Welcome to our next community MeetUp! The pace of change in software delivery isn’t slowing down—and neither are we. For our upcoming MeetUp, we’re once again bringing together Berlin’s engineers, architects, and tech leaders to explore the move from classic automation to Agentic AI and intelligent cloud workflows. 18:00 - Welcome & Networking 18:30 - Short Introduction & First Talk 19:15 - Break with food & drinks 19:45 - Second Talk 20:30 - More Networking & cold drinks Here's a quick intro to our speakers and what they'll be talking about: **Speaker:** Alberto Miorin and Valery Lavrentiev – Staff engineers (https://www.linkedin.com/in/albertomiorin/ and https://www.linkedin.com/in/valery-lavrentiev-5467782/) **Talk:** BigConfig: The First Agentic Package Manager In this talk, Alberto and Valery introduce BigConfig, an open‑source Clojure/Babashka infrastructure package manager built for agentic workflows. The session shows why higher-level, composable packages are needed instead of raw Terraform, Ansible, Helm, or YAML. It also demonstrates how natural-language plans are turned into auditable bb.edn configurations and deployable infrastructure packages. Alberto is a Berlin-based engineer with a background in DevOps, Data, and AI. He previously helped scale the data platforms at Zalando and OneFootball. Valery Lavrentiev is a Berlin-based AI/ML engineer who played a key role in building the OneFootball personalization engine. **Speaker:** Saeid Mirzaeiaraghi - Senior Software Engineer at Cluster Reply (https://www.linkedin.com/in/saeid-mirzaei/) **Title:** Agentic Documentation with GitHub Copilot Learn how GitHub Copilot transforms codebases into living documentation using AI-driven workflows for architecture, APIs, and onboarding. Mixed Friendly Football @ Mauerpark - Lousy & Lazy
Mixed Friendly Football @ Mauerpark - Lousy & Lazy
Do you like to play football - but relaxed and not with competitive or aggressive players? Are you a bit lazy, a bit old, a bit unfit or not so talented? Then Lousy & Lazy Football is the right thing for you! We are a group of friendly people who just want to have a relaxed kick. All genders, ages (+18) and nationalities welcome. Feel free to join the waitlist even if it seems long - sometimes we make the event larger and play on two pitches (24 players, four teams) or even three pitches (36 players, six teams), depending on demand. Note: We do not allow high-studded football boots during our sessions. To avoid injuries, we only play with "Multinocken" (multistuds) or shorter. Please have a look here: [link](https://www.11teamsports.com/de-de/fussballschuhe/multinocken/). Lousy & Lazy rules: 1. **Don’t be competitive - fun only! Enjoy the workout, nice people, wonderful weather and magic ball moments** 2. **No emotional shouting, no telling other players where to go and what to do** 3. **No hard tackling/sliding** 4. **Avoid injuring yourself and other players at all costs: Tight situation? Give up the ball rather them going all in** 5. **Support less fit and less skilled players by giving them the time and space to play the ball, don't intercept passes to and from them. Bonus points: Make them shine!** 6. **Don’t dribble past multiple players (trying to take on one player is fine)** 7. **Don’t close down the defenders too quickly. Give the team a chance to play the ball out.** 8. **Rotate the goalkeeper** 9. **Be a teamplayer** 10. **Come regularly and be reliable with your RSVPs**

Designing APIs & Building Contextual Chatbots | Data Engineering Meetup
Two talks. One evening. Plenty of ideas to take home. We’re ready to kick things off for another Berlin Meetup, and are happy to present the speakers of the evening: **[Jens Wriske](https://www.linkedin.com/in/jens-wriske-8b538a397/):** ***"Designing APIs on top of Data Platforms using Databricks"*** Modern data platforms increasingly follow a lakehouse architecture, where data remains owned and governed by domain teams rather than application developers. This session explores how APIs can be designed on top of Azure Databricks to provide access to heterogeneous data sources without duplicating or owning the underlying storage layer. **[Tanuj Jain](https://www.linkedin.com/in/tanuj-jain-10/): *"The Story Behind the Story: "Building a Contextual News Chatbot."