group on April 14th at Microsoft. Container technology is now used by 92% of technology workers. However, there is always more to learn.
We have three great talks to share.
First, **Kirtika Sharma** ([LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/in/kirtikasharma05/)) will teach **Docker 101**. She is a Junior Technical Engineer at Orikan. This talk is perfect for students and beginners. Often, a program works on one computer but fails on another. Kirtika will explain how Docker fixes this problem. She will use simple words and show a live demo of Docker running software instantly.
Second, **Sumith Azhi Valappil (**[LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/in/sumith-cloudsecurityconsulting/)**)** will talk about security. He has 18 years of IT experience. Research shows that many younger workers feel confident but lack specific security skills. Sumith will show you how to scan your code to find problems early. He will also show how to catch active attacks inside your systems.
Third, **Sree Ram Boyapati (**[LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/in/sreeram-dev/)**)** will talk about self-fixing programs. He is a Senior Software Engineer at Suncorp. Sree will show how to use Docker to test large systems on your own computer. Docker is the best tool for building and testing software locally. Using Docker locally means you do not have to pay for expensive cloud servers.
First-time speakers are always welcome. We want you to share your story. You do not need to be an expert.
* Beginners: Share a simple project or something you just learned.
* Pros: Show us complex systems or security tips.
Submit your talk here 👉 [https://sessionize.com/melbourne-docker-user-group/](https://sessionize.com/melbourne-docker-user-group/)
Join us at the Melbourne Docker User Group for a night of learning and sharing. Dive into the world of artificial intelligence programming and learn how to enhance your projects using Docker. Explore topics such as AI engineering and containers.
Whether you are a beginner or an expert, this event is perfect for anyone interested in cloud native technologies and cutting-edge applications. Don't miss this opportunity to network with like-minded professionals and elevate your skills in the world of AI and containers.
Freelancers/Entrepreneurs/Self-Employed Networking Night
Do you run your own business or work for yourself and wish that you had a community of like-minded women who share the same experiences as you? If so, join us for a freelancers/entrepreneurs/self-employed networking dinner where we can share our stories.
Entrepreneurship and self-employment can be a lonely journey. We go through unique things and experiences, and our ups and downs can feel a lot more intense. But there's no reason why we need to go through this experience alone, when we have a community of women who have experienced what you have, and might even be able to point you in the right direction.
It doesn't matter if you're a startup founder, a self-employed designer, or a part-time freelance consultant; anyone and everyone who runs a business is welcome.
How to Add $300–$700pw Rental Income Without Subdividing
Victoria just changed the rules — and most investors haven’t caught up.
You can now add a second dwelling (“granny flat”) on many 300m²+ blocks without a planning permit — and legally rent it out.
That’s a major shift.
And for **[investors looking to increase cashflow](https://events.resultsmentoring.com/meetup-vic.html?utm_source=meetup&utm_campaign=drn)** without taking on large-scale development risk, this could be one of the most practical opportunities right now.
What you’ll learn...
➡️ How the new VIC rules actually work (and where they don’t apply)
➡️ What it really costs to build a granny flat — and what it can return
➡️ How to assess if your property is suitable
➡️ The biggest mistakes investors make (and how to avoid them)
➡️ A clear pathway from idea → construction → rental income
**Featured Speaker: Farah Drake**
Farah Drake is a Melbourne-based building professional with nearly 30 years of industry experience, combining strong business qualifications with hands-on expertise in construction and project management.
A registered Domestic Building Unlimited license holder, she specialises in relocatable homes and granny flats, and has built a reputation as a trusted authority in backyard living solutions, known for her practical knowledge, professionalism, and commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
**[RSVP now to attend FREE in-person or via Zoom:](https://events.resultsmentoring.com/meetup-vic.html?utm_source=meetup&utm_campaign=drn)**
➡️ You want to boost rental income from an existing property
➡️ You’re looking for a lower-cost development strategy
➡️ You want to understand if granny flats stack up in today’s market
➡️ You’ve heard about the rule changes but don’t know how to use them
These rule changes are still new — early movers will have the advantage.
Limited capacity for in-person attendance.
**FAQ's**

Cloud Networking Events This Week
Discover what is happening in the next few days
Women in Cloud - Data meets AI
We’re excited to bring our community together again — this time with a focus on **data and AI**.
