Personally, I think this is the best kept secret in Leesburg. During the week, the owner rents out her cafe for private events, but on the weekends, it’s a cozy botanical cafe where you can get a beautiful plant to bring home after a good convo over a latte. In warmer weather, there’s a hidden patio in the back, where you can enjoy some tree-shaded privacy. Limited pastries and seating, but plenty of parking in the town garage across the street. **In a bold departure from our usual articles and short stories, this month we will be exchanging... seeds.** Bring what you’ve saved, thinned, or over-ordered. Trade, collect, compare notes on seed-starting setups, and swap stories about last season’s triumphs and failures. If you don’t have seeds to share, come anyway. You can learn, collect a few, and hang out with people who get genuinely excited about planting things. * Will we accidentally discuss the nature of generosity? Possibly. * Will someone bring up gift economies? Perhaps. * Will you leave with tomato seeds? Very likely. **Where:** This year we’ll be hosting at [Nova Labs](https://www.nova-labs.org/). Nova Labs is a local maker space—a collaborative workshop with tools, equipment, and creative people building everything from art to prototypes. (I'm a new member. It's a fantastic space!) We can mayyybe sneak in an impromptu tour. And if there’s interest, we can grab a drink afterward and keep the conversation—horticultural or otherwise—going. **Optional inspiration:** The Serviceberry by Robin Wall Kimmerer, a short reflection on abundance and reciprocity in the natural world. Read it if you like. Or just come for the squash. **Bring:** Seeds, small envelopes or bags, and something to label your seeds with. And a seedy snack if you feel so moved!

Our monthly magical writing workshop is appropriate for writers of all levels and types (poetry and prose). Join TaraTheBard in a guided discussion about magical writing practices, ancestral connection and creativity, seasonal writing practices, publication luck magic, putting craft into storycrafting, and more. Each session focuses on the theme of a tarot card. This inclusive workshop provides support to new and experienced writers, a thematic prompt, in-workshop writing time, and space to share ideas and results. Paper notebooks, laptops, and tablets encouraged. Bring your best writing tools, your favorite blanket, a cozy cup of tea, or whatever you need to connect with the spirits of writing. \*\*New attendees welcome!\*\* This month, we plan to create and enact a group spell, discuss the Wheel of Fortune and luck/fortune theme, and explore how that theme could appear in our writing. FOCUS: March's Magical Writing Workshop focuses on The Wheel of Fortune -- a major arcana card of the tarot. Please bring your favorite tarot deck's Wheel card (though you may also borrow a store deck if needed). Writing Review: February's Magical Writing Workshop focused on the Lovers card and its symbo;s. We will devote part of the time to discussing our Lovers writing.

Amoral, capricious, even malicious when they chose to be, the too-frequently forgotten fairies of times long past would, more often than not, haunt nightmares. Join Brittany Warman, a folklorist who has earned a devoted following among Profs and Pints fans, as she explores the darker side of Irish fairylore. The figures she'll discuss include: The Leanan-Sidhe, a vampiric fairy who gives artistic inspiration in exchange for your mortal spirit. The Dullahan, a fairy with a human spine for a whip and a habit of hurtling across fields in a death coach made from human skin. The Banshee, a mournful fairy whose cry signals a death in the family to which she's attached herself. Dr. Warman also will examine the surprising impact of fairy folklore on two classics of Irish Gothic literature, Oscar Wilde's *The Picture of Dorian Gray* and Bram Stoker's *Dracula.* It’s a talk that will remind you that the relationship between the Irish and the spooky stretches well beyond Halloween.
