We’re launching the Critical Futures Collective with Martin Heidegger’s *The Question Concerning Technology* — a short but profoundly influential essay that asks what technology *really* is beyond devices, apps, and machines. Heidegger argues that modern technology doesn’t just change the world around us; it changes how the world is revealed to us, and in turn how we understand ourselves. It’s a dense, provocative text that lays the groundwork for thinking about subjectivity, acceleration, and the pressures of the digital age — exactly the terrain this group will explore. We’ll approach it through close reading and shared inquiry, working passage by passage rather than offering summaries or lectures. The essay is compact enough to discuss in one meeting, but rich enough to merit a second. If the conversation demands it, we’ll happily continue in a follow-up session.

Let's play badminton at Sports Centre Olšanka. We'll meet at 10.45 and play for 60 minutes. If you have a Multisport card please bring it along, as it will make the court free for you and also reduce the cost for others. If you don't have a Multisport card the game will cost you a maximum of 150 crowns, probably much less. I will cover the cost of the court so please bring cash to pay me. The topic for January is "Chemistry" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 7:00 pm, show starts at 7:30 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience.
