Explore Melbourne is the largest meetup group in Australia with more than 42,000 members. We know these group rules won’t suit everybody, and that’s okay—there are many other groups where you might feel more at home. To keep things safe, fun, and positive, we have 8 simple rules for people attending our events. Over the past 9 years, we’ve removed 342 people (around 0.8%) for breaking them—so please read carefully!
❌ Not a dating group – We’re here to make friends and share experiences, not find soulmates.
📵 No phone numbers – You’re welcome to swap social media if you both agree, but please don’t share or ask for phone numbers. Please don’t add people to WhatsApp or other groups.
🔞 Our events are only open to people aged 18 and older.
📢 No advertising – Please don’t promote other events, groups, or businesses here.
😅 Don’t be clingy – Give people space to mingle and chat with others too.
🚗 No carpooling – For safety reasons and insurance coverage, we don’t allow carpooling or ride-sharing through the group.
💰 No sales pitches – That means no selling, MLMs, pyramid schemes, or “life-changing mentorships.” Keep it scam-free.
By joining an event, you agree to follow these rules. Breaking them means removal from all our groups—no exceptions. Thank you!
**Liability Waiver:**
The organizer of this group cannot accept any liability for any loss, damage, injury, or accident to participants or their property at this event. By participating in this event, you're taking responsibility for your safety and well-being. The Six menu at the second last day of IDES.
Hi all,
Note: ensure to read the RSVP rules below on how to secure your spot for this event (Ides restaurant closing) after placing your name on the waitlist.
Some may have heard of the news that IDES’ last day is on the 14th March 2026 and the early session times were quickly taken on this day after their closure announcement. https://www.broadsheet.com.au/melbourne/food-and-drink/article/peter-gunn-to-close-ides-in-march, https://www.theage.com.au/goodfood/melbourne-eating-out/it-may-have-dropped-the-degustation-and-a-hat-but-this-fine-diner-is-still-a-winner-20260119-p5nv5k.html
I managed to reserve a table of 6 for The Six sample menu at 6:30pm, Friday 13th March 2026.
Those members who attended the farewell dinner at ides 2 years ago marking the founder’s (also group organizer) resignation from her Fine Diners group, would appreciate how nice Ides restaurant was/is. On this day the new organiser/s was/were also appointed for our group…the drum rolled and coronation was officially announced.
Anyways, back to the dinner at Ides-
Steps required to secure your seat to attend this event:
•Payment is required in order of RSVP. (Click on the waitlist to view the number in the queue next to your name)
•The first 6 members on the waitlist have 48 hours to make payment in full after placing your name on waitlist
•If payment is not made within this timeframe, you will have to give up your sport to the next member in line (eg member on queue number 7th) or you will be removed to "not going list" and if you wish to attend, feel free to re-place your name on the going list to re-queue
•Once payment is received I will move your name across to the going list.
•Cost of dinner:
The Six set menu and the Black Box is $188.70/person including card surcharge for food only. Drinks not included and can be purchased on the evening.
>>>>If you change your mind or cancel and are not attending in less than 48 hours' notice before the scheduled event or you are at risk of a cancellation fee of the full price of the reserved menu per person.
Time etiquette:
A strict 3-hour dining time has been allocated for us. Please arrive early or on time.
(I have reserved a table for 6 - please read the RSVP rules above to lock in your spot) (Most likely I won't be able to make it, but I will be meeting you there to finalise the bill for food that you paid me once everyone is arrived and seated. It’s similar to what I have done for the members for the Duck event at Aru last year
I hope you can make it.
Cheers,
LeAnn

