BLISS x juna.ai Workshop: Open-Ended Algorithm Discovery with LLMs
BLISS x juna.ai Workshop: Open-Ended Algorithm Discovery with LLMs
**⚠️ IMPORTANT: REGISTRATION MANDATORY ⚠️** Registration on **Luma** is **REQUIRED** to attend this event. **Link: https://luma.com/7zfk3orp?utm_source=meetup** Your registration is subject to host approval. You must complete the registration process on lu.ma to receive the full event location details and confirmation of your attendance. **Please note: Without approved registration on Luma, you will NOT be able to access the event location or attend.** We are excited to host a **BLISS x juna.ai workshop** featuring **Dr. Nima Siboni (senior RL Engineer)**, who will guide us through an interactive session on algorithm discovery with LLMs. ** Title: The Heuristic Scientist: Open-Ended Algorithm Discovery with LLMs** **📅 Date: 03.06.2026** **🕕 Time: 18:00** 📍 Location: TU Berlin Marchstrasse 23 [Room 0.011] The session will last around 2 hours, followed by a networking session with juna.ai and fellow AI enthusiasts (and free pizza!🍕). Bring your laptop! **Abstract:** Large language models are increasingly useful not only for writing code, but for exploring the space of possible algorithms. In this hands-on workshop, we will look at how LLMs can act as “heuristic scientists”: generating candidate strategies, turning ideas into executable code, testing them against concrete objectives, and refining them through feedback. The workshop centers on the general discovery loop behind LLM-assisted heuristic generation. Participants will learn how to structure problems for algorithm discovery, prompt models to propose interpretable heuristics, evaluate those heuristics with simulations or benchmarks, and use the results to guide further search. We will also discuss when simple prompting is enough, when training or fine-tuning may help, and how to keep generated heuristics understandable, testable, and auditable. By the end of the session, participants will have built a small discovery loop of their own and will understand the practical trade-offs involved in using LLMs for open-ended algorithm discovery: creativity versus control, exploration versus verification, and automation versus human judgment. **⚡ FINAL REMINDER ⚡** **You MUST register and be approved on Luma to attend. The event location will only be visible after your registration is confirmed by the host. Moody Comedy Showcase
Moody Comedy Showcase
The Moody Comedy Show is an interactive stand-up experience where the audience sets the tone! Just like in life, we all have different moods—happy, angry, excited, or maybe just “meh”—and comedians are no different. Each performer will embrace their mood on stage, delivering jokes that match their vibe, whether they’re feeling upbeat, frustrated, or existential. But that’s not all—you get to join in too! Audience members will write down their mood, and we’ll pull from a hat, riffing on your emotions in real-time. It’s a comedy show that evolves with the energy in the room https://www.eventbrite.de/e/moody-comedy-showcase-tickets-1276031276899?aff=oddtdtcreator

From APIs to Agents: Control, Identity, and What Breaks Along the Way
Riverty Tech Night in collaboration with KI Park and cloud ahead Most of what we've built over the last \~15–20 years assumes a static frame of reference: Apps talk to services over APIs. You know who's calling what, you can stick a gateway in front of it, apply some policy, and move on. Agents don't really fit that model. They don't just call an API and return. They decide what to do, call a tool, look at the result, call something else, maybe involve another agent, loop through an LLM a few times… all the while, doing onbehalf of the user, with permissions that aren't always obvious. It's not always clear who is actually doing something. It's not obvious what the full execution path looks like. And the access control models we're used to — user → service, service → service fall part. We'll dig into what actually breaks when you start wiring agents into real systems, especially around identity and access control. Things like: \- how \(or if\) you assign identity to an agent \- what it means for an agent to act "on behalf of" someone \- how you enforce policy when the flow isn't predefined \- and how you get any kind of visibility into what just happened We'll also look at some of the patterns starting to emerge: agents talking to other agents, tools being invoked dynamically, and why a mediation layer (ie, agentgateway) must be built from the ground up with this in mind. \-\-\-\-\-\- Speaker \-\-\-\-\-\- Christian Posta ([Solo.io](http://solo.io/)) Christian is a globally recognized expert in cloud-native architecture, service mesh, and distributed systems. PBerg engineers - monthly meetup
