Dissecting Christine Falls, National Library
State Pathologist Dr. SallyAnne Collins will be in conversation with Garrett Fagan about the history of forensic science, the development of investigative techniques and their use in crime fiction from the historical to the contemporary. The discussion will consider what the fictional pathologist Quirke in John Banville's Christine Falls gets right and wrong about the work of a forensic pathologist, and the differences between forensic pathology in the 1950's and today. The work of the State Pathologist will be explained and there will be an opportunity for questions.
Dr. Sally Collins studied medicine at Edinburgh University in Scotland and specialises in Forensic Histopathology in Liverpool before returning to Edinburgh. After five years there, Dr. Collis joined the Office of the State Pathologist in Dublin as a State Pathologist.
Garrett Fagan teaches literature at the Open University and at universities in Dublin and at Warwick University in the UK. He teaches the One Dublin One Book/UCD course on Banville's Christine Falls.

๐ Silent Reading & Socialising ๐บ
## Details
The title of the event is a paradox! Read in silence and then discuss with like-minded folks! :-)
๐ **How does this work?**
We will meet in the Bartley's Restaurant area from 7:00 PM to 8:15 PM for silent reading and followed up by discussion. **During silent reading, you're expected to remain silent and read.** Please bring your headphones and refrain from the discussion during the first one hour in the area.
๐ฅ **Socialising**
After an hour, at 8:15 PM, we'll discuss and socialize about the book you're reading. We highly encourage you to move between tables and strike up conversations with fellow book lovers. These discussions about literature and reading recommendations are often the highlight of the event!
Feel free to join at any point during the event.
The event is indoors, hopefully, we can continue the tradition of the silent reading in the winter!
**๐ Helpful Tips and Notes**
* Bring headphones to block out surrounding noise
* I will post a comment on the event page when I arrive to indicate where we're seated, so everyone can find us
* If you prefer to skip the silent reading, you can join directly at the bar at 8:15 PM
โ ๏ธ**Something Happened?**
If something unpleasant happened to you, it may happen to others. It may be small but don't hesitate to reach out to me.
Looking forward to meeting you all ๐

Pot Luck in the Park!
Inspired by our successful events like "Saturday Mornings @ East Market" and other "Pot Luck in the Park" lunches, this gathering promises to be a blend of fun conversations, language exchange, and cultural insights, all while sharing wonderful foods with each other.
Please bring a dish to share and anything you would like to drink.
We will provide plates, plastic silverware and napkins.

Note: Since the weather is unpredictable in April, we have a couple of places in mind for the Pot Luck. We have reserved a room in the Dublin Library from 1-2:30 PM for the meal, if necessary. \* But if the weather is nice on April 12th, we are planning to meet in Bridge Park, possibly in the covered shelter area at 12:00 Noon. We will update the details closer to the date of the Pot Luck but wanted to get this out to everyone so that you can make plans for that day.

Prompt vs. Paintbrush
AI is changing how art is made. But when does it stop being your work and start being the machineโs?
This month we're going to be doing a panel with with digital image, music, and written word artists, talking about at what point, while using AI in the creation process, does the work become not the artist creation?
We encourage audience participation during this event that will be moderated by Chris Slee.
Whether youโre deep in the field or just getting curious, come connect with others building and exploring AI in Columbus.
