Attending our Open Day will allow you to learn more about the different filmmaking disciplines and crafts through sample lectures and workshops delivered by experienced film professionals over the day. Attendees will leave with an introductory knowledge of the many filmmaking disciplines taught by Raindance. We have designed the day for you to explore what we have to offer and immerse yourself within our film training school for the day. Try out as many of the taster sessions as you like, and end the day at our networking drinks where you can talk to tutors and other attendees over a free drink. The day will include a range of taster sessions including directing, screenwriting and producing, along with sessions on breaking into the film industry. This event will take place at the Raindance Film Training Centre. Here you will find all the information you will need about stepping into the world of filmmaking, no matter your level and experience. This event is free for Raindance Members. Each week, we come up to a different theme. It pushes your conversation skills up. It helps you to speak about many topics and to interact in French in multiple contexts. Regular attendees learn a lot, make improvements and are able to have a chat about numerous topic! "So how are we supposed to get great architects, if they only get the chance to architect fewer than a half-dozen times in their career?" — Ted Neward. This quote highlights the need for practice, which is what our LSCC architecture katas provide: a safe, repeatable way to hone your software architecture design skills by simulating architectural challenges. **What's the format?** You'll be split into groups and have a business problem to solve. You'll be tasked with designing a technical architecture to meet that problem context. As with real-life you'll have to manage various trade-offs in your design and interact with a Product Owner to clarify your questions. At the end of the task each team will showcase their architecture and technology choices back to the wider group as part of a group discussion. This month we're doing something a bit different. Edward Boggis-Rolfe has very kindly offered to host us at the moorings where he has a boat, just up past Tower Bridge. We'll have access to a small event space, right on the river, which is covered, but outdoors. We'll have a BBQ going, serving sausages, and free drinks. The cost of the food and drink is being covered by Undo - so thanks to Undo, too! But rather than just be a social event, we do want to include some C++ content, too. We'll have access to a screen and projector - but whether we'll be able to use them depends on the weather! So we're inviting anyone that wants to give a **lightning talk** to let us know. The one caveat is that you'll need to be prepared to give it *without slides* if we can't use the projector (we should have audio, at least). Kim will lead us through a variety of old and new dances that welcome newbies and delight experienced dancers.** **Roscommon Sessions, a traditional Irish music quartet from Columbus, Ohio, began their musical journey centered around the energy and spontaneity of Irish sessions. **Total Eclipse of the Chart: School Redistricting Dashboards** In this presentation, we will explore the utilization of maps, sets, and SQL within a Tableau dashboard to help provide “what-if” analyses generated through the use of a mapped dashboard, providing different scenarios and the potential implications of these. While in this use case we are focused on a large school district, the concepts of utilizing existing data to explore the future impacts of modifying different geographic boundaries can be useful to many industries, balancing the mix of maps with visual analytics. **About Our Speaker** Robert Kramer is the Data Systems and State Reporting Coordinator at South Western City Schools in Grove City. He has worked there for 17 years, serving previously in the roles of Data Analyst, Programmer, and Operations Coordinator. Prior to working at South Western, he worked as a Systems Engineer at Pinnacle Data Systems in Groveport. He graduated in 2005 from The University of Toledo with his Bachelor’s in Computer Science and Engineering, and a minor in Mathematics. Robert resides in Obetz with his wife, and their 15 and 12 year-old daughters. He was also just elected to his 3rd four-year term on the Obetz City Council.
