Transformation Truths
Transformation Truths
*Why most transformations fail — and what leaders must do differently* With trillions of dollars spent on digital transformation globally each year, the results are sobering: only 20–30% of initiatives achieve their intended outcomes. In this talk, Susan draws on firsthand experience leading both successful and failed transformations to explore why — and what leaders can do differently. Structured in four acts, the session moves from the hard reality of transformation failure to the underlying patterns behind it, arriving at four practical truths every leader must accept: • Transformation is never the goal — business value is • Political capital is finite and must be managed deliberately • Early focus matters more than destination planning • Measurement should enable learning, not be used as a weapon The talk closes with two grounding questions every leader should be able to answer before launching any transformation — practical, honest, and hard-won from the field. **Speaker Bio** Susan Rohde is the founder of Rohde Inc. and a technology executive with decades of experience guiding public and private sector organizations through complex, high- stakes transformation. Her career spans executive leadership at a top-five national bank, a large state government, and six years as Senior Consultant to a major federal agency — where she helped lead one of the most ambitious project-to-product transformations in the federal government. As a BVSSH Advocate, Susan is part of Jon Smart's global community of practitioners committed to helping organizations achieve Better Value Sooner Safer Happier. She brings a practitioner's lens to transformation — having both delivered change for others and led it herself from the inside. Susan has presented at the AWS Public Sector Summit, the DevOps Enterprise Summit, and multiple national forums on Agile, transformation, and technology leadership.

Making Gratitude a Habit
Making Gratitude a Habit
Counting your blessings, being thankful and appreciative… Sometimes, do you find it difficult to be grateful? Even when things are tough, gratitude makes sense. Because gratitude is short for ‘great attitude’. It makes us happier and hopeful. It keeps you focused on what is there, instead of what isn’t, on what’s right instead of what’s wrong. Join us to explore ways to cultivate an attitude of gratitude and practise more gratitude, especially in hard times. **This is a free 60-minute in-person seminar.** **If you would like to make a voluntary donation, please click** [here.](https://www.innerspace.org.uk/donations/ "https://www.innerspace.org.uk/donations/") \* I consent to my submitted data being collected and stored. Architecture Kata at Zopa Bank
Architecture Kata at Zopa Bank
We're delighted to announce an exciting LSCC event on Wednesday 13th May, in partnership with our friends at Zopa Bank! Join us at the Zopa Canary Wharf office in London for this session and get the chance to flex your architectural design muscles! "So how are we supposed to get great architects, if they only get the chance to architect fewer than a half-dozen times in their career?" — Ted Neward. This quote highlights the need for practice, which is what our LSCC architecture katas provide: a safe, repeatable way to hone your software architecture design skills by simulating architectural challenges. **What's the format?** You'll be split into groups and have a business problem to solve. You'll be tasked with designing a technical architecture to meet that problem context. As with real-life you'll have to manage various trade-offs in your design and interact with a Product Owner to clarify your questions. At the end of the task each team will showcase their architecture and technology choices back to the wider group as part of a group discussion. Whether you're a seasoned coder, software architect or new to the scene, you're invited to share insights, discuss best practices, and learn from fellow participants. No prior session attendance or architecture knowledge is required – just bring your enthusiasm. No laptop is required for this session, we'll provide each group with paper, pens and sticky notes to support the activity. Thank you to the Codurance team that will run the event at Zopa Bank's office. Find out more at https://www.codurance.com/ Food and drinks will be provided with vegetarian, vegan and non-alcoholic options available - thanks to Zopa Bank for sponsoring refreshments and hosting in their great office. **About Zopa** Founded in 2020 with a full banking licence and backed by some of Silicon Valley’s most iconic investors, digital bank Zopa is building the Home of Money. WRITE CLUB: one hour of silent writing (or reading) in the company of others
WRITE CLUB: one hour of silent writing (or reading) in the company of others
The first rule of WRITE CLUB is that you do not talk ***during*** WRITE CLUB. This very simple meetup is based on the premise that public and peer accountability enables more productive writing than sitting at home and getting distracted by the fridge. We will write/read for an hour in silence. (I will be writing thought experiments for my other meetup group: [THOUGHT EXPERIMENTS IN PUBS](https://www.meetup.com/thought-experiments-in-pubs)) If you'd like to hang out afterwards, or if you prefer just to hang out, I have another event immediately afterwards in the same place :-) You can find that here: [HANGING OUT AT THE SOUTHBANK](https://www.meetup.com/experimentsin/events/313686740) And if you'd like to finish the evening with a dance, there is a free social salsa meetup just outside The Southbank Centre just afterwards. More info [here](https://www.instagram.com/salserosfriends/). **This event will take place in the foyer of The Southbank Centre.** You can find us by looking out for: * A tote bag with WRITE CLUB sewn onto it * My T-Shirt, which will have HANGING OUT embroidered on the back of it * A big red flag with THE SUNRISE CLUB emblazoned on it (though this clearly isn't THE SUNRISE CLUB! If you want to find out about that, you can do so [here](https://www.meetup.com/the-sunrise-club/).) * Other writers - who may be spread out across the centre. They will have white pieces of paper with the WRITE CLUB stamp at the top of the page. There are plenty of places to buy refreshments, but you can also bring your own if you prefer.
