Level 2 - Intermediate Training NVC - Finding Your Voice & Speaking Your Truth
* Are you longing for more confidence to speak up for what's important to you? * Do you find that you know your needs and how to craft them into a language that others can hear, yet in the moment, or with certain people the words just don’t come out? * Perhaps you manage to voice your needs, but find yourself stuck, unable to find a way forward with the other person, leaving you questioning whether this approach to communication really works? **Here’s what you can look forward to learning in this training:** * Discover and express your authentic voice in the moments and relationships that matter most to you. * Recognise and work compassionately with your inner judgments, gaining clarity about your true needs. * Reframe your offering so that the other hears it as a gift and not a punishment. * Gain insights into how our nervous systems shape interactions, and learn how to work with this awareness to foster understanding. * Build confidence in advocating for your needs effectively and consistently. The session will involve reflection, discussion, practice and role play. **Pre-requirements:** Please ensure you have completed a Level 1, NVC Foundation Training before attending this session. **Venue:** The Bridge, 73-81 Southwark Bridge Road, London Bridge **Date & Time:** Saturday 24th of January, 10 am - 5pm **Registration Required** - [https://www.paulinedoohan.com/events/event-one-c8aad-d95ss](https://www.paulinedoohan.com/events/event-one-c8aad-d95ss?fbclid=IwYnJpZBEwWFRNbmVIOXdyT215eUpYYXNydGMGYXBwX2lkEDIyMjAzOTE3ODgyMDA4OTIAAR5CSlwudPfdoUwwIyKHQayaRr2g1J5D1KpHuKArdFrBwFgaBllRVrnXab_3xg&brid=ksFwOMMBxMdEhujFWxXAkA)
WRITE CLUB: one hour of silent writing (or reading) in the company of others
WRITE CLUB: one hour of silent writing (or reading) in the company of others
The first rule of WRITE CLUB is that you do not talk *during* WRITE CLUB. This very simple meetup is based on the premise that public and peer accountability enables more productive writing than sitting at home and getting distracted by the fridge. We will write/read for an hour in silence. (I will be writing thought experiments for my other meetup group: [THOUGHT EXPERIMENTS IN PUBS](https://www.meetup.com/thought-experiments-in-pubs)) If you'd like to hang out afterwards, or if you prefer just to hang out, I have another event immediately afterwards in the same place :-) You can find that here: [HANGING OUT AT THE SOUTHBANK](https://www.meetup.com/experimentsin/events/312667892) We'll make use of the fantastic indoor public spaces on London's South Bank (The Southbank Centre, The BFI Cafe, The National Theatre Cafe, etc) to spend time in the company of other people. There are plenty of places to buy refreshments, but you can also bring your own if you prefer. This first event will take place in the foyer of The Southbank Centre. You can find us by looking out for a big red flag with THE SUNRISE CLUB emblazoned on it (though this clearly isn't THE SUNRISE CLUB! If you want to find out about that, you can do so [here](https://www.meetup.com/the-sunrise-club/).) Looking forward to meeting and writing with you :-) Bonny

[YOU CAN BOOK YOUR PLACE AT THE FOLLOWING LINK: https://www.writeandpint.com/events/self-society-writing-eating-drinking-a-mini-pub-quiz-at-the-end .... **Saturday 24 Jan 2026 \| 11:00 – 17:00** You’re warmly invited to join us for a **full-day creative writing workshop** with food & drink, literary handouts, and a little fun thrown in for good measure. *** ### **Self & Society** A day exploring how **inner lives meet outer worlds** — how we’re shaped by the places, cultures, and systems we move through, and how writing helps us notice, question, and respond. This isn’t just about poetry (though poetry is welcome). We’ll work with **prose, memoir, philosophy, fragments, and hybrid forms**, reading widely, writing freely, and following curiosity wherever it leads. By the end of the day, you’ll leave with: * New writing * Ideas sparked * Drafts begun * Plenty to keep working with long after the workshop ends *** ### **What do we mean by Self & Society?** We’re interested in writing that asks questions like: * What does it mean to live a life from the inside, in a shared world? * How do private thoughts and public realities shape one another? * Where do personal experience and wider culture meet? * How can writing help us see — and speak — more clearly? We’ll read short extracts from poets, essayists, philosophers, and storytellers, then experiment with their approaches through guided writing exercises. No dogma. No right answers. Just enquiry, attention, and honest language. *** ### **The plan** * Start the day with tea or coffee and a gentle warm-up writing session * Break for brunch at The Reliance Pub * Settle into reading, conversation, supported exploration, and more writing * Wind down with a late afternoon / early evening drink * Finish with a mini pub quiz, purely for fun *** ### **What’s included** * Full day of creative writing workshops & exercises * Tea or coffee to start * Reliance Pub brunch platter * Late-afternoon / early-evening drink * Thoughtful literary handouts * **FREE Penguin Mini Classic** for every participant *** ### **What to bring** * Yourself * Pen & notebook — or a laptop if you prefer *** ### **Our style** * Friendly, supportive, inclusive * Everybody welcome — no experience necessary * No pressure to share or perform * Take part quietly, actively, or anywhere in between If you have any doubts or questions, text me on **+44 (0) 7534 981 636** Warm wishes, **Sean** *A Write & a Pint*

Intro to GitHub Copilot: Your AI Pair Programmer - Chris Steele
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you. The building address is 4450 Bridge Park The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400 **Abstract** GitHub Copilot is rapidly changing how developers write, understand, and maintain code. Powered by generative AI and deeply integrated into modern development environments, Copilot acts as an intelligent coding assistant, helping developers move faster while maintaining quality and focus. In this session, we’ll explore what GitHub Copilot is, how it works, and where it fits into a real-world developer workflow. We’ll break down what Copilot can (and cannot) do, where it can be used, and how licensing differs for individuals and organizations. Most importantly, this talk goes beyond theory with a live, hands-on demo showcasing Copilot inside the IDE and on GitHub, demonstrating how it can assist with code generation, refactoring, learning new APIs, and accelerating day-to-day development tasks. Designed for developers, technical leads, and engineering managers, this session provides a practical introduction to AI-assisted development, highlights best practices for getting value from Copilot, and closes with guidance on how to continue learning and evolving alongside this rapidly advancing tool. Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of how GitHub Copilot can enhance productivity, improve developer experience, and fit into modern software teams today, not someday. **YouTube Link** TBA

Shut Up & Write!® Easton Town Center
We'll meet at The Capital One Café, 167 Easton Town Center, Space A-103. This is in the main mall where the Microsoft store used to be, on your left if you're standing at the bottom of the AMC Theater escalator. Join us on Sunday for an hour of uninterrupted wordmaking! • What we'll do Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at noon on Sundays. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. SCHEDULE: 12:00 - quick intros. 12:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour. 1:10 - chat / take off / keep writing. OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 1-1:30ish. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer. Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you! • What to bring Whatever you need to be able to write! Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block noise or the occasional conversation by other patrons. Electrical outlets are limited, so charge your devices before whenever possible. See you at The Café on Sunday!
