The class goes on an adapted pace with a first part dedicated to a chit-chat and then we'll focus on a short text to learn about French culture and the language. We approach the theme, read a short text (you get a copy for the session), speak, learn vocabulary and things about French culture. The theme is always linked to French, the French and France. At the end, we wrap up and keep a few minutes for some miscellaneous questions. After the class, you will get an email with a list of vocabulary (some words / expressions seen along the class). This is a very small group class: maximum of 4 attendees and a minimum of 2. So you will speak directly to the tutor. During the class, the tutor helps you to structure and improve your phrasing, and to develop your understanding. **IMPORTANT** If you are new to our Meet Up, please send ASAP an email at frenchlondonexperience at gmail dot com to introduce yourself, to check your level, to confirm your space and to get the Bank details for payment. **PRICING:** You can pay each time or by block (then you save money) \- £15 per session \(to be paid when signing up by bank transfer \- Bank details on request\) \- £60 for 6 sessions \(to be used within 3 months \- to be paid in advance by bank transfer \- Bank details on request\) People who sign up without paying will be removed from the list. AI in Production: Vectors in the Newsroom & Healthcare Challenges
AI in Production: Vectors in the Newsroom & Healthcare Challenges
GDG Cloud London is thrilled to be partnering with Skyscanner for a deep dive into the world of AI applications in Production. This meet-up is a unique opportunity to connect with fellow AI enthusiasts, industry practitioners, and researchers in a dynamic and interactive setting. We are going to have some pizza and networking at the end! Don't miss out, RSVP now!AGENDA 18:00 - Doors Open & Check-ins 18:30 - Welcome & Intro 18:40 - Ellen Muller - Vectors in the Newsroom: Building Smarter Image Search at the Guardian. When a photo editor searches our image management system for "protest" at 6pm on a deadline, they can't afford to get zero results because the images were captioned "demonstration." Traditional keyword search has no way to know those mean the same thing - and for an archive with inconsistent metadata, that gap matters. This talk is about how we added semantic search to the Grid (the Guardian's open source image management system) using embeddings and vector similarity. We'll dig into how vector spaces let you encode meaning rather than just text, and the practical choices (and mistakes) involved in shipping this into a real production system. 19:15 - Bruno Ripa - Technical challenges of AI adoption in Healthcare Deploying AI in healthcare requires solving a shifting equation: balancing high-fidelity clinical utility against rigorous data sovereignty mandates and punishing infrastructure costs. This talk breaks down how our company navigates this fluid landscape daily. We will cover where we use AI in our stack, how localised data compliance continuously reshapes our engineering choices, and the concrete technical hurdles we encounter along the way. Rather than showcasing a finalised architecture, we will focus on the ongoing design decisions and trade-offs required to keep our product secure, reliable, and compliant, all while aggressively optimising compute and operational costs—proving that surviving the mutating challenges of healthcare AI is a continuous process of lean execution. 20:00 - Pizza & Networking Agenda --- Speakers Bruno Ripa - Dyad (Senior AI Engineer) Ellen Muller - The Guardian (Software Engineer) Hosted By Amanda Cavallaro, GDG Organizer I'm an Aikidoka, Developer Advocate, Software Developer, Google Developers Expert, Linkedin Learning Author and a Full Stack Web Development Specialist. Generic outreach is dead. Spray-and-pray emails get ignored, burn your sender reputation, and waste hours you don't have. In 90 minutes, you'll build something better: an AI-powered outreach engine that finds the right businesses, qualifies them automatically, and writes personalised messages at scale that actually get opened and answered. Not just theory. Not "use ChatGPT to write faster." A real, repeatable system — built live, around an actual EU brand. You'll watch the full cycle work end to end, then walk out ready to run it on your own business tomorrow. Here's what you'll walk away with: 🎯 Find — Pinpoint your ideal customers and pull a clean, structured lead list from sources hiding in plain sight. AI does the heavy lifting. ⚡ Qualify — Turn your gut instinct into a scoring system the AI runs at scale, so you only chase leads worth chasing. ✉️ Convert — Write outreach that goes way beyond {{name}} — then sequence follow-ups that hold the thread and pull replies. By the end, you won't just understand AI outreach. You'll have designed the engine. Perfect for SME owners, founders, consultants, employees and students who want a system that works — not another AI demo. Seats are limited and these fill fast — grab yours now. 🕐 17:15–18:45 workshop · 18:45–19:15 networking & refreshments 📍 Barclays, 120 Moorgate, London 🤝 In collaboration with Barclays

Data & Analytics Wednesday - Learning from Everyday Data
Data & Analytics Wednesday - Learning from Everyday Data
**Practical Curiosity: Learning from Everyday Data** How do we actually get better at utilizing our day-to-day data? Fancy dashboards and complex models might look nice and draw attention, but that’s not where most of us spend our time. In fact those shiny outputs frequently sit unused, while the real insights are drawn from the analyst’s daily practice. Sometimes it’s as simple and as powerful as noticing that a segment is shrinking, a channel is underused, or certain links keep getting all the clicks. There’s many different places that the spark of insight can come from, but you have to keep your head in the data and know where to look. In this session, we’ll explore real-world examples of how segmentation, testing, and click behavior can uncover practical digital marketing opportunities. You’ll leave with inspiration for your own use cases, along with a few simple ways to ask better questions, spot meaningful patterns, and make smarter decisions without overcomplicating it. **About Our Speaker:** [Elaine Armbruster](https://www.linkedin.com/in/elainearmbruster/) is a Director of Digital Experience at the [American Diabetes Association](https://diabetes.org/), where she focuses on using data and insights to create smarter, more effective digital experiences. A lifelong Columbus resident, she has built her career in email marketing and the broader digital user journey, and is finding she most enjoys working in the messy middle where systems, data, and big ideas don’t quite line up yet. Stop Guessing: How to Measure and Improve LLM Outputs
Stop Guessing: How to Measure and Improve LLM Outputs