*** Most news readers lack the background to fully engage with the stories they encounter. This talk walks through the development of a chatbot embedded in a news article page for a German news publisher, designed to give readers on-demand context about what they're reading. We share the key technical and product decisions made along the way, and what we learned about building an AI feature that sits at the intersection of editorial and user experience. ✧ ✧ ✧ **What to expect:** * Two expert talks and Q&A * Networking opportunities in our great Creator Space * Some snacks & drinks to fuel your thoughts : ) ✧ ✧ ✧ **Timetable:** * 18:30 - Event admission * 18:50 - Welcome & Introduction * 19:00 - Jens Wriske: *"Designing APIs on top of Data Platforms using Databricks"* * 19:30 - 5 minutes break * 19:35 - Tanuj Jain: *"The Story Behind the Story: Building a Contextual News Chatbot"* * 20:05 - Snacks, Drinks & Networking * 21:30 - End ✧ ✧ ✧ More on the **-> [applydata data engineering meetup page](https://applydata.io/data-engineering-meetup/)**. **Our goal is to form a local data-loving community, so join us and let's talk data together!** ✧ ✧ ✧ *At the event, sound, image and video recordings are created and published for documentation purposes as well as for the presentation of the event in publicly accessible media, on websites and blogs and for presentation on social media. Bring your laptop! The session will last around 2 hours, followed by a networking session with dida and fellow AI enthusiasts (and free pizza!🍕). Bring your laptop! **Abstract:** Nearly every cancer diagnosis still begins with a pathologist examining a stained tissue slide under a microscope. Digital pathology turns those slides into gigapixel images — and with them, a uniquely demanding frontier for machine learning. But getting from raw pixels to clinically meaningful, quantitative insight about a tumor and its microenvironment is far from trivial. In this workshop, Aignostics — a computational pathology company and Charité spin-off — walks you along the arc from core ML research to real-world application. We start with an overview of digital pathology and what makes it challenging for ML (gigapixel images, scarce labels, scanner and staining variability). We then look at how pathology foundation models are built and what separates a good one from a fragile one — not just accuracy, but robustness to non-biological artifacts — with a short hands-on segment. Finally, we put these models to work: with Atlas H&E-TME we profile the tumor microenvironment from routine H&E slides, and you'll get hands-on with OpenTME — an open dataset of TME profiles across five cancer types from TCGA — and TME Studio to run your own analyses. **⚡ FINAL REMINDER ⚡** **You MUST register and be approved on Luma to attend. AI Agents 101: How to Make ChatGPT Do Actual Work
AI Agents 101: How to Make ChatGPT Do Actual Work
Most people still use AI like a search box: type one question, get one answer, repeat. But the next step is AI agents: systems that can take a goal, break it into steps, use tools, remember context, and produce useful work for a human to review. In this beginner-friendly session, we’ll demystify what AI agents actually are — without hype or jargon. We’ll walk through practical examples of how agents can help with research, planning, writing, coding, operations, and personal productivity. We’ll cover: * What makes an AI “agent” instead of just a chatbot * How agents break tasks into steps * Where agents are genuinely useful today * Where they fail, hallucinate, or need human review * How to design simple AI workflows for your own work * A live demo of an AI agent-style workflow from start to finish No coding experience required. This is for anyone who wants to understand where AI tools are going and how to use them more effectively right now. LOGISTICS AND PARKING: The talk starts at 7:00 PM. The first half hour is reserved for everyone to get set up and mingle. Free pizza and drinks! The cheapest parking option is to find street parking, which will only cost you a few bucks. Otherwise, park in the nearby veteran's museum lot for $8. It's highly recommended you avoid the nearby $15 garage parking.