Andrew's Birthday Karaoke & Dinner (both optional) @ Customs House Hotel
Come along to Andrew's birthday karaoke with dinner at 7pm (both optional) at Customs House Hotel Williamstown.
So first part is optional dinner. Table is booked under Andrew Goodwin and my number is 0424453134 if anybody needs to contact me.
Here is a copy of the menu.
Then after optional dinner there is optional karaoke. Best to come through a bit before karaoke starts to write down a song or two or more before 9pm to make sure you get in a song or two basically if you're singing.
PLEASE NOTE SINGING IS TOTALLY OPTIONAL AND YOU CAN SING AS MANY SONGS AS YOU LIKE (IF ANY) OR JUST CHOOSE TO WATCH ON ALL NIGHT. YOU WILL NOT BE PRESSURED INTO SINGING BASICALLY ANYWAY. IN REALITY WHAT HAPPENS IS SOME PEOPLE WILL NEVER SING BUT SOME OTHERS SEE OTHERS SINGING AND DECIDE TO SING ANYWAY EVEN THOUGH THEY DON'T NORMALLY SING. SO THAT'S JUST THE REALITY OF IT ALL.
#### Karaoke hosted by T.D.K.S Entertainment
**9pm till late**
Let your hair down & be the star! Run by awesome fun loving girls.
Over 38,000 songs updated regularly.
Event cohosted by Martin Carr.
Plenty of parking around and about a 5 minute walk from Williamstown Station and the trains run all night so a good option if you like a few light refreshments.
PLEASE NOTE THIS EVENT IS ON MULTIPLE GROUPS.
Autism & Past-Life Memory; what the Academic Pioneers are Learning
**The Telepathy Tapes podcast** brought the ESP abilities of autistic children to the world’s attention, with several studies exploring this association more closely. However, the neurological effects of autism can affect other abilities as well – like present-life memory and even past-life memories.
**Jim Matlock and his team are pioneers** in this new cutting-edge field of study - now exploring it more systematically than ever before, with new findings still coming to light.
**Some autistic people have outstanding memory** capabilities, while also struggling in other areas. But other autistic people are unable to form the basic episodic memories that underlie autobiographical recall. And research is revealing that the same factors impacting present-life memory can impact past-life memory as well.
**In this session, Jim Matlock will discuss** several case studies of autistic children and adults to describe how autobiographical past-life memories can either be suppressed or enhanced under autism.
**About Jim Matlock PhD:**
* Anthropologist and world-class reincarnation researcher
* Creator of the 'Processual Soul Theory' through his comprehensive, multicultural and interdisciplinary approach
* 45+ years involvement in parapsychology and reincarnation studies
* Editorial Board member of the *Journal of Scientific Exploration*
* Editorial Board member of the Journal of Near-Death Studies
* Research Fellow with the Parapsychology Foundation, Inc.
* Winner of 2021 Parapsychological Association Book Award for Signs of Reincarnation: Exploring Beliefs, Cases, and Theory (2019)
* Author of a multitude of academic publications on reincarnation
* Curator of top-notch FB group "Signs of Reincarnation"
*

Walk & Coffee: Gardiners Creek-Anniversary Trail 9km for beginners
***
Enjoy a **structured Sunday morning walk** designed for people who want to **build walking fitness** and prepare for **longer walks or hikes**.
This is **not a social or chat-focused walk**. We’ll maintain a **steady, consistent pace** to help build endurance. While this is still suitable for beginners, participants should be comfortable walking continuously and aiming to improve their fitness over time.
The total distance is approximately **9 km**, starting on the **Anniversary Trail**, crossing onto the **Ferndale Trail**, and returning to the start via the **Gardiners Creek Trail**. The route follows well-maintained paths and is ideal for practising longer distances in a controlled environment.
After returning to the starting point, there will be an **optional coffee stop** at *Jack and the Beans Talk Café* near East Malvern Station for those who would like to join. The coffee catch-up is optional and separate from the walk.
**This walk is suitable for:**
* People preparing for longer walks or hikes
* Those wanting to build distance and endurance
* Beginners who are ready to walk continuously at a steady pace
The pace will be moderately brisk but not fast compared to my longer evening walks. We will not be stopping often regroup. I will pause at the turns to help ensure no one misses them. **By attending, you agree to match the pace and stay in sight of the group or be comfortable navigating your own way around.**
**What to bring:**
* Water bottle
* Appropriate clothing if it's windy or possibility of rain
* Hats/Sunglasses/Sun protection if it's sunny
**MEETING LOCATION**

COUNT monthly event: Kitchen service at Van Buren Center's shelter
Come assist Van Buren Shelter (https://ymcacolumbus.org/locations/vanburen) staff in serving dinners and cleaning up on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Dinner for the women is 5-6 pm and for the families is 6:15-7:15 pm. There is ample free parking available in the shelter's lot. The recommended area to park is in green in the image above.
There will be a new entrance for the time being. We are asking all volunteers to enter through the Donation Dock door, the orange mark on the image above. This door is located between the Single Adults and Family Shelter. You will see 2 large garage doors with a large green trash compactor in the center. Please head to the closest garage door to the building wall, with a ramp leading up. There, you will see a door with a sign stating instructions on how to enter the building. Please ring the doorbell, and a staff member will come and escort you into the building. If a staff member takes longer than 5 minutes, please call the front desk at 614-689-2020. This is a new process for us, and we do not want to keep you waiting! We appreciate your patience as we navigate this temporary change.
The shelter needs a volunteer count the day before the event so sign-up ends Monday at 4:50 PM. Afterwards some of us go to the Omnipresent Atheists Weekly Meetup in progress to have a bit to eat or drink (http://www.meetup.com/omnipresentatheists/).
Volunteers must be 14 or older. Since we will be working around families, the YMCA does not permit volunteering by individuals with convictions for violent or sexual crimes. The YMCA reserves the right to run background checks on volunteers.
For questions, comment on this page or contact: Andrew, awhit12@yahoo.com, (614)937-5802 (cell). Please let Andrew know if you volunteer anytime other than our COUNT events so that he can count your hours toward our service record.
