Phoenix ARC “Coolmine” Radio Rally 2026
Phoenix ARC “Coolmine” Radio Rally 2026
ast year we packed up a few projects, a pile of flyers, and the usual “sure we’ll only be there an hour” optimism… and had a brilliant day out at the Phoenix Amateur Radio Club annual rally in Coolmine. Good news: it’s on again this year, and we’ll be back along representing TOG — **EI0TOG** — for a chat, a catch-up, and a bit of radio craic. ### Radio rallies are for everyone If you’ve never been to a radio rally, don’t let the name put you off. They’re **not just for licensed amateurs** or hardcore collectors — they’re for anyone who likes **electronics, making, fixing, DIY, audio gear, test equipment, and learning how things work**. You’ll see traders with radios and antennas, boxes of components, the “maybe I’ll need that someday” adapters, and plenty of people happy to help you figure out what you’re looking at (or what you accidentally bought!). ### The details **Date:** Sunday **15th February 2026** **Event:** 2026 Phoenix Amateur Radio Club “Coolmine” Rally **Venue:** **Coolmine Community School, Dublin, D15 FW97** **Doors open:** **10:00** ![](https://www.tog.ie/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/PXL_20250216_103643921-769x1024.jpg) ### Say hello to TOG (EI0TOG) Drop over and say hi at the TOG table. Whether you’re curious about getting started in radio, want to know what a hackerspace is like, or you’re deep into a project and looking for a nudge in the right direction — we’re always up for a chat. And if you’re already on the air, give us a wave — it’s always great to meet radio friends in person as well as over the bands. ### Photos from last year Want a taste of what the Coolmine Rally is like? Here’s our gallery from last year’s visit — stalls, treasures, and the general rally buzz: [https://www.tog.ie/gallery/nggallery/all/phoenix-amateur-radio-club-annual-radio-rally-2025](https://www.tog.ie/gallery/nggallery/all/phoenix-amateur-radio-club-annual-radio-rally-2025)
Let’s play... Ars Magica / Deathmatch Island
Let’s play... Ars Magica / Deathmatch Island
Join us every Sunday and tell a story as a group by playing a beginner-friendly roleplaying game. Every week we have 2-3 different games. All materials provided and rules are explained at the start of each game, you just need to bring your imagination. 🎭 **This week's facilitators:** * 🧙 **Dave** guiding a troupe of wizards in *Ars Magica*. You are young magi and magae, wielders of powerful but dangerous magic, living together in the Covenant of Libellus in Mythic Europe, a medieval world where legends are real and the use of magic is governed by the strict laws of the Order of Hermes. But something has gone terribly wrong… and the one person who could explain it is suddenly no longer here, leaving behind unanswered questions, uneasy alliances, and the trace of a promise that should never have been made. What you uncover may save you… or condemn you. * 🏝️ **Adam** directing players in a deadly game show on *Deathmatch Island*. You don't remember how you got to this mysterious island, but you and your fellow competitors are forced to risk your lives in a series of lethal challenges for the vague promise of a big reward for the sole survivor. In this game you have one life - use it wisely. Play to win! *** Feel free to ask the organisers any questions you have (here or on our [Discord server](https://tinyurl.com/indie-rpgs-dublin)).

Sunday boardgame meetup
Sunday boardgame meetup
Our free-of-charge meet-up in the Black Sheep Pub on Capel Street. This is a casual meet up for people who want to play boardgames. Lots of people bring plenty of games and rules will always be explained so don't worry if you're new to the hobby and you don't have anything to bring along or think you won't know how to play. The meet-up runs for the whole day but late comers always welcome, you just may have to wait a little for a game to open up but games will be starting and ending throughout the day. **IMPORTANT!** **The meet up is free of charge but we do ask that people support the bar by buying food and/or drink. The bar is very accommodating to us and it's important that we support them in return. Bringing in outside food or drink is completely unacceptable.** Check out the comments below where people will say what games they are bringing and express your interest in joining if interested. Any questions contact either of the organisers Gavin or Stephen.

Zazen Meditation + Dharma talk or Kinhin
Zazen Meditation + Dharma talk or Kinhin
The meaning of the word zen is meditation, zazen means sitting meditation. In zazen practice we begin to know ourselves, and to go beyond the limits of our personal ego. Within our tradition zazen is referred to as shikantaza, not doing, letting go of thoughts, dropping off body and mind. This sitting meditation is the focus of our practice. Language limits our ability to communicate the true nature of zen; it is something that is better understood through practice. We are open to everyone interested in learning about zen. Intro workshop for newcomers is available at 5.30pm each Sunday. The dojo is a sacred place and it is important to be considerate of everyone. We have many people that travel to practise together once a week or once a month. So for that reason it is really essential that we all know the structure of the sitting practise (when to sit, how to do Kinhin, the different bell sounds and their meaning etc), to ensure a silent, safe and meaningful meditation. And it's also great to meet everyone before the sitting practise. And answer any questions you may have. We have zafus and zabutons (mats and cushions) for all to sit on. Chairs are available too. Comfortable clothing for sitting, black or neutral tones best. We greatly appreciate a donation of €5 to cover costs if it's possible for you. Please arrive 10min before start so 6ish (if you're not doing the intro workshop). You are very welcome to our dojo!

reviving gardans, Growing community
reviving gardans, Growing community
**Hands in the Soil: Community Growing, Learning & Craic** This first gathering will be a relaxed mix of **hands-on garden work, shared learning, and good conversation**. It’s about getting together in a real space, doing something practical, and seeing what ideas and connections might grow from there. On the day, we’ll: * Get our **hands dirty** with some light garden work and soil prep * Do some **seed sowing** and talk about what grows well locally * **Make kombucha together** and chat about fermentation, food, and simple home practices * Share knowledge, questions, and experiences around growing food * Enjoy some **fellowship, chats, and a bit of craic** along the way.Alongside the practical side, we’ll also have an open, informal discussion about a bigger idea: * The possibility of **small community “park farms” or gardens** in underused green spaces around Dublin * What that might look like, what’s realistic, and whether others feel drawn to exploring it further There’s no pressure, no expertise required, and no expectation beyond showing up with curiosity and a willingness to pitch in. Whether you’re experienced with gardening or completely new, you’re very welcome. Bring clothes you don’t mind getting muddy, and if you have them, gloves. Everything else will be very low-key. This is just a **first step** — a chance to meet, work, talk, and see if there’s a shared appetite to keep growing something together.