PBerg engineers - monthly meetup
**This is 100% non-profit. The 15€ sign up fee for everyone is only to minimize last-minute cancellations. The total sum goes to a bar-tap that everyone can use to order drinks until the amount is used up. ‼️NO REFUNDS‼️** **‼️Please don't just show up without RSVPing here and paying the 15€. We have a separate room that has limited capacity and a specific drinks agreement with the bar - so splitting up the bill won't become a mess.‼️** **Small update on how your money get's used from May 2024 onwards:** As of this month, meetup.com has started charging me 34€ instead of 16€ per month. I've decided to distribute this fee evenly among all us participants every month. Example: In the last 12 meetups, the average number of attendees was 17. With 17 attendees I would effectively collect 230€ (after fees). I would now substract 34€ leaving us with 196€ that go to the bar. 15% get's tipped to the wait staff, in this case 30€, leaving us with 166€ effectively to order drinks. Hope everyone is cool with this system. :) Website: https://www.pberg-engineers.me WhatsApp groups: Please come and join us on WhatsApp! \- "PBerg Engineers \- NEWS" \- Only organizers can post announcements or polls \-\> https://chat\.whatsapp\.com/EqMJMmlCZO6LOOfAoG4yTj \- "PBerg Engineers \- DISCUSS" \- Everyone can post \-\> https://chat\.whatsapp\.com/LPuo76J83gF6IZMLUcM4u2 Please join those groups now if you're interested. :) All skill/education-levels welcome! :) Lightning Talks: \- TBD We'll also have a brief "Jobs: Lost & Found section". **Location:** From the street you will have to enter the right hand Cafe Chagall (yes, there are 2). Then, you go upstairs and our private room is in the far end corner of the building. We are a relaxed, non-formal meetup of like-minded software engineers who want to always keep learning and want to meet in physical reality over a drink or two. Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin is home to some of the most talented software engineers in the world, and every month, they come together for an exciting knowledge sharing meetup. Art Social
Art Social
An opening of an art exhibition is a nice occasion to catch up and hang out. No agenda, just art, wine and chat. *** KIT Berlin ([@kitstudioartspace](https://www.instagram.com/kitstudioartspace)) invites you to an exhibition of paintings by Wiola Stankiewicz [@wiola_stankiewicz](https://www.instagram.com/wiola_stankiewicz/) “Now it Makes Sense, Isn’t It?” and a musical performance by Antonio Bastos [@antonio__bastos](https://www.instagram.com/antonio__bastos/) Now It Makes Sense, Isn’t It? continues the “Emotional Algorithm” project — a series of paintings built from intuitively selected screenshots, private photographs, and images found online. The images are combined like an emotional bajaderka (a Polish layered dessert traditionally made from mixed leftovers, fragments, and combined remains) — sometimes through color, contrast, or an unexplainable feeling that they simply belong together. The works explore screen aesthetics and digital ways of perceiving images. Meaning often appears only later. And sometimes not at all. Wiola Stankiewicz is a visual artist born in Elbląg, Poland, currently living and working in Coimbra, Portugal. Her practice focuses on painting, collage, and assemblage, using mixed media techniques and experimental material processes. Working with icons of popular culture, landscapes, found images, and photographs from her personal archive, Stankiewicz builds a coherent and autonomous visual language based on intuition and process. Her works function as images of an open character, in which meaning emerges from the relationships between image, material, and gesture. Antonio Bastos turns vulnerability into stage, community into sound and instinct into creation. From electronics to tradition, from improvised lyrics to shared movement, his music is born live and unfolds into a visual, emotional experience. With dozens of releases and festival shows, he was awarded People’s Choice at the IPMA (USA), blending performance with community creation — involving choirs, schools and local groups of all ages. Each concert is a seed sown in the territory, where the audience also becomes creator.

Drunken Philosophy: Are you really who you think you are? What is the "self"?
Drunken Philosophy: Are you really who you think you are? What is the "self"?
