This session explores antinatalism, through thinkers like Schopenhauer, and David Benatar. But this is no longer a purely philosophical question. Today, birth rates are collapsing across much of the world. States intervene through incentives, restrictions, and population engineering. Technology separates sex from pregnancy and reproduction from the human body itself. This session explores birth and antinatalism **at the intersection of philosophy, demography, politics, and technology**. **Introduction (15 minutes)** We start with a short introduction of the guests. **Questions to discuss: (1 hour and 45 minutes):** 1. Would you want to be born again? 2. Can it ever be ethical to impose life on someone **without their consent**? 3. Can we meaningfully say someone is “better or worse off” for never existing? 4. Was the One-Child Policy an ethical catastrophe — or a brutal but rational response to material limits? If overpopulation causes massive suffering, is coercive birth control ever morally defensible? 18. If parents screen embryos for severe diseases, is that eugenics — or responsibility? 19. Why is state-driven selection immoral, but market-driven selection acceptable? 20. Is the traditional nuclear family the only morally acceptable way to raise a child?

They are powerful, set-based methods to view data in unexpected ways. Window functions provide easy, set-based solutions to solve some common problems: * Using running totals * Performing operations in intervals * Identifying data gaps and islands * Performing aggregates without losing detail Many people are confused by window functions and do not know how to use them properly. This session will explore window functions, how they work, and how to use them. Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome.