Most people use LLMs by feel: ask a question, read the answer, decide whether it “seems good,” and move on. That works for casual use. It does not work when you are building software, automating workflows, writing important documents, or relying on AI for anything that needs to be repeatable. In this talk, we’ll look at how to improve and evaluate the inputs and outputs of LLMs using practical measurement techniques. We’ll cover how prompt changes affect results, how to compare outputs, how to build simple evaluation sets, and how math-based methods like similarity scoring can help you move beyond guesswork. This will be beginner-friendly, so even if you don't know anything about AI, you should get something out of it. However, this will be a little more technical than our intro talks. You do not need to be an AI researcher, but programmers and technically curious attendees will get a lot out of it. We’ll cover: * Why “it looks good” is not enough * How to improve prompts by changing the input, context, and constraints * How to compare LLM outputs more systematically * Basic evaluation techniques for accuracy, consistency, and usefulness * How embeddings, cosine similarity, and scoring can help evaluate results * Where automated evaluation works — and where humans still need to stay in the loop By the end, you’ll have a practical mental model for treating LLMs less like magic and more like systems you can test, measure, and improve. LOGISTICS AND PARKING: The talk starts at 7:00 PM. The first half hour is reserved for everyone to get set up and mingle. Free pizza and drinks! The cheapest parking option is to find street parking, which will only cost you a few bucks. Otherwise, park in the nearby veteran's museum lot for $8. It's highly recommended you avoid the nearby $15 garage parking.
Free In-Person Meeting: Get Over Losses & Betrayals, Build Lasting Relationships
Free In-Person Meeting: Get Over Losses & Betrayals, Build Lasting Relationships
This is a free, in-person meeting on the subject of betrayals, losses and how to get over them so you can build lasting relationships. Burdened by a stressful relationship? Unhealthy relationships can trigger feelings of anger, despair or self-doubt. They can create dwindling spirals of fights and seeking to make-up, or trying to “pin the blame” on someone or something. If you don’t find the RIGHT reasons, or select the correct sources of the problem, the problem can just get worse and worse. Whether in love or personal ties, with friends or at work, our life really IS affected by the quality of our relationships. Good ones can promote pleasure and survival while less optimum ones can lead to annoyance, anger, self-doubt, stress, or even affect our health and ability to survive well. Whether you are suffering from a divorce, or a painful break-up, don’t know who to trust (or who to CHOOSE) as a partner, friend, boss or employee - the anxiety of relationship troubles can really make a mess of things. Maybe you’ve suffered a betrayal, or are dealing with hostility or criticalness or invalidation. Dwindling relationships can involve destructive behavior, where we hurt those we love, or start succumbing to self-destructive thoughts, attitudes or behaviors that spiral out of control and affect much more than our immediate relationship. Past losses in love or life can affect how we act or react to new people and situations and hold us back from even starting to create new, possibly great relationships! How can one get back onto a saner course of action? Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life: human relationships! Break free from self imposed limitations Here we will discuss: • How to “erase” the trauma of past hurts and betrayals so that one isn’t always repeating past mistakes. • Why and how do the negative emotions of others affect you? • Why is my partner withdrawing and what can I do about it? • Why do we sometimes feel compelled to hurt the ones we love? • Fights & arguments - what's really behind them? • What underlies “corrosive criticism” or the need to invalidate self or others? • How one can stably change one’s outlook on life so they can affect positive change? • Where do compulsive destructive behaviors come from and what can be done about them? • How to form closer bonds & keep growing the relationships with the people you care about? • How to enhance one’s own ability to survive and create positive healthy relationships whether in love, family & friendships or in work, business or one’s career? Relationships can be hard and life itself IS challenging. Why not arm yourself with the knowledge and breakthroughs that have been made about the mind, mental reactions & interpersonal relationships, so that one has better awareness and control over themselves and life in general. Learn where painful experiences are “stored” and how they can unknowingly affect us. You will also find out how one can “erase” those past painful experiences so that one is free to move forward without being tripped up by the past. Learn too, about what can lead some people to become “toxic” personalities and how to identify those traits in others so you won’t be tripped up trusting the wrong person. Our free Meet-ups occur in a safe environment where one can learn, without fear of judgment or criticism, and without the recommendation of harmful mental techniques or therapies, just how YOU can get yourself onto a happier & more successful path: in love & in life. We look forward to having you join us! This class is sponsored by the Dianetics & Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.