I have been studying the question of "self" online with Prof. Ellie Anderson and so I thought a prompt on the "self" might be interesting. Full confession: I had Claude create this prompt and I like it, so here goes: Imagine a thought experiment that merges two classic puzzles: > You undergo a procedure, performed neuron by neuron, in which every biological component of your brain is replaced with a functionally identical synthetic substitute. At each step, your behavior, memories, and personality remain unchanged. When the last neuron is swapped, is the consciousness experiencing the world still you? And — more pressingly — was there ever a continuous "you" to begin with? ### Questions to Wrestle With * If consciousness is purely physical, does the *gradual* nature of the replacement matter, or is it equivalent to being destroyed and rebuilt? * Could there be a "self" without continuity of experience — even moment to moment, while you sleep? On a more practical level, consider the simpler case first: **hemispherectomy** patients — people who have had an entire cerebral hemisphere surgically removed — often retain a strong sense of personal identity and continuity. This suggests "you" are not rigidly tied to specific physical material. But does that vindicate the synthetic neuron case, or merely show that identity is more *flexible* than we thought — not that it can survive *complete* substrate replacement? I used Claude so I could get this out today and let everyone have some time to consider it. Hope to see you at the Oracle. Sorry about the location change two weeks ago. That's what I get for trusting local weather predictions!

Columbus Comedy Improv Meetup at Gresso's!
Columbus Comedy Improv Meetup at Gresso's!
Whether you've never done improv before, or you've done it for so long you knew Del Close on a personal level, or anywhere in between, come join us! Swing by *Gresso's* for the **Columbus Improv Comedy Meetup** for some fun and games! The idea behind improv is to create entire scenes from scratch based on a suggestion from the audience. This can be done in game form, like *Whose Line Is It Anyway*, *ComedySportz*, or *Wild 'n Out*; it could also be done to tell stories, like *Middleditch and Schwartz*. Our meetup, which is central Ohio's longest running (and free!) weekly comedy event, brings the games (and occasionally different forms) for you to play in a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment. Not only is it a lot of fun, but you get to work on thinking faster on your feet, plus it's an excellent way to meet new people and make friendships that'll last a lifetime! Ask yourself if you want to join the **Columbus Improv Comedy Meetup**, and say "Yes, And" that you'll have fun!

Summer Flex Season
Summer Flex Season
**How does a TennisColumbus Season / League run?** The league advertises the season dates and builds a queue of committed players for the season. **Kickoff Day - June 10th** The start day of the season, players are sent a kickoff email that contains important information about the league, the link where your league standings and players contact information. We guarantee 6 playing partners at your playing level, but have been averaging closer to 15+ partners in most cities. The number of different levels we run is solely based upon the number of players enrolled for the league kickoff. Typically we are running a Skilled-3.0, Competitive-3.5 and Advanced-4.0 in most cities. **Your Task - "Flexible Scheduling"** After this kickoff email is sent, it is the **player's task to communicate with other players**. Players should work with their partners to find an agreeable time and location to play the match. While TennisColumbus doesn't mandate your playing schedule, it is recommended that players schedule at least one match per week. By request of the players, we started to allow players to play 1 rematch per season. The regular season is all about playing as much as you can. As of Feb. 10, 2026 we've had an amazing 2,017 players play more than [20 matches in a season](https://www.tenniscolumbus.com/info/MatchesInSeason). **Where to Play?** Play at your local free tennis courts, tennis parks, condo courts or tennis clubs. The league strongly suggests that players jointly try to pick a tennis court location convenient to both. We provide an extensive list of [tennis courts](https://www.tenniscolumbus.com/TennisCourts), including # of courts, lighting, hitting walls, etc. We strive to keep this list up-to-date. TennisColumbus sets up a must play dates to push players out on the courts. The final deadline is the date marking the end of the season, at which point players with 3-5 wins (Actually total is specified on the division page) will qualify for a post-season playoff to determine the league champion. **How to Play?** Players can use three mostly standard playing formats: 2 out of 3 sets, 2 sets with 10 point super tie-breaker or the 10-game pro set (First to 10, used when court time is limited). On Feb. 2018, we added Fast Tennis 4 game pro set format as a valid format. **Playoffs** Each season concludes with a playoffs where players with anywhere from 3 to 5 season wins qualifies for a single elimination tourney. The champion is awarded based upon the league [Prize Pool](https://www.tenniscolumbus.com/info/prize_pool3). Each singles league champion also receives a playing entry into one of two national championships we run. **[JOIN TODAY](https://www.tenniscolumbus.com/join)** Full price is $39.95 to play in a season. The earlier you sign up we typically offer discounts during these tough economic times. Just go to the [Join Page](https://www.tenniscolumbus.com/join) and complete the short form. We'd be happy to find you dedicated tennis playing partners.