This event will start with a deep dive into how modern organisations turn raw data into meaningful insights — covering the full data journey from collection to decision-making & cloud solutions that enable it.
We’ll then shift into the world of AI, exploring how cloud-powered solutions can go beyond automation to build systems that truly listen, understand, and create real human impact.
Whether you’re working with data, curious about AI, or somewhere in between, this evening is designed to give you practical perspectives from both sides.
**Topics**
**1\. Turning Data into Decisions: The End\-to\-End Data Journey**
Modern digital products generate large volumes of data through user actions, system events, and integrations. This talk explores the end-to-end data lifecycle — from event tracking and data pipelines to storage in cloud platforms.
Anlita will cover how raw data is cleaned, organised, and modelled into structured, analytics-ready datasets, and how cloud features like scalable storage and distributed processing help manage growing data efficiently. By connecting data flows to business use cases, the session shows how organisations turn everyday data into reliable metrics, dashboards, and actionable insights.
**About the speaker**
[Anlita Chaisrisukumporn](https://www.linkedin.com/in/anlita-chaisrisukumporn-174690183/) is a Lead Data Analyst in the Platform team at [Easygo](https://easygo.io/). She works closely with business, product, and engineering teams to deliver meaningful data insights that support operational and strategic decision-making. Her work focuses on strengthening the data platform and enabling teams across the organisation to better understand product performance and drive business improvements through data.
**2\. Cloud with Compassion \- Agentic voice AI which truely listens**
What if AI could do more than automate tasks — what if it could truly care? In this session, Vanitha will take you on a journey of building a Voice Agentic AI solution on AWS that goes beyond technology — it listens, it understands, and it acts when it matters most.
A solution born not just from engineering, but from empathy.
Come discover how cloud technology, when built with compassion, can become a lifeline for those who need it most.
**About the speaker**
[Vanitha Kaliyaperumal](https://www.linkedin.com/in/vanitha-kaliyaperumal/) is a Lead Engineer at [Versent](https://versent.com.au/) with over 25 years of IT experience across Telecommunications, Resources, Banking and Software industries. Connected Westerville Night of Networking!
**Connected Westerville Night of Networking** *April Edition: The Introduction Economy*
You've been to the networking events. You've done the small talk. Collected the cards. Forgotten the names. And walked out feeling like you just wasted two hours of your life.
The problem isn't you. It's the format.
Most networking events put you in a room and tell you to figure it out. So everyone defaults to elevator pitches and business talk, and nothing real gets built.
Here's the truth about networking that most people miss: Your network isn't just who you know. It's who thinks of you when they're talking to someone else.
*That's* The Introduction Economy. And it only works when relationships are real.
There's a reason people who come once keep coming back. It starts with seven minutes that feel nothing like networking.
Then we open it up. Free networking. More conversations. More momentum.
This is a room full of corporate professionals, entrepreneurs, business owners, creatives, and career builders in the Westerville and Columbus area. The mix is the magic.
You might never do business with everyone you meet tonight. But someone in this room will think of *you.* **By name**. So, the next time someone needs exactly what you do, you get the recommendation.
**April 14th. RSVP now.**
**When:** Tuesday\, April 14th \| 6:15 PM \-\- 8:00 PM **Where:** Vineyard Community Center \| 6000 Cooper Rd\, Westerville\, OH 43081

What If Your AI Could Be a Team? - Chad Green
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you.
The building address is 4450 Bridge Park
The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400
You will need to scan your ID at the door to get a visitor badge.
**Abstract**
GitHub Copilot is powerful, but what if you could scale from a solo AI assistant to an entire team of specialized agents working in parallel? This session introduces Squad: an open-source framework for multi-agent orchestration that lets you define teams of AI agents with specific roles, responsibilities, and expertise.
We'll progress from Copilot basics to the Copilot CLI, explore how Agents add autonomy, and see how Instructions and Skills let you customize agent behavior. Then, the climax: a live demo where a Squad team of 3 agents (Lead, Developer, Tester) stands up and builds a working application in real-time, showcasing true multi-agent collaboration.
Whether you're new to AI or exploring how to scale your use of Copilot, this session will show you what's possible when agents work as a team.
