That's all folks **Stepping away from the code… but not quite…** *by Wim Godden* In many developers' lives comes a time when they move on from "coder" to "lead" to "architect" (or similar terminology) and maybe all the way to CTO. After a while it gets harder to grasp the concepts the "coder" people are talking about, even though it seems like just yesterday. And it's not imposter syndrome, it's something entirely different ! In this talk, we'll walk through this journey, which is not always a one-way street, to illustrate that how you approach this journey makes all the difference to yourself and your team. *About Wim Godden:* Wim Godden has been working with open source technologies since 1997 and has been involved in open source projects such as PHPCompatibility and OpenX. Next to web development, he's worked with a wide range of technologies (from database clusters to Internet backbone design) and worked a lot on high-scalability projects and on coaching/training web engineers. He's currently the CTO at one of the leading European locker companies for luggage storage and festivals and music venues. **Building agents with Laravel AI** *by Jonas Van Loey* Further information will be added asap. If you'd like to host or speak at one of the meetups, make sure to contact us at [hello@phpantwerp.be.](http://hello@phpantwerp.be./) **Our meetups are sponsored by Take The Lead** **Take The Lead** is a Belgian e-commerce agency that helps companies launch, optimize, and scale their online business. Afterwork session: Brass Birmingham
Afterwork session: Brass Birmingham
***Brass: Birmingham*** is an economic strategy game sequel to Martin Wallace's 2007 masterpiece, *Brass*. *Brass: Birmingham* tells the story of competing entrepreneurs in Birmingham during the industrial revolution between the years of 1770 and 1870. It offers a very different story arc and experience from its predecessor. As in its predecessor, you must develop, build and establish your industries and network in an effort to exploit low or high market demands. The game is played over two halves: the canal era (years 1770-1830) and the rail era (years 1830-1870). To win the game, score the most VPs. VPs are counted at the end of each half for the canals, rails and established (flipped) industry tiles. Each round, players take turns according to the turn order track, receiving two actions to perform any of the following actions (found in the original game): 1. **Build** \- Pay required resources and place an industry tile\. 2. **Network** \- Add a rail / canal link\, expanding your network\. 3. **Develop** \- Increase the VP value of an industry\. 4. **Sell** \- Sell your cotton\, manufactured goods and pottery\. 5. **Loan** \- Take a £30 loan and reduce your income\.

Deep Conversation - Question Chosen in Session
Deep Conversation - Question Chosen in Session
Welcome to our weekly event in the upstairs room of The Sister Café, rue Chair et Pain 3, one block from the Grand Place. Please get there early enough to order your drink at the bar first. Thank you! After introductions we will collect questions from the group participants, choose one by voting then discuss it for an hour. Then most of us stay for drinks and bizarre conversations. Past questions have been wide and not confined to academic philosophy: What is a genuine friend? Is social media turning us into emotional zombies? Do we lose some of the experience of things by defining them? Are we driven by sex? Is loneliness a personal failure? Is morality relative? **Crucially, be kind and respectful and generous** in your disagreements; remember how much you personally enjoy someone else proving you wrong before celebrating your cutting counterexamples.

It would really be too bad if you can't join us, as it mostly gets better the second or third time you come.* *In addition to that, if you arrive and notice any signs of nervousness or fear, you can always let me know right then.* **THANK YOU AND SEE YOU ALL ON Saturday!**
